Just like the Anniversary show, Heroes Inmortales delivered what it promised. The difference is Anniversary promised a hair of questionable merit would be lost and needed to deliver more than that. Heroes Inmortales promised Big Things Would Occur, and occur they did. Still, in pure match quality, I think I liked Dragon Lee/Stuka vs Misterioso II/Euforia as much as any thing on this show. Maybe more. I will not soon understand why the first two matches couldn’t have been combined into one somehow and some of AAA’s most exciting wrestlers were left off.
Cinthia Moreno, Fabi Apache, Mari Apache vs Jennifer Blake, Sexy Star, Velvet Sky [glow in the dark]: This show was supposed to have a dome cage in the main event. It did not, they just used the normal six sided cage. AAA didn’t ever explain why there was a switch or even acknowledge the switch. That part was somewhat annoying, but I don’t think anyone much cared that it was a different cage than advertised. They didn’t care that the match didn’t have the same stipulation. Same would’ve been true here; no fan would have felt cheated if they had ignored the stipulation and just turned the lights on. That call should’ve been made as soon as everyone got the arena and it was obvious only one person bothered to bring/get glow in the dark gear. (And then people should’ve been asked pointed questions about why they didn’t show up ready for the match they were going to have, but that’s beside the point.) And whoever was directing this thing should’ve figured out a lot sooner that the match was only really viewable from cameras close to the ring. That was a failure of planning and management. Match itself was about what it’d be expected to be.
El Elegido, Octagoncito, Pimpinela Escarlata vs Alan Stone, Mini Histeria, Polvo de Estrellas [lumberjack strap]: maybe look at your chyrons before the show? This is the problem with using different people on different shows. As for the match, just spot after spot to set up the lumberjacks strapping everyone, not really much of a match. Casandro’s run in was really good, he came off looking great. In a larger point, it’d be helpful if AAA could decided if they want to employ Elegido or not. Either put him on TV more often, or don’t just give him the big show payday, that seems rotten for everyone else.
Abyss & Chessman vs Extreme Tiger & Jack Evans [AAA Tag, TLC Match]: This one seemed live better than it did on the rewatch. It was still good for this sort of match, but some of the big spots (Tiger’s legdrop and the big Chessman/Jack bump at the end) did not look as good on the second viewing. Match actually made sense as a match, so that’s good.
Copa Antonio Pena: Announcers talked about 10 people being in the match to start, so no one told them that Heavy Metal wasn’t going to appear. Match was actually perfectly fine for half the way. The entrances were maybe too rapid fire, but it worked well with to keep the action going with this group. Everything from Lider’s elimination to the finish of the match felt very prolonged and not as interesting. The live crowd was reacting to the Jarrett/LA Park stuff post-elimination well, so maybe that worked better in person. It did not work as well on TV.
El Mesías vs Sting: bad match at quarter speed. Mostly what I expected; anyone familiar with Sting in 2011 should’ve expected this match. It really did not help Mesías or AAA at all – Sting even got to clear out the rudos and got his music played at the end of the match, just to make sure you knew who was the real star and who was the guy who happened to be main eventing this promotion. Highlights of the match will look more exciting in video packages than it actually was.
Dr. Wagner Jr. vs el Hijo del Perro Aguayo [AAA LA, bull terrier match]: This one was lucky the Sting/Mesías match happened right before, because this really wouldn’t have been even an average match without that helpful comparison. Crowd, such as it made any noise, did seem to be into it, but this was nothing but lame brawling (not the wild brawling that might make a good match between these two) and the usual bull terrier match spots. This one had a finish and Perro looked fine for Perro in 2011, but this was kind of boring. Post match angle was really good.
Monster Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown vs Damián 666, Halloween, Nicho el Millionario [cage, all three mask vs three hairs]: Just a cage match. If this had been the first on, it would been fine, but it was the same sort of cage match we’ve seen two (or three) times before and it didn’t feel any different than those. The last cage match had a lot bigger, or at least a lot more audible crowd reaction than this one. Big spot at the end was nice, but everything else was completely forgettable.
