Leyenda de Volador, IWRG Trio Fights

Reminder: I’ll be hosting a chat on the site for Heroes Inmortales Sunday night. The show is listed as starting at 5pm both on the ticket and on PPV, but I have a strong suspicion action won’t actually start until an hour before.

1) Kaving, Tritón, Turbo b Alan Extreme, Dark Devil, Keshin Black
Announced tag match ended up as a trio, with Triton & Turbo replacing Rolling Boy and Alan Xtreme aiding the rudos. Kaving, debuting in IWRG, is Villano V’s son and brother of Kortiz. Tecnicos took the match.
2) Carta Brava Jr., Imposible, King Drako b Astro de Plata Jr., Astro Rey Jr., Saruman
King Drago and Saruman replaced Alan Extreme & Triton.
3) Dinamic Black, Golden Magic, Multifacético b Apolo Estrada Jr., Kortiz, Picudo Jr.
Koris replaced Avisman.
4) Bestia 666, Damián 666, X-Fly b Cien Caras Jr., Hijo de Máscara Año 2000, Máscara Año 2000 Jr. [IWRG IC TRIOS]
Technical battle for the first two falls, though the fans were chanting for lucha extreme. Capos took the first, Perros took the second, and Fresero threw powder in Mascara’s face to set up Damian’s win in the third. There were challenges to cage and title matches with these two teams, Los Temerarios, and Los Oficials (who weren’t already involved.)

CMLL (FRI) 10/07/2011 Arena Mexico [CMLL, La Catedral, Record]
1) Hombre Bala Jr., Starman, Super Halcon Jr. b Bobby Zavala, Cholo, Disturbio
Tecnicos took 1/3. Starman pinned Zavala with an Air Raid Crash for the win. Rafeal el Maya returned to Arena Mexico here.
2) Amapola, Mima Shimoda, Princesa Sugheit b Lady Apache, Marcela, Ray
Rudas took 2/3. Amapola reversed a Marcela roll up and grabbed the bottom rope on 3. La Catedral says “Ray is worth her weight in gold.”
3) Mephisto, Rey Bucanero, Terrible DQ Héctor Garza, Máscara Dorada, Toscano
Straight falls for the tecnicos. Mephisto fouled Toscano for the DQ.
4) Atlantis, Blue Panther, Shocker b Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas
Tecnicos take 1/3. Shocker & Atlantis got Felino & Negro with their submission holds.
5) Volador Jr. b Jushin Lyger [Leyenda de Plata, final]
Mr. Niebla & Shocker worked as seconds. Volador wore a Tron inspired outfit, and the crowd was 100% behind him. Lyger won fall won with a powerbomb, Volador takes fall two with “ataque depredador”, and Voaldor beat Lyger with a top rope moonsault side slam in a long third fall. Crowd was happy with the win.

Before the semimain, Mano Negra was honored and announced his retirement.

CMLL Gaceta has a post match interview with the big winner. Note the TVC Depotes microphone.

A chart: CMLL main events over the last four weeks.

09/16: La Sombra vs Averno
09/23: Atlantis vs Ultimo Guerero
09/30: Infierno en el Ring
10/04: Volador vs Jushin Lyger

The cage match is easily the least interesting match, but that they’ve run all those matches without repeating main eventers points to the bigger problem

Other News

SuperLuchas notes WWE lists Mil Mascaras as appearing on the SmackDown taping in Mexico City. Not sure if he’ll appear on TV; Dos Caras Sr. appeared at all of Alberto Del Rio’s matches last time thru. Both Sin Caras are listed on both tapings, for what it’s worth.

If you haven’t seen it, the mystery figure on the front page banner of radiocmll.com may play into the new character being teased. Or it may have nothing to do with anything. It’s been up since the anniversary show, and there was a video of him up thru last night, but it’s not there now.

Rob has highlights of 01/06 & 01/08/95 AAA.

Lucha Libre in Japan

Ozz & Cuervo return to AJPW this Monday, and will be on tour with them thru their 10/23 tag title match. It’s all trios and pairs matches with Kenzo Suzuki & Kaz Hayashi.

Eh. Returning of the non-VIP lightnign matches. Are they setting up a Marcela/Amapola title match again? I can’t believe they’d do that poor Marcela.

  1. La Catedral says “Ray is worth her weight in goal.”

Goal? That makes no sense. It’s actually gold.

  2. Is that what he meant? I’m so glad you were able to piece it together. I’ve been trying all day and just couldn’t quite figure it out.

CMLL TV started with Dragon Lee/Stuka vs Euforia/Misterioso in a do every spot you can think of in less than 12 minutes match. At least they picked good opponents to make Dragon Lee look passable.

  3. I believe the intent is to give us hints à la “What’s my line?” to try and guess an occupation, mmphh… should I ask “Are you in the postal service business? ”

Leyenda de Plata, as expected, will be in Fox Sports next week.

  4. LATV has the top two from Sunday. Arena Coliseo feud shown in highlights at the start of the show (which start a few seconds early.)

  5. Argos now wears the sleeves Mistico wears. And he’s dressed in silver. So if you were to turn the TV on you would think Mistico was in AAA now…

… until Argos proceeded to blow his first, third and fourth spot of the match.

  6. Why is Dragon Lee doing a moonsalt off the stage in the second fall of a opening match? At least save it for the end. He’s got potential but way too green.

I’m watching this Pequeno Cobra match that BT Jr posted and whatever happened to minis like Mascarita Dorada and Tzuki? Do midgets not want to wrestle anymore? Seems like most of these guys are like 5’0 now.

  7. GDL seems to be a repeat of last week.

That Cibernetico on the main show was the definition of mailed in.

  8. fox sports méxico had top two of the anniversary show (leyenda de plata with lyger’s win and cage match)

  9. hey cubsfan i just have one question how and where do you find all the indyshows around the D.F area….cause i live here i i dont have any idea?yesterday i tried to go to the indy show where the church San Fransisico is or the other in progresso 9 but i couldnt find a street, time or something so how do you do this..?
