AULL, Valiente apparently fine and winning matches, Niurka

AULL (SUN) 12/25/2011 Arena Lopez Mateos [R de Rudo]
4) Flamita, Súper Nova, Yakuza b Epitafio, Herejía, Trauma II
Ronny, Kilvan, Hombre sin Rostro attacked Epitafio after the loss.
5) Hormiga Atomica, Rey Kristal, Super Panda, Tortuguillo Ninja b Hombre sin Rostro, Kilvan, Pequeno Demonio, Ronny Ventura
Team Kristal took falls 2/3. After the match, Epitafio ran out to attack Ronny Venturs. Kilvan and Hombre sin Rostro helped Ronny, only for two mystery men to help Epitafio and set up a six man tag.
6) Iron Love b Chico del Barrio [hair]
Chico del Barrio hit the referee in the first fall for the DQ, won the second, and Iron Love came off the top rope to win.
7) Ray Mendoza Jr. & Villano IV b Chucho el Roto & Héctor Garza [UWA TAG]
Chucho el Roto replaced Texano Jr. Perhaps part of the El Consejo gimmick is inexplicable no-shows. This was moved to the semimain, so perhaps they knew there was no point in waiting for Texano to show up. Garza & Chucho were unfriendly partners. Villanos attacked the challengers during the photo and got the quick first fall win. Garza & Chucho won the second, and Chucho was pinning V4 for the win when Garza pulled V4’s mask for the DQ. (Or maybe they moved this to the semimain when they decided to have such a horrible finish.)

CMLL (MON) 12/26/2011 Arena Puebla [Porra Fresa]
1) Arissma & Policeman b Lestat & Stigma
Rudos take 2/3.
2) Metálico, Molotov, Sensei b Apocalipsis, Bronco, Inquisidor
Tecnicos take 2/3.
3) Lady Apache, Luna Mágica, Marcela b Amapola, La Comandante, Zeuxis
Tecnicas took 1/3.
4) Black Warrior, Metro, Valiente b Ephesto, Pólvora, Rey Escorpion
Would you believe it – Valiente actually wrestled in this match! Maybe all that bodybuilding strengthened his neck muscles? Tecnicos took 1/3, and attacked Rey Escorpion a bit after the fall.
5) La Máscara, Máximo, Super Porky b Averno, Mephisto, Volador Jr.
Rudos took 1/3, focusing on Volador and Mascara feuding. Volador’s mask accidentally came off during this match too, so it appears to be a reoccurring bit. Volador demanded a shot at Mascara’s NWA title, Mascara agreed but asked for a mask match after. Volador refused that part.

If you haven’t seen it, TerceraCaida aired footage of the injury. Valiente does attempt to control his fall by grabbing the ropes as he fell, but it still did not look great. And yet, there he was.

Niurka, who wikipedia describes as ” a Cuban-born Mexican singer, dancer, actress, and erotic model” won her match in Arena Coliseo Monterrey on Tuesday. It was an atomticos, with her boyfriend Intocable as part of one team, and Konnan Big and Estrellita among those on the other side. Video here. Looks like it worked as a publicity stunt, as far as attendance.

Dragon Rojo explains he didn’t want to give Angel de Oro a title shot because he’s a lucky guy and not on his level. That match and the Rush/Terrible matches are interesting tests. Neither is going to mean much to the box office, but are big chances to improve impressions for the future. The last Rush/Terrible match wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t good enough to make a difference, and they could use a difference maker.

Perros del Mal say they have a big surprise for the main event on their 01/01 show. Which means either it’s not a real big surprise, or they’ll randomly give it away in the next couple of days if the last few times they’ve done this is any indication.

Violento Jack and Daga are feuding via social media. Apparently, Violento Jack accuses Daga as only being in wrestling for the money and Daga accuses Violento Jack of not being a skilled professional wrestler.

IWL explains Groon replaced Rayo on their Christmas show because Rayo just stopped returning messages.

Hijo del Solitario believe he’ll beat Hijo del Santo in a potential mask vs mask match because he’s bigger and younger, and Santo is just a product of marketing. Solitario also implies previous Santo victims were paid to lose (!!!!) but the only payment he’s taking is Santo’s mask. Strong interview, though I’m not sure the one Todo x el Todo would be thrilled with.

Kcidis imagines a rudo Rush, turning on Marco Corleone. A lot of people have had that thought. Meanwhile, CMLL’s ever increasing web promo department has a few words from Terrible about the title match. CMLL Gaceta also previews the match, but it’s a bit of a stretch to talk about the tremendous importance of the championship when the last champion rather leave than being champion anymore, when CMLL didn’t address the title situation for a month, and when lauded former champion Ultimo Guerrero can’t be bothered to be in the tournament. It’s nice for one of these guys to win the belt, but the winner is not actually going to be a champion of anything for a long time.

An action figure seller says WWE ones have been outselling “AAA” ones the last couple years. I wonder if that’ll continue; WON noted Mexican buyrates are dropping (though that could just be a no-Sin Cara/no-Rey Misterio issue too.)
