watched Satanico vs Jerry Estrada, which I’m pretty sure is not from this week. Estrada (and his odd giant white gloves) are great, but not all shocking that he destroyed his body. Some crazy and not all that smart stuff. Also watched Canek/Don Corleone; Marco is the more entertaining wrestler in the family, but felt like I slightly better understood why people were so into Canek.

That’s about 50, which is probably more than anyone’s ever going to watch. Don’t really have a process for narrowing it down. Will be adding video for the few that are missing (can’t believe I didn’t have Dr. Landru’s video marked for the DB already but working on it), but are there any more matches to add? We did this in mid November, so ther’s six weeks missing from the end. Got to add the Invasors/Atlantida match for sure.

Diamante, Fuego, Sangre Azteca vs Euforia, Shigeo Okumura, Virus: Ordinary, or even less than that, for most of the way with a strong third fall finishing sequence. Sangre Azteca as a técnico still isn’t working so well.

 

Rey Bucanero, still crazy

Hijo del Fantasma, Super Porky, Valiente vs Rey Bucanero, Terrible, Tiger: Just felt like a match, nothing important happened here. Crowd enjoyed it because it was the Porky match, but didn’t do much for the rudos. Tiger didn’t feel out of place, but didn’t do anything to make himself memorable.

CMLL’s Facebook has a short message from Satanico about his friend MS-1’s passing. Kcidis has a drawing.

CMLL’s pitching tonight’s Arena Mexico show as a double main event. In main event one (also known as the semimain), Reyes del Atlantida meet Hijos de Averno in a champions vs champions. In main event two, Generacion Dorada comes together for the first time since losing the trios title against Aguila, Volador and Psicosis in what could be a crazy high flying match.

Ovaciones talks to Atlantis, Guerrero Maya Jr., and Delta about their title defense this coming Tuesday.

El Hijo del Santo spent his Record column trashing Monterrey wrestling and Konnan Big in particular as killing the wrestling business. Konnan Big responded via video. I would bet the match with Niurka outdrew at least one, if not both of the last Todo x el Todo shows, for what it’s worth.

Skayde is coming to Chicago for a training seminar at GALLI the end of this month.

Both the main shows appear to still be in repeat mode; CMLL was nowhere near the end of the year, and AAA was just starting Guerra de Titanes. That’s a good thing, because neither show is really going to be seen this week. CMLL has a 30 minute slot and AAA is listed for 15 minutes. AAA’s not really going to get those 15 minutes anyway. The shows are sandwhiched around the Saints/49ers NFL game. AAA is the bridge program between the NFL game and the FMF Tigres/Queretaro game. The most recent numbers I can find say NFL games are going 3 hours and 7 minutes; Televisa is more than willing of taking putting up 8 minutes of ads instead of AAA for a few minutes. The location between the two sporting events would probably mean AAA’s highest rated show in some time, but it’ll be so easy to skip that I’d be surprised if anything airs. AAA should be happy if they get a 2 minute video package on the air this week, but they should be thrilled if they can find a different network to take their programming.

Things should clear up with the NFL ramping down, but only until the next big event comes up (the Olympics? something sooner?)

52MX: back to normal shows; that’s the new look Invasors and Averno/Mephisto/Volador vs Sombra/Mascara/Panther this week.
