top six stories in the last two weeks

  1. The big story from Guerra de Titanes didn’t involve anyone in a match, but the debut of “El Consejo”, a pseudo-CMLL faction feuding with all of AAA. They attacked Dr. Wagner and son moments after LA Park again used brass knuckles to win a big match (and the Latin American Title this time.) Mesias beat TNA wrestlers AJ Styles and Rob Terry to earn a World Title shot against Jeff Jarrett at some time to be determined, and Vampiro made his fourth annual surprise return to AAA.
  2. Felino lost his hair to Blue Panther, but more directly to a referee ruling at Sin Piedad. Blue Panther earlier tried for the dreaded martinete, causing the commission to rule the next time anyone even attempted the move, it would be an automatic DQ. Felino was either didn’t realize that or didn’t care, and was caught moments later trying to a piledriver. Referee broke it up and called an underwhelming DQ. In the undercard, Reyes del Atltandia beat El Invasors for the Mexican Trios Championship in the best match on either show and Marco Corleone had his return match for the promotion.
  3. Trauma I defeated Oficial AK-47 on the 39th anniversary of Arena Naucalpan. The long running rudo trio Oficials had previously escaped big matches through illegal means, but AK-47 was caught this time using a martinete. The scene of around the overturned finish was among the most dramatic of the year. Also, Eterno unified the welterweight titles and Carta Brava won the lightweight belt.
  4. AAA’s last taping of the year focused on El Consejo attacking both tecnicos and rudos, and LA Park hinted he was involved with them.
  5. Mascara Dorada and Valiente both suffered injuries on accidents. Dorada has already returned to action after a knee injury, valiente’s status is unknown.
  6. the La Catedral blog says Averno was offered the top spot in El Consejo, but turned it down.
  • on a Wagner promoted show, Head Hunter I won IWRG’s heavyweight title and Super Mega took the DTU belt, while the Gringos & LA Park & Octagon kept their titles.
  • Todo x el Todo show of champions featured all but Santo remaining champion. Santo lost his title to Angel Blanco, building up a mask match for February.
  • CMLL announced a cibernetico for the vacant heavyweight title, which turned out to be something slightly less. Terrible and Rush will fight for the title next week.
