top six stories of the last two weeks

  1. Sin Cara is suspended and possibly leaving WWE, which may mean a return to Mexico (and Averno not leaving). As predicted two days ahead of time, he did an interview with Record that everyone immediatly wished had not occurred.
  2. Hijos del Avernos shockingly beat Generacion Dorada for the CMLL Trios (which was less shocking after the first story broke)
  3. The DF Lucha Libre Expo took place, drawing over 20K fans in 2 days. Atlantis & UG teased a breakup on the CMLL show, Perro Aguayo Jr. returned (again!) on his show, and no one seemed to stick around for the AAA show (not a taping this year.) Fans mostly liked the show, did not like the CMLL wrestlers charging for photos and autographs.
  4. AAA announced the Verano de Escandalo lineup, with (another) Perros vs Psychos cage match and Wagner vs Park vs Jarrett.
  5. Oficial 911 beat Multifacetico in a mask vs mask match
  6. Charly Manson is back in jail.

Other news

  • Polvora defeated Valiente for the Mexican Welterweight Title
  • Hector Garza appears to be turning tecnico
  • Shocker returned from injury
  • Dr. X and Fuego continue to feud, with other Tuareg members getting more involved.
  • Nicho, suspended, continues to wrestle quite a bit.
  • Fray Tormenta announced he was retiring from wrestling
  • Perros del Mal created a handful of random new titles, gave them to friends and family members.

  1. WWE just announced that Cara will appear at thier Mexican shows in October. My guess is they’ll still try the Averno thing but if it doesn’t work then he’ll be gone by Survivor Series.

  2. DR LUCH getting his pic taken with L.A. Park probably would have cracked the top 6 stories…unfortunately Kurt Brown took the photo, so it probably will never appear online.

  3. I’m usually a big proponent of Meltzer, but saying things like Sin Cara will “probably” not be brought back doesn’t make him look good. They gave him a big win just prior to Money in the Bank, didn’t bury him and gave a storyline reason why he’s not there, not to mention that he’s Triple H’s pet project, nothing seems to indicate that he’s done, except this one quote. I don’t buy it for a second.

  4. @Yano: He’s was pretty clearly basing the “probably won’t be back” comment not on how he was being booked, but what people in the company were actually told.

  5. I don’t think Sin Cara helped himself when he did an interview without asking WWE for premission first. Since WWE seems high on Rey Misterio again, is it possible WWE lost faith in Sin Cara?

  6. @Yano:
Word of mouth seems to say otherwise. Dr. Lucha saying yesterday on F4D that it’s “less than 50/50” that he will come back was a bad sign to me.

  7. On the other hand, in the same F4D Dr. Lucha did not even realize that the Monterrey Simbolo who will fight Konan Big in some days is another Simbolo than the Cortado/Espantapajaros-Simbolo. So, maybe there is more speculation than information?
