Palacio Negro as Titan

Shocker, Titán, Triton vs Atlantis, Guerrero Maya Jr., Sagrado: This match peaked in quality wrestling in the first three minutes of Titan and Guerrero Maya mat wrestling. The rest looked like tried to do an out of control angry brawl and it didn’t come off quite as intense as they wanted, and with three weird and abrupt finishes. (It also could’ve been people not being ready/interested in working the match that day. I really don’t know.) Titan and Triton did not do any of their trademark offense; if CMLL thinks they’re keeping their prior identities a mystery, they’re massively delusional and putting their effort behind the some really counter productive actions. There may be a good match with this combination, but this was not it.

Ephesto, Mephisto, Volador Jr. vs La Máscara, Rush, Super Porky: Okay usual match with these six guys, plus Volador related wackiness. What happened with his shirt and his mask was probably better than whatever spot they were going to do, though it takes a lot of faith to tope a blind man.

Mascara keeps his title, Zeuxis & Comandante do not keep theirs, Shocker

CMLL (TUE) 12/06/2011 Arena Mexico [CMLL, Record]
***Fan Apperciation Day, December (TUE)***
1) Bengala & Camaleón b Artillero & Súper Comando
2) Misterioso Jr., Shigeo Okumura, Yoshihashi b Diamante, Fuego, Sangre Azteca
Rudos took 1/3.
3) Lluvia & Luna Mágica b La Comandante & Zeuxis [REINA TAG]
Tecnicas took 1/3 to win the championships. Looks like the rudas had the third fall won, but got careless and beat.
4) Ángel de Oro, Jushin Lyger, Valiente b Dragón Rojo Jr., Rey Escorpion, Terrible
Tecnicos took 2/3, Lyger pinning Terrible in the third.
5) La Máscara b Mephisto [NWA MIDDLE]
Seconds were Brazo de Oro & Kahoz (who had issues during the match) and the commissioner was Rambo. Mascara took 2nd and 3rd to keep the title, surviving a valagueza to get the campana on once again.

Disappointing title change. This is the second REINA title to change hands in it’s first CMLL defense, both champions going to less entertaining luchadoras. The drop off here is a bit more than Ray to Silueta. It’s also seems a bit dispiriting – go to Japan for six months for us, and we’ll reward you by having you lose your first match back – though Zeuxis didn’t seem too upset about it. Their match this past week was not as problematic as the first, but this was not a situation where obvious improvement was rewarded with a title belt. This was more a situation where everyone in CMLL gets to a participation badge. It is possible the title change happened because Lluvia and Luna are going to Japan and both Zeuxis and Comandante weren’t. (Comandante did not seem very eager to go back in interviews.) Even then, I’m not sure these are the right two people. It is only the REINA tag team titles, maybe it doesn’t need this much examination.

The main event is better, if only because it looks like CMLL is actually getting behind someone. (Three months from now, when Mascara has been in random trios for the duration, you can look back at this sentence at laugh.) Even they’re not actually going to do something, it helps to look like they might.

Shocker returned to Twitter this morning, confirming he out due to personal problems. I hope things improve for him. It may be a little while before he turns up in CMLL.

Sangre Azteca says he’s not jumping to Perros del Mal. I am still not actually convinced Perros del Mal actually had someone particular in mind when they announced it, and were just expecting something to work out in their favor. That seems the more Perros del Mal way.

Blue Panther believes WWE popularity in Mexico is a fad. I think that’s what you have to say right now, if you believe it or not, but there is some evidence for it.

1) Esfinge vs Ángel del Mal
2) León Blanco & Metatrón vs Exterminador & Infierno
3) Pegasso & Rey Cometa vs Arkángel de la Muerte & Skándalo
4) Estrellita, Goya Kong, Marcela vs Amapola, La Comandante, Princesa Blanca

No evident carry over from last week, but that’s the current trios champs teaming up against a motley crew of tecnicos.

I think Leon Blanco is a tecnico now?
