Dalis la Caribeña, Dark Angel, Marcela vs Amapola, Princesa Blanca, Zeuxis: If the referee can just completely ignore the rules of trios matches in lucha libre to get a definite finish, can someone inform any referee who may be in charge of a Negro Navarro match at any time in the future of this remarkable development? (Specifically, the Arena Lopez Mateos referees who might be on that February show.) Nonsensical disregard for the rules besides, this was a whole lot of fun. Lots of fast moving action the whole way, none of the usual mix ups seen in these women’s matches. It was maybe too fast moving at points – not too hard to keep up, but counters and reversals were coming too easy at certain points to make this look too much like something they’d been running thru in the gym all week – but I didn’t have problem with most of the match. Dark Angel, in her first match back here in a while, looked like she hadn’t missed a beat and really made wish she was around a lot more. Zeuxis and Dalis kept up and didn’t stand out negatively, which is as strong a compliment as you can any of the newer girls. Best women’s match since the Blanca/Marcela title match.
La Máscara, La Sombra, Máscara Dorada vs Mr. Águila, Psicosis, Volador Jr.: Another really fun match, one that I’d been happy to see a few more minutes. The finish almost came as a surprise, but I guess there’s not much more to do after you stomp the life out of Monito. Sombra had the one spot that didn’t look so great, but a lot of spots which were really good. Aguila and Psicosis continue to be in great form. This one makes the MOTYC list.
An awesome show. Loved how in the main event they did the dive sequence in such a way as to cover the entire ringside area. Don’t think I’ve ever seen that before. Finish was perfect. The ultimate rudo spot: Kick the shit out of the most sympathetic charachter in the world! Then turn around and be submitted. Perfect.
Special mention to the asshole drunk fan who put a cup on Sombra’s head as a joke. Don’t mind the fact this guy is killing himself to entertain you! Sombra should have smacked him.
