UG defeats Sombra, Rey de Reyes, lots of lineups

CMLL (SUN) 03/18/2012 Arena Mexico [CMLL, La Catedral]
***Fan Apperciation Day, March (SUN)***
1) Bengala, Leono, Soberano Jr. DQ Apocalipsis, Cholo, Inquisidor
Straight falls, Apocalipsis fouling Leono in the second. Leono has new gear.
2) Hooligan, Loco Max, Nitro b Molotov, Pegasso, Sensei
Rudos took 1/3
3) Cancerbero, Euforia, Virus b Dragon Lee, Rey Cometa, Sangre Azteca
Tecnicos took 1, rudos took 2. Dragon Lee beat Cancerbero, Euforia beat Cometa, Sangre Azteca dived Euforia, Virus dropped Dragon Lee with the Rosa Driver for the win.
4) Marco Corleone, Máscara Dorada, Rush b Averno, Mephisto, Negro Casas
Marco replaced Devitt, who came out to say hi to the crowd. Tecnicos took 2/3. Averno jumped over the new barricade to escape Marco, maybe the first rudo to do that. Security ordered Averno back, but a fan and Averno also had some sort of incident (which sounds mild) and the fan was removed.
5) Último Guerrero b La Sombra
UG jumped Sombra, but Sombra snuck out fall 1. UG won a quick fall 2. Lots of near falls, and UG winning with the Guerrero Special in the third.

Full AAA results whenever AAA posts them. You can see what I’ve put together so far here, but the high points

  • Perro Aguayo Jr. won Rey de Reyes.
  • Jeff Jarrett turned on LA Park, who is not yet a tecnico, but did repay the favor by costing Jarrett (and helping Mesias to win the title.)
  • La Parka was turned on by La Milicia and is apparently a tecnico, maybe allied with the Bizarros
  • Teddy Hart is back, with La Sociedad
  • Argenis may be a rudo member of Consejo, who won their match to stick around.
  • Sexi Star took Pimpinela’s hair
Over in IWRG, Trauma I & Negro Navarro won the tag titles from Pirata Morgan and Hijo de Pirata Morgan

Earlier, AAA hyped the return of Fuerza Aerea – including Argenis, who’s apparently no longer in the group.

SuperLuchas #454 has the AAA trios title change and an interview with Hayabusa, coming back to Mexico for the Lucha Fan Fest in May.

Rob has highlights of 09/02/11 CMLL and 03/06/12 CMLL,

LuchaWorld has Alfredo on 02/25 CMLL.

Card subject to change! It does look like they’re setting up Devitt vs Volador here if possible.

Also seems Black Warrior vs Rey Escorpion is a new rivalry. They were partners back in the Incredible Pairs tournament.

Triton vs Virus sounds great, hope it makes TV somewhere.

The dramatic return of Canis Lupis! Again, one title match usually sets up another.

4 thoughts to “UG defeats Sombra, Rey de Reyes, lots of lineups”

  1. I wonder how AAA and the WON will explain the Rey de Reyes audience number. Judging from the Super Luchas pics, the arena was not even half full during the main event. The Auditorio Benito Juarez has 10,000 seats, so maybe 4,000 or 4,500 people were there. That should be a big disappointment for all. Was it freezing cold in Jalisco yesterday, or maybe another big rainstorm? ;)

  2. Well, I like Mesias so it’s cool he won the title… even if he had help :) It’s weird, when I first started watching AAA a few years ago Cibernetico and Zorro were very much in the title picture with Mesias as well. Fast forward to now and Mesias is still there but the other two don’t seem as important. Just very odd for me.

  3. @Ringo: If WON reports a smaller number than they reported for Dos Leyendas I’ll eat my hat!

  4. Based on all the photos popping up it’s not really fair to say 4 or 5,000 because clearly more than half the building is full. It looks to be between 6500 and 8000 or so. (Still less than Dos Leyendas.) The fans definitely began leaving early though which is a great sign for how over Jeff Jarrett is. In the main event there was probably only half the building left.

If you want to watch for something in the WON watch Meltzer point out how much heat Jarrett had b/c fans threw garbage at him instead of pointing out nobody stayed for his match and any random American doing that act would get the same reaction.
