Volador/Niebla, Rey Cometa, ex-WWF tour to Mexico

CMLL

CMLL (SUN) 07/10/2011 Arena Mexico [CMLL, La Catederal]

1) Artillero & Súper Comando b Höruz & Leono
2) Pequeño Olímpico, Pequeño Universo 2000, Pequeño Warrior b Bam Bam, Pequeño Maximo, Shockercito
3) Ángel de Plata, Metal Blanco, Palacio Negro b Arkángel de la Muerte, Loco Max, Skándalo
Angel de Plata replaced Rey Cometa. Team still somehow won!
4) Máximo, Rush, Toscano b Shigeo Okumura, Terrible, Texano
Okumura and Doble T had issues by the end of their match, leading to their loss.
5) El Alebrije, Olímpico, Volador Jr. b Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas
Volador pulled Mr. Niebla’s mask and cradled him for the win.

Volador needs to show Fantasma the way out of the doghouse.

El Fideicomiso (near the end) says Rey Cometa is on the verge of leaving CMLL. That would be sad and probably get sadder. It does not read like it’s a sure thing. Cometa is listed working Tuesday in Arena Coliseo Guadalajara.

I think Cometa can do better than he’s been given in CMLL so far. But I don’t think AAA is about to give him that chance; it didn’t the first time, and now they have even more guys like him. The situation in CMLL has to be pretty bad for the indies to look like a better move. Spending more time on your full time job is probably a better option than the indies right now, but I don’t want to see Cometa do that either. There needs to be more options.

CMLL in Japan
07/10 NJPW:
6) Masato Tanaka, Yujiro (O), Tomohiro Ishii b Strong Man, Yutaka Yoshie, Tomoaki Honma (X)
7) Giant Bernard (O), Karl Anderson, Hector Garza b Hiroshi Tanahashi, Hirooki Goto, Jushin Liger (X)

AAA in TNA

Jack Evans did not win a job in TNA. I think that counts as a win? I am told he looked very good.

Other Notes

Felipe Vega, promoter of something he’s calling “WWFX”, announced a series of shows featuring US names, from mid September to mid October. Most interestingly, the people announce include current TNA wrestlers Mickie James, Ken Kennedy, Angelina Love, and Scott Steiner. Not sure how thrilled AAA would be with that, though I have strong suspicions this is not exactly on the level. 18 wrestlers are announced (someone should ask MVP is he’s working THIS promotion – Perros still have never said anything about misadvertising him on the EXPO), for five shows in Monterrey, Guadalajara, Puebla, Queretaro, and Hermosillo. Five shows could mean this is really just two weekends, maybe a weekend a month, which seems to be the new EAW schedule. They’d have to draw a lot of people and have pretty significant ticket prices to make money on this.

Averno is listed on a show next Saturday.

While in Paris, Sangre Azteca won the APC Championship.

Rob has highlights videos of 04/22/11 CMLL, 09/13/95 AAA and 09/18/95 AAA.

  1. This is something that rarely get’s brought up, and something I am completely oblivious about? How much does the average Luchador make? Do most of them work secondary jobs to supplement their income?

I also have no idea about Mexico’s cost of living, so maybe an average wage thrown in somewhere to give me a grasp of a Luchadores status would be great :)
