random AYM sports shows of the week: Saturday 11 am and Thursday 8 pm

52MX: Coliseo tag team title match, Sombra/UG setup, maybe the women’s match if there’s time.

LATV: a rerun.

CMLL-Televisa: If they’re following up correctly (?!?), this is a rare show with two singles matches – Marcela vs Ayumi for the title, Rush vs Terrible just for the heck of it.

FOX: Shocker’s return to Arena Mexico and Diamante Azul vs Peste Negra

C3: Sangre Nueva part 2, more of Psicosis vs Mascara.

GDL: Guerreros vs Atlantida

Puebla: Virus vs Loco Max (highly recommended by Virus) and this cibernetico

AAA: A couple weeks ago, AAA made a point of saying this week would be the start of 90 minute shows. Konnan repeated this on Figure Four Daily. This show is not 60 minutes. It is 45. Lucy pulled the football, I imagine. They’ll be lucky to get one match on with all the commercials. At least 4 should air on the regional show, but note it was cut to 90 minutes itself last week.

ACM: I’m not sure because I never saw results, but the usual crew.

IWRG: I’m not sure because it’s going on as I type this, but surely the Juniors #1 contender match.

Perros: I’m not sure because the Perros del Mal show didn’t air this week. That’s interesting timing. The Arena Aficion show should’ve been done in time. Could be just a normal per-empetion for other programming. TVC Deportes doesn’t list past Sunday, so no knowing for sure if they’ll be back next week.

unending dropkick

Camaleón & Freesbe vs Bobby Zavala & Cholo: Normal opener, except maybe Freesbe making TV doesn’t quite count as normal. Maybe a little better than normal, because there weren’t the usual hesitations and errors that might be normally seen in a opener – everyone handled themselves well.

Aereo, Pequeño Halcón, Último Dragoncito vs Demus 3:16, Pequeño Olímpico, Pierrothito: Seen better minis matches. Neither Halcón or Aereo seems to have progressed all that much since starting here. They’re still the same unfinished guys with spotty records. Pierrothito and Demus looked good and the match was different, but they could use some better people to work with.

#porraReyCometa

Pegasso, Rey Cometa, Starman vs Cancerbero, Puma King, Raziel: Okay match. A bit on the short side, so we didn’t get every Raziel/Cancerbero buzzsaw combo. More a lot of técnico offense, even though the rudos squashed them in the end. Not a particularly memorable match but at the usual level for this crew.

TRT Crab

Hijo del Fantasma, Máscara Dorada, Super Porky vs Morphosis, Olímpico, Shigeo Okumura: not sure if I had just watched too much CMLL in a row, but this match was kind of boring. Crowd enjoyed it, but it was the same match as always with Porky and the rudos not doing much of note. Dorada didn’t do much for him (which means he did a crazy dive and a headscissors.)

Delta!

Atlantis, Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr. vs Rey Bucanero, Terrible, Tiger: Not as good as last week’s TRT! I think this was a lesser TRT performance, thought they did mix in a couple neat spots in here and there. Sets up the next match well enough. Maya and Terrible worked together better than I would’ve figured.

Virus takes Loco’s hair, DTU wins tournament, FdT debut, Devitt arrives

CMLL (MON) 03/12/2012 Arena Puebla [Porra Fresa]
***Dos Leyendas 2012 (Puebla)***
1) Fuerza Chicana & Siki Ozama Jr. b Black Tiger & Blue Center
rudos took 2/3
2) Milenium & Último Dragoncito b Pequeño Olímpico & Pierrothito
Milenium replaced Bam Bam. Tecnicos took 2/3.
3) Stuka Jr., Titán, Triton b Euforia, Pólvora, Raziel
Tecnicos took 2/3. Stuka pinned Polvora and challenged him to a title match. Polvora just walked off.
4) Virus b Loco Max [hair]
Crowd wildly behind Loco Max. Virus jumped Loco Max, but Loco snuck in a leg lock to take the first. Virus snuck in a cradle for the second. Long third fall before Virus won via motovirus.
5) Terrible b Marco Corleone, Blue Panther, Máximo, Atlantis, Máscara Dorada, Mr. Águila, Mephisto, Último Guerrero, Rey Bucanero [Copa Lutteroth-Bonales]
Copa Lutteroth-Bonales looked the same as the GDL one. Order of elimination went Dorada (Aguila), Mephisto (Panther), Panther (UG), UG & Atlantis (double mask pull?), Aguila (Marco), Marco (Bucanero & Terrible), Bucanero (Maximo), and Terrible pinned Maximo when he was arguing with Tirantes.

80% full building.

CMLL (TUE) 03/13/2012 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Fuego en el Ring]
1) El Divino b Infierno
2) Bobby Zavala & Cholo b Esfinge & Leo

4) Ephesto, Kráneo, Mephisto b Diamante Azul, Máscara Dorada, Sagrado
Mephisto snuck in a foul on Mascara Dorada.
5) Rey Bucanero, Terrible, Tiger b Atlantis, Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr.
Rudos took 2/3.

Prince Devitt arrived in Mexico yesterday, was required to immediately take pictures with his belt and a Mexican flag. Devitt said he’s looking forward to the passionate fans and is a little nervous about wrestling in wrestling in an important building like Arena Mexico. Devitt also says he usually has a big celebration for St. Patrick’s Day, but isn’t sure he’ll be able to (on Saturday) since he’s so busy in Mexico.

Perros del Mal have wished X-Fly, Damian and Halloween luck in their future projects.

SuperLuchas commenters believe AAA’s Hombre del Negro was actually Super Nova. Guess it won’t be him at Rey de Reyes.

Galavision (Mexico) will have a feature on Ray Mendoza at 2pm on Saturday, before the CMLL show. I think this is part of the “Hazaña el Deporte Vive” show.

Rush is sure he can beat three people by himself, but he doesn’t really want to hair of “ninas”/”lagartijas” Tiger & Bucanero, just to humiliate Terrible.

Many CMLL luchadors are on the regular Matamotors/Tamulipas tour of shows Pirata Morgan & El Pulpo have been organizing. The Guerrero Maya & Valiente vs Titan & Triton match on the last day sounds awesome.

Lineups

LyC (SUN) 03/18/2012 Arena Coliseo Monterrey
1) Daishuri & Keira vs La Vaquerita & Lady Puma
2) Dead Clown, Gemelo Muerte I, Gemelo Muerte II vs Dranser, Rico Rodriguez, Scravos
3) Dralion, Gato Fantasma, Silencio vs Angel del Misterio, Black Mamba, El Barbaro (LuchaPOP)
LyC vs LuchaPOP
4) Big Neurosis, Hijo del Ninja, Simbolo vs Battman, Genocida, He Man

This lineup makes a little more sense. Batman AND He-Man, Hijo del Ninja is going to have a lot of trouble with this one.

CMLL (MON) 03/19/2012 Arena Puebla
1) Milenium & Stigma vs Akron & Ares
2) Pequeño Halcón, Shockercito, Último Dragoncito vs Pequeño Olímpico, Pequeño Violencia, Pequeño Warrior
3) Hijo del Fantasma, Sagrado, Super Porky vs Misterioso Jr., Namajague, Shigeo Okumura
4) Pólvora vs Stuka Jr. [MEX WELTER]
Polvora is the champion
5) La Máscara, La Sombra, Prince Devitt vs Olímpico, Psicosis, Volador Jr.

Stuka’s second chance. I really liked the first one.

TxT (FRI) 03/23/2012 Palenque de la Fiera de Aguascalientes
1) Hombre Arana vs Burrit de Monterrey, La Catrina, El Emperador
scheduled to appear
2) Mascarita Dorada vs Tzuki, Mini Rockerito
3) Rayman & Rayo de Jalisco Jr. vs Cien Caras & Cien Caras Jr.
4) El Hijo Del Santo & Villano IV vs Angel Blanco Jr. & El Hijo del Solitario

Same card 2 days later in Jalisco. Posters say these are taped shows, but that seems unlikely. Tzuki!

CMLL CASANDRO (SAT) 03/31/2012 Arena Azteca Budokan
1) ? vs ??
2) ? vs ??
3) Dragon Lee, Estrellita, Magnus vs Camorra, Puma King, Tiffany
4) Diamante, Diamante Azul, Stuka Jr., Valiente vs El Alebrije, Nitro, Psicosis, Tiger
5) Atlantis, La Máscara, Shocker vs Averno, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero

Benefit show for Casandro. Pretty strong turnout out of CMLL for a luchador who (to the best of my knowledge) was never actually in CMLL. This looks like both the first Doble Diamante team and the reunion of El Luchador double dating team Dragon Lee & Magnus. Rare for CMLL to be involved in a mixed tag, but this was probably just who was around.

recap

taped 2012-02-19 @ Arena Mexico
Diamante, Titán, Triton vs Hijo del Signo, Loco Max, Namajague: A relatively simple win for the rudos. Some neat spots in a usual match. Namajague still is a slight work in progress but much better than Yoshihashi was at this point. Titan & Triton really have lost their momentum, hopefully things change soon.

Blue Panther, Delta, Hijo del Fantasma vs Felino, Negro Casas, Rey Escorpion: Match went 2:15! That’s shorter than maybe all of the matches in the latest tournament! This was an angle match to set up a Panther injury that I’m nto sure actually was played up anywhere. Oh well.

Rush is inescapable

Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto vs Marco Corleone, Máximo, Rush for the CMLL World Trios Championship: Fun match, easily the best one of the feud. That’s what you want for the title match, but the rudos were much more into this and everything seemed important. They didn’t break any new ground here but they did the usual bits very well and made it seem like a battle between the two best teams. Máximo, Rush and Marco seemed like a completely random team when they were put together but have come together nicely and I look forward to seeing what they’ll be doing with these titles.
