Cancerberos/Tuareg, Atlantida vs all, Afrodita, Namajague?

CMLL (TUE) 01/24/2012 Arena Mexico [CMLL]
1) Metálico & Sensei b Bobby Zavala & Zayco
2) Hijo del Signo, Puma King, Skándalo b Ángel Azteca Jr., Metatrón, Rey Cometa
the returning (?) Metatron replaced Sangre Azteca, who was bumped up a match. Tecnicos got the star in the first fall, but Cometa took a Skandalo driver in the better. Tecnicos took second, rudos took the third.
3) Hooligan, Loco Max, Nitro DQ Euforia, Raziel, Virus
Tuareg won again, but because the Cancerberos tossed Loco Max over the top rope for the DQ.
4) Kraneo, Morphosis, Mr. Águila b Fuego, Hijo del Fantasma, Sangre Azteca
Sangre replaced Stuka. Fuego took Sangre out with a dive and the rudos beat Fantasma for the win.
5) Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas b Ángel de Oro, La Máscara, Super Porky

Recap says rudos took all the matches, but also say the tecnicos got their hands raised in the opener. I may have something confused here.

I guess the Cancerbero/Tuareg finish means the Fan Appreciation show is 02/07.

CMLL PR (via MT) explains the Guerreros actually refused to defend their tag team titles versus Atlantis & Delta so far, since they already beat Atlantis and Maya. Also, looks like the Invasors are going for a hat trick by challenging Reyes del Atlantida to a trios title match in Puebla. This combination is Kraneo, Olimpico and Morphosis.

Fuego en el Ring interviewed Lady Afrodita about how she came to be in Japan. She started out training with Fuerza Aerea, the same teacher who taught Virus and Valiente. She entered as just doing as a hobby, but got hooked by the training and inspired by Mistico. She moved to Mexico City after a few months to get more serious training, and joined Arkangel’s starting class. Afrodita was at Arena Neza for a match when Arkangel called her to offer her the REINA tour. Since she was already living away from home, she wasn’t that concerned about going farther, but it was an adjustment. Her last match is 01/29 and then she’s back in Mexico.

Hormiga, who retried from wrestling on the last DTU show, says he’ll be at the next DTU show. DTU did two big stipulation matches on that show, and they just have both guys coming back as if nothing happened.

LuchaWorld has a recap of the top two AULL matches from 1/14/2012 Arena Lopez Mateos.

Lineups

CMLL (SUN) 01/29/2012 Arena Coliseo
1) Bengala & Robin vs Camorra & Cholo
2) Bam Bam, Shockercito, Último Dragoncito vs Pequeño Nitro, Pequeño Olímpico, Pierrothito
3) Molotov, Pegasso, Rey Cometa vs Cancerbero, Hijo del Signo, Virus
4) Máximo, Titán, Triton vs Felino, Pólvora, Shigeo Okumura
5) La Máscara, La Sombra, Valiente vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto

A show. Maximo with Titan & Triton seems an odd combination. Molotov escapes all the way to the tercera by virtue of a minis match (which doesn’t include Demus, so he should be clear.)

CMLL (TUE) 01/31/2012 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Virgo vs Ángel del Mal
2) Artillero & Súper Comando vs Mr. Trueno & Rey Trueno
3) Black Metal, Starman, Triton vs Èvola, Namajague, Shigeo Okumura
4) Pólvora vs Titán [MEX WELTER]
5) Rey Bucanero, Terrible, Tiger vs Hijo del Fantasma, Rush, Valiente

Lots of interesting stuff here. The geeky Comandos vs Truenos segunda, Titan vs Polvora (which will make TV, and will be wacky) and a mystery man in the tercera. There’s been a lot of indy guys making their way thru here of late, but teaming with Okumura suggests something a bit different. Namajague may be a translation of Namahage; just look at the picture on the page, and you can figure it as a lucha gimmick pretty easily. I’d bet on this being the new NJPW trainee to take Yoshihashi’s spot, but it’d be a new look for whoever it is and may take a little while to figure out who’s missing. Hope they keep him in GDL for a while if  he’s not ready for DF.

2 thoughts to “Cancerberos/Tuareg, Atlantida vs all, Afrodita, Namajague?”

  1. Quick note on the Chile story. There were guys in Max Lucha Libre shirts at the LWA show in Lima last December and Ricky Marvin and KENTA were on that card. They were likely in town for a few extra days and guys seem to do some training at the LWA school while they are in town.

They certainly sound like they might be claiming more than that, but they probably did receive some “training” from the guys they mention.

  2. That Guadalajara show is going to be all sorts of interesting. Titan in a singles match (for a title!) should be entertaining one way or the other and I always enjoy seeing guys debut.
