Any AAA show with the new Alebrije is reflexively an unimportant show. This show in Puebla last weekend was the exception:  Drago wrestled in the semimain. He’s wearing a mask, but no sign of facial injury. Looks like the same guy. Maybe, on the heels of the Mesias kidnapping story, we should stop believing local promotes when they explain why guys aren’t making their show?

Namajague missed his first announced match, but CMLL did send out press introducing him. The story is he and Okumura are friends since childhood, when they both were winning martial arts tournaments in northern Japan. Okumura’s redubbed his group Fiebre Amarillo (Yellow Fever), and aims to win the tag team titles. The tag team titles from Ultimo Guerrero & Dragon Rojo, though Fuego & Stuka seem more their speed.

Rudos vs Tecnicos 2, AAA’s multimedia web magazine, is out. Interviews with La Parka and Fenix

Last week’s Llaves y Candados Arena Coliseo Monterrey card did not happen for some reason, but they’re advertising the same lineup for 02/05.

  1. I love what they’re doing with Metro. It’s so good that my hunch is someone with power has personally taken him under their wing to make sure he isn’t “just another guy”. Panther maybe? At first I was worried he was legit killing dudes with the german suplex but it seems everyone who gets stretchered is still working the next day so the promotion is clearly trying to make his german suplex into a death move.

  2. @Rob: Dos Caras Jr. used to do this thing where he would gorilla press a guy above his head, and then drop them, and then right as they landed, he would snatch them back into a German Suplex. It was very smooth and impressive looking. He usually would win a fall with it, but it was never treated like the death move it should have been.
With lucha rings having a notorious rep for being stiff bumps, you would think German Suplexes (or any kind of fancy suplex, really) would be put over stronger, but they arent. Metro does indeed have a nice suplex, so good for him.
