Stuka Jr., Titán, Triton vs Euforia, Misterioso Jr., Shigeo Okumura: Really fun match. It probably won’t make my great/excellent roundup because it’s just so short, but it had a high enjoyable per minute rate (if such thing existed.) Actually no problem with it being a three fall match in such short time, because they had some really neat finishes and a lot of different parts could’ve been the gif. The action was good, with Triton looking pretty spectacular all the way. What makes this stand out for me is the unusually intricate layout of the match – people fighting to get pins and breaking them up, teased comeback spots with the rudos shutting the técnicos down repeatedly until they finally got it, teammates setting each other up. It had a very Big Match feel that’s unusual for this spot in the card.
Atlantis, Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr. vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto: fun match. Just like last week, Reyes del Atlantida won the final portion without much trouble, and I’m starting to wonder if that’s a plot point. The wins definitely are; there seems to be a bigger emphasis on wins and losses in the last month (at least in the top and Friday matches.) This one felt more focused on Atlantis & Delta (who could use better aim), which might mean someone had an idea where they were going next week.
Really enjoyed the opener on re-watch. My expectations were too high going in originally. The editing does suck but what is left in is great.
In the show intro they have clips from this match including a Misterioso top-rope power bomb on Titan that looks sick. But for the life of me I can’t figure out where in the match they edited that out? First fall? Is that why Titan is MIA for the finish?
