recap

Polvora vs Fuego is not quite worth the wait, but is still OK.

shown at regular speed

Ángel Azteca, Sensei, Starman vs Exterminador, Loco Max, Malefico: Really unremarkable, except if you’ve been dying to see Malefico & Exterminador on this show (and maybe for Malefico’s bump, not in slow motion.)

Crazy related theory: This has nothing to do with anything, but seeing not-bald Loco Max here reminded me that Palacio Negro won his hair back in September. That doesn’t seem like a thing you’d be doing if you were planning him to be working under a new mask with a new name, and the first vignette for the new star aired five days later. (It also aired on this show, which appeared to be taped months ago.) I am convinced there was a big change of plans from whoever(s) were originally supposed to be the Nueva Figura, the vignette was attributed to Shocker as a way to get out of it, except then Palacio Negro & Metal Blanco had to get new names to justify them being new wrestlers and they just grabbed the first two names they had laying around to use. CMLL didn’t really want to rename Palacio & Metal, but they didn’t want to drop their own hype either and we got a bad decision to cover up for a mysterious change of plans. That sounds more like CMLL in 2010 than 2011, actually.

the end

Pólvora vs Fuego for the Mexican National Welterweight Championship: Just so you understand what kind of goofball you’re reading, I am now screaming at my TV anytime someone sets Pólvora (or Misterioso) on the top rope without even realizing I’m doing it. This would probably be the second best match Pólvora’s ever had, but it was a few steps down from the Angel de Oro match. Crowd not caring at all hurt, the section in the third fall where they were completely lost also a bit of a problem, and Pólvora was more moving at normal Pólvora speed (and focus) than that match. Still, we’d be impressed if we got this match out of him in March.
