That sure looks like Drago. No sign of a facial injury

AAA says El Consejo their offices and attacked Electroshock and Heavy Metal. Good to know Heavy Metal still exists, though this is the second straight time he’s been beat up off screen. That’s never a good sign. I suspect this might turn up on the El Consejo video channel.

A Chessman interview re: el Consejo actually serves to remind me that Chessman and Abyss are the current tag team champions. I forgot that happened. I’m still not totally sure why that happened. I’d be okay if Thumbtack Man kept the belt if it meant he didn’t come back. The whole TNA Invasion storyline seems old news now, a bit because El Consejo is being treated as a big deal and a bit because TNA hasn’t been in AAA in two months. Jeff Jarrett brings the story up on his Twitter account occasionally and AAA mentioned Jeff Jarrett during Mesias’ match this week on TV, so the promotion hasn’t forgotten it, but it feels pushed into the background. They’ve got a lot of work to do if people are going to care about the Jarrett/Mesias match at Rey de Reyes.

AAA also mentioned the Rey de Reyes tournament for this first time this year, though there’s still no sign of how it’ll work or when it’ll begin.

This is a good day for non-stories, so let’s talk about Alex Koslov. On twitter (now back @alexkoslovcom), Alex confirmed he had been cut by FCW. Alex had changed his Twitter avatar from a WWE shot back to a photo from his AAA days weeks ago, so I don’t think this was a big surprise for him. AAA ran a tribute video package for him when he left and the same people are still in charge, so I’m sure they’d be happy to have him back. Marco Corleone’s mentioned on Twitter he’d like to see Alex back in CMLL, and every indication of late is CMLL is more willing to take back people who’ve left them acrimoniously so it may be a real option. But these are just two of many options Alex has; he could also try to stick elsewhere in the US to build up his name or work on whatever WWE didn’t like, he could try to get in Japan to get a different experience, or he could decide that WWE developmental was the end of his road and move into another career (which seems to be the choice a lot of people in his situation pick.) He has RT comments about going back to CMLL, but one should not consider “retweets” to be definitive. It’d be great if he’s back in lucha, but we don’t really know anything until he says something himself.

In addition to Ayumi and Devitt, Mr. Cacao returns to CMLL for the 02/26 (Coliseo) and 02/28 (Mexico.)

Rob has the highlights of 01/17 & 01/24 CMLL

Lucha Libre in Japan

NOAH has announced Super Crazy will be wrestling with them from 02/25 to 03/25. Ricky Marvin requested the promotion bring him in, and they’ll square off in a singles match on the first day of the tour.

Lineups

CMLL (TUE) 02/14/2012 Arena Mexico
1) Bengala & Camaleón vs Camorra & Cholo
2) Goya Kong & Marcela vs Tiffany & Zeuxis
3) Bam Bam, Eléctrico, Último Dragoncito vs Demus 3:16, Pequeño Olímpico, Pierrothito
4) Ángel de Oro, Blue Panther, Stuka Jr. vs Felino, Negro Casas, Puma King
5) Marco Corleone, Máximo, Rush vs Rey Bucanero, Terrible, Tiger

Apparently, that foul finish of Loco vs Virus was the end of the issue. At least for now.

Puma King getting a much higher spot than usual (but that’s a bit of having women and minis on the same show.)

Love Buffet on the Valentine’s Day show makes all the sense in the world.

CMLL (TUE) 02/14/2012 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) El Divino vs Infierno
2) Black Metal & Leo vs Disturbio & Rey Trueno
3) Dalis la Caribeña, Goya Kong, Lady Apache vs La Comandante, La Seductora, Princesa Blanca
4) Atlantis, Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr. vs Pólvora, Rey Escorpion, Último Guerrero
5) La Máscara vs Volador Jr. [NWA MIDDLE]

Polvora as Dragon Rojo! Who should be offended there? It’s a savvy move by UG, Polvora can’t be beat in Guadalajara. Top 3 should all air on GDL TV, if you’re in the mood for another La Mascara title match.

indy (SAT) 02/18/2012 Arena Neza
1) Guerrero Mixtico, Neza Kid, Turbo vs Comando Negro, Dr. Cerebro, Mike Segura
2) Super Muñeco, Súper Pinocho, Súper Ratón vs Coco Blanco, Coco Verde, Cocolores
3) Black Terry, Negro Navarro, Scorpio Jr. vs Hijo del Solar, Skayde, Solar I
4) Atlantis, Blue Panther, Último Guerrero vs Cien Caras, Máscara Año 2000, Universo 2000
5) Villano III, Villano IV, Villano V vs Brazo de Oro, Brazo de Plata, Brazo de Platino

The perfect show for the people who know old lucha names and don’t follow the current shows at all.

  1. Well the other “arena”in el paso the wild west has cassandro/ hurricane hector /peluchin maldad vs hector garza/atomo/skybird.

  2. Goya Kong seems to be double booked on Tuesday. I guess the mystery woman will take her place in GDL?

  3. @Tim: I forgot to mention that!

I would guess mystery woman in GDL too, though they really should know in advance to send another DF woman. Though, since Goya face is actually on the poster, she ought to be in GDL.

  4. @Stephen: Nah, he’s been on AAA shows whenever they’re in Tijuana. It’s only meaningful if he turns up on one that’s not in TJ.

  5. That’s definitely Drago tearing it up on that AAA Tijuana show. Pretty amazing for a guy who almost had his face blown off. I’m starting to wonder about the validity of that story.

Maybe “almost had his face blown off by fireworks” is the new “can’t cut a promo”?
