recap

this last month of Triton, in one gif

Hijo del Fantasma, Máscara Dorada, Triton vs Averno, Ephesto, Terrible: this was a mixture of Triton continuing at his current level (not good) and others going thru the motion. Averno was in a strange mood. Everyone was mean to Comandante for no reason. Well, maybe the eight hundred times she’s cheapshotted them in past, if you want to think long term.

need to start a MetroEsNumeroUno tumblr

Atlantis, Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr. vs Blue Panther, Metro, Rush: Fun match! Team Panther was great fun as rudos. I’m not sure why Metro & Rush aren’t teaming up more often, because they’re usually fun together. Maybe CMLL is concerned they’ll break everyone in half? That’s a legitimate concern. Técnicos all looked good too.

Volador/Mascara, suspended Blue Panther has a match, Blue Demon says some stuff

CMLL (MON) 12/19/2011 Arena Puebla [Porra Fresa]
1) Akron & Ares b Black Tiger & Silver
Rudos took 2/3. First Silver match since June.
2) Leono, Molotov, Starman b Artillero, Disturbio, Súper Comando
Tecnicos take 1/3.
3) Cancerbero, Misterioso Jr., Raziel b Ángel Azteca Jr., Pegasso, Stuka Jr.
Rudos take 1/3.
4) Black Warrior, Blue Panther, Máximo DQ Felino, Mr. Águila, Pólvora
Suspended Blue Panther wrestled anyway. Felino attacked him before the whistle. Straight falls for the tecnicos, Felino fouled Panther.
5) Rey Bucanero, Terrible, Volador Jr. b Atlantis, La Máscara, Rush
Rush replaced Mascara Dorada. Tecnicos took 1, rudos 2. Mascara had Terrible in la campana, but Tirantes was looking the wrong way. La Mascara let go to yell at Tirantes, and Volador snuck behind him for the backcracker and the win. Volador challenged Mascara to a singles match.

Much improved attendance, according to the recap. I can almost not believe they’re setting up another La Mascara singles match, but then again I can totally believe it. Nice serious suspension here.

Other News

The Wrestling Observer newsletter says Guerra de Titanes drew 8,500 and Sin Piedad 6,400. Both shows got write ups – positive on the AAA show, very down on the finish to Panther/Felino. Meltzer had the same thought on Mascara Ano 2000 Jr. – someone from CMLL backed out at the last minute (which seems to be a continual nuisance for AAA), but we don’t know exactly who. This line amused me:

While they tried to keep the Vampiro return quiet, word did leak out a few hours before the show started.

Perhaps they should’ve told Vampiro not to Twitter about it?

Today’s the big Oficial 911 & Trauma II vs Oficial AK47 & Trauma I relevos suicidas match. The IWRG show also has two more title matches. The Gladiatores usually has internet radio broadcasts of the show, hopefully they’ll be covering this one. AK-47 seems the most likely to lose; it’d be a big surprise if either Traumas lost, and Trauma I is the more successful on here. No one loses more consistently then IWRG created characters in IWRG, but the Oficials have had a lot stronger and longer run than most. I usually like my matches one on one, but I do hope this match features run-ins by every Oficial possible, including the one who showed up for a run-in and never actually had a match.

Blue Demon Jr. talks about battling lymphoma. It’s fantastic he’s been able to beat back cancer and continue his career. Meanwhile, Blue Demon Jr. has also been telling people that CMLL is going to make their own Blue Demon. CMLL has invited Blue Demon’s actual son for appearances on shows, and did mention Blue Demon on last week’s show, but there’s no actual evidence that they’re introducing a new luchador. (This would probably be as bad idea as a new Mistico, and they haven’t pulled the trigger on that either.) The real important truth here is it really doesn’t take much for people to believe a rumor involving CMLL. Especially a negative one – whether it’s another Blue Demon, selling Arena Mexico, or everyone leaving, it sticks and CMLL does nothing to correct it. I would never suggest people start making up rumors about CMLL to see what they get people to believe, but it probably would not be too hard if you did.

Dia de Inocentes is next Wednesday, by the way.

Black Terry Jr. posted video of Cerebro Maligno, Robin Maravilla, Sádico, Terry 2000 b Aerostar, Argenis, Gato Eveready, Súper Fly from February.

Lineups

AULL (SUN) 12/25/2011 Arena Lopez Mateos
4) Rey Kristal, Super Panda, Tortuguillo Ninja vs Hombre sin Rostro, Kilvan, Ronny Ventura
5) Flamita, Súper Nova, Yakuza vs Epitafio, Herejía, Trauma II
6) Iron Love vs Chico del Barrio [hair]
7) Ray Mendoza Jr. & Villano IV vs Héctor Garza & Texano Jr. [UWA TAG]

Christmas is looking like one of the busiest day of the year because it falls on a Sunday. We know Garza and Texano are working here and Neza. The CMLL guys going to Laguna are working at least two different places now. I figure that means a lot of people are working lots of places.

CMLL (TUE) 12/27/2011 Arena Mexico
1) Bengala & Camaleón vs Cholo & Zayco
2) Astral, Fantasy, Shockercito vs Mercurio, Pequeño Nitro, Pequeño Warrior
3) Diamante, Pegasso, Rey Cometa vs Arkángel de la Muerte, Cancerbero, Nosferatu
4) Black Warrior, Titán, Triton vs Olímpico, Psicosis, Virus
5) Ángel de Oro, Hijo del Fantasma, Super Porky vs Averno, Dragón Rojo Jr., Mephisto

No Angel de Oro vs Dragon Rojo title match quite yet. Maybe 2012.

Black Warrior mentoring would be funny. Olimpico should spend the match trying to get Titan & Triton to turn. I wonder which one is Virus’ project. He sticks out there.

I’d replace Arkangel with Skandalo just to have a full match of flying guys vs round guys. This is why you should never take my opinion seriously.
