  1. Curious to hear some folks thoughts (especially Nikita!) On Angel De Oro vs Dragon Rojo. I thought it was a good match but not great. Certainly not the type of match they may have wanted where you come out thinking “man these guys are the future and the future is bright!” I’ve never been a big fan of Dragon Rojo in singles matches and thought he was pretty exposed here once again – especially that awkward spot in the 3rd fall where he seemingly forgot how to set up the Gory Special. Angel De Oro held up his end quite well. The finishing spots were really well done. Good match but nothing we’ll remember next month. For comparisons sake I thought Angel De Oro vs Polvora in the Forjando un Idolo final was much better and I think Dragon Rojo is a million times better than Polvora.

I pretty much agree with that. I don’t know if this match was supposed to be that kind of match either. I think in a perfect world this is the main event of a Coliseo show, not ArMex – it made it seem like a bigger deal than it really was.
I thought they looked tentative in some spots of the match, but I also think they did pretty well. I think these guys could have a helluva match if they were married to each other for awhile, and things got to be second nature to them. I think Rojo was somewhat being called on to lead this match, and I do not think he is quite ready to do that in a main event singles match.
I think my biggest cringe in the match came early in the 3rd fall, when they were trading some nearfalls out of cradles, and ol’ Tigre couldn’t keep up. I don’t know if someone got lost there, but Angel ended up throwing a weak looking elbow followed up with going for Rojo’s mask – which is a big big no-no. The tecnico should never ever ever go for the mask first… with the exception for it being something built up to in a heated rivalry. Rather than slap on a headlock or something, Angel committed an act from the Rudo playbook for no reason, and he probably heard about it when he got to the back. Also, Rojo needs to work on his kick-outs. On some of those close near-falls he is kicking his legs, but totally not getting his shoulder up – that is just a badly botched finish waiting to happen.
All in all it wasn’t a bad match. I would like to see it again in a year after they have worked each other in parejas/trios like fifty times…
