In past years, Mexico teleton has replaced the usual lucha libre shows during the first week of December. This year, the show is still on, but not as all over the place as past years, and it does not appear any lucha libre show is affected. Still a good cause.

————

52MX: Atlantis’s crew vs Shocker’s crew! Also Volador has trouble remaining a masked wrestlers.

LATV: La Mascara vs Averno and others.

TF: They keep going backwards in time, so maybe I’ll get Polvora vs Fuego. Or Alfonso Dantes vs Solitario.

————

CMLL: Blue Panther vs Felino has to be on the main show, right? Probably also Invasors vs Flyers.

AAA-Regional: seven match show and maybe stretched over two weeks makes this mostly unpredictable. Probably the bottom 4 here – mixed match, Dragon/Tito vs Sugi/Super, Exoticos, Abyss/Chessman vs Tiger/Lider

AAA-Mexico: and here would be top 3 – Wagner/Zorro/Psycho vs Park/Nicho/Octagon, Fenix/Jack vs Perro Jr./Halloween and GUNNER vs MONSTER CLOWN.

FOX: Guerreros vs Atlantis/Delta/Lyger, and Lee/Fuego/Metro vs Euforia/Polvora/Virus

C3: insta-Mephisto/Mascara feud, the return of Rey Cometa (luckily it didn’t take 75 years),

GDL: Pierrothio vs Bam Bam! It was good last time.

Puebla: Virus vs Dragon Lee.

ACM: Ninja on Ninja violence

PdM: Still don’t know, but they should be on Arena AFicion.

IWRG: Bestia/Damian/X-Fly vs Espiritu/Traumas

pretty sure lucha libre is real, because who'd hit each other this hard in a fake match?

recap

Amapola, Luna Mágica, Marcela vs Ayumi, Mima Shimoda, Ray: Blurb: Unexpectedly fun. The match worked in a way I totally was not expecting (though it makes sense – in a vacuum), and in a way that makes me wonder which Japanese magazine photographers happened to be in Guadalajara that day. Good change of pace.

Atlantis, Máscara Dorada, Rush vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto: Blurb: fine enough match. Started slow in the first fall but picked up during the last two. Dorada is really nifty.

Virus/Lee, new TRT, Medico Asesino, Cibernetico on Konnan Big & 2011

CMLL (MON) 11/28/2011 Arena Puebla [Es Imagen (3), Es Imagen (4), Es Imagen (5), Porra Fresa]
1) Asturiano, Black Tiger, Tigre Rojo b Ares, King Jaguar, Policeman
Astruiano had his third place weight lifting trophy with him. Tecnicos took 1/3.
2) Astral, Eléctrico, Shockercito b Pequeño Nitro, Pequeño Olímpico, Pequeño Violencia
Tecnicos took 1/3.
3) Virus b Dragon Lee [CMLL SL]
Rush was Dragon Lee’s second. Virus took falls 1/3 to keep the title, winnings via motocicleta.
4) Olímpico, Psicosis, Volador Jr. b Ángel de Oro, Hijo del Fantasma, Valiente
Rudos took 1/3, Volador pulling Valiente’s mask and rolling him up.
5) Atlantis, Blue Panther, La Máscara DQ Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas
Tecnicos take 2/3. Niebla fouled Atlantis.

CMLL’s come the closest they’ve going to come to acknowledging Texano’s departure by announcing a new TRT. Tiger is the new T, with a new open back mask. It’s a bit funny he’s switching masks again, since this last week’s El Luchador was the big debut of the mask he’s just given up. This is a huge step up for him and a change in chemistry for the group. It would seem like Terrible is staying, or they wouldn’t have bothered to redo this group.

AAA’s announced Guerra de Titanes will be on (Sky) PPV. No prices yet.

El Hijo del Medico Asesino posted a photo of himself with his WWE contract. I told you people to stop doing this, but this is proof he’s actually signed. SuperLuchas mentioned he was offered a developmental deal back in January, and it’s only now that a contract has been signed. I don’t know if anyone else will take quite this long, but we shouldn’t expect quick resolution to any of these situations.

Tonight’s IWRG show has Bugambilia del Norte vs Eterno in a hair match. Porra Fresa notes Eterno has also agreed to a hair match with Demelodor just 10 days later. At the DTU show, it sounded like they were combining those two matches in to one, but it does point towards tonight’s finish. Bugambilia has surprisingly won every match so far in the feud.

The hype for Cibernetico vs Konnan Big is they’ve faced two times prior and Cibernetico has beat Konnan Big both times. Konnan Big’s TV host friend has also he’ll appear on TV in only his underwear if Konnan Big loses again. Cibernetico says he looks forward to humiliating both of the them. Cibernetico also notes 2011 has not been his best year (yes). Cibernetico describes this year as ‘regular’ and says there were situations that prevented it from being great. However, Cibernetico sees a big turnaround for lucha libre in 2012 – “before the world ends.”

CMLL really ought to do something with Guerrero Maya and that too.

Kcidis’ artwork is featured in a new book.

Black Terry Jr. has video of Rocky Santana vs Black Terry vs Paranoiko from the DTU show @ Arena Naucalpan.

Rob has highlights of Dr. Wagner Jr.’s bedside manner and CMLL minis being awesome.

top six stories of the last two weeks

  1. Texano Jr. announced he was leaving CMLL to join the Perros del Mal. This follows the Hector Garza and Mascarita Dorada departures. The Perros have teased they’ll have another person jumping from CMLL on the Perros anniversary show (and plenty of names have been rumored.) Much like Garza, Texano showed up for CMLL after his departure was announced, placing 3rd in the top division of their bodybuilding competition. Unlike Garza, CMLL’s actually somewhat acknowledged Texano’s departure – Tiger will take his place in TRT.
  2. After teasing Blue Panther vs Negro Casas since June, CMLL held a press conference to announce their hair match for 12/16. By the time they signed the contract, it was Blue Panther vs Felino. CMLL’s subtly set up a possible tag match change with Negro Casas & Shocker getting involved. CMLL seems to have backed away from the last week with promos and promotion focusing exclusively on Panther & Felino.
  3. AAA’s announced Mesias & Jeff Jarrett for the Heavyweight title, LA Park vs Dr. Wagner for the Latin American title for their 12/16 Guerra de Titanes show. Mascarita Dorada will also have his first match back.
  4. At the only AAA TV taping of the fortnight, LA Park attacked Dr. Wagner Jr. continued to feud. El Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr. was introduced as his father’s second for the title match. Jack Evans continues to get surprise pinfalls on Perro Jr. TNA superstar Gunner debuted to go for a bounty on Mesias. Mesias was too hurt to wrestle, so we believe Gunner made some nice money. Nicho and Lider continue to feud to set up a match on Guerra de Titanes. Super Fly is back to push via violent beating.
  5. Shocker announced his new group of Metro, Titan (ex-Palacio Negro) and Triton (ex-Metal Blanco). They are feuding with Atlantis’ group (as rudos), after stealing their group name. Meanwhile, there’s another Triton very unhappy his name is not just his name.
  6. CMLL’s annual bodybuilding contest took place on 11/24. Winners were Picudo Jr. (students), Pequeno Olimpico (mini), Dark Angel (women, six years in a row despite a really bad fall two days prior), Soberano (beginners), Electrico (intermediate), and Valiente (advanced). Last year’s “Mr. CMLL” Rush was at the show but did not participate.

Other news

  • Dragon Rojo defeated Jushin Lyger for the CMLL Middleweight Championship, largely due to Ultimo Guerrero’s help. Lyger seems to be looking for a revenge match.
  • Also: La Mascara beat Averno for the NWA Middleweight Championship. Averno is still trios champion and hanging around in limbo. And Ayumi beat Marcela for the CMLL’s women title in Japan.
  • Argos & Drago had injuries that should’ve kept them out for the year, but turned up back in the ring.
  • CMLL will be sending, Valiente, Atlantis, Mascara Dorada to NJPW’s 01/04 Toyko Dome show, and Sombra, Maximo, Volador, Mephisto, Okumura, Diamante, Mascara Dorada, Rush and Misterioso to the FantasticMania show.
  • People who kept their titles: Super Nova (Perros LH), X-Fly (Perros Extreme), Pantera (Rey del Ring), Dragon Rojo & Ultimo Guerrero (tag), Virus (CMLL Super Light). Probably Pierrothito too.
  • Apolo Estrada, Shocker, and Stuka all won various ciberneticos to celebrate the Mexician revolution
  • AAA’s Quien Por Pinta La Corona wraps on 12/03.
  • DTU’s Hormiga says his mask vs hair match with Violento Jack at DTU’s anniversary show will also be his retirement.
  • LA Park doesn’t trust anyone, including Que Monito.

recap

Euforia tope will crush you

Fuego vs Euforia in a lightning match: Decently fun Fuego showcase, and then just a foul out of nowhere for no particular reason that’s not going any where. CMLL! Euforia didn’t seem to be in especial danger, that was what he felt like doing at the time.

Valiente!

Blue Panther, Shocker, Valiente vs Felino, Negro Casas, Rey Escorpion: wasn’t really getting into this brawl for the first two falls, but the thought the last came off really strong. Valiente and Rey Escorpion could’ve felt like two guys dragged in from another match but meshed well with this feud.

Mr. Niebla, Último Guerrero, Volador Jr. vs Atlantis, La Sombra, Máscara Dorada: crowd was way into this, but the guys seemed to be doing a lot less than normal and coasting on the crowd reactions. This was matches I’ve seen a lot on these TV shows but not as interesting as other ones.
