Nicho on AAA, Maya out, 911 vs Multifacetico, Sombra/G1

Nicho’s post match speech from the last TV taping has been ‘leaked’ to the internet via cell phone, a few days before that taping airs on TV. That phone has some great picture quality. Anyway, the context of the video is nothing that wasn’t talked about before – Nicho saying he’s going to leave AAA because he was suspended – but AAA is pushing the storyline very hard. I know the easy comparison is to CM Punk’s recent speech in WWE, but Punk’s complaint was not being treated like a the top guy he feels he should be, and Nicho is talking about not treated with an adequate amount of respect after being with the company…which is exactly what the likes of Alebrije, Histeria and Psicosis II (irony?) were saying when they left AAA. This is AAA turning the Invasors into their own storyline.

For his part, Joe Lider glumly notes this is the end of 187, but isn’t following his partner out of the company or anything.

Guerrero Maya Jr. will be out at least a month with a right shoulder injury. Maya wants it clear that Negro Casas didn’t cause the injury – he doesn’t want to give Negro that credit – but it had been hurt at some point previous, it prevented him from finishing off Negro in the match, and then Negro exacerbated it with the cross armbreaker. Even as late as this week’s Ras de Lona, CMLL was pushing the idea that Atlantis would be staying a tecnico while teaming with Delta & Maya, and it’s not clear where this leaves him now. Maybe Metal Blanco gets to fill in?

Mexico in Japan

The blocks and schedule for NJPW’s G1 tournament were announced today. Both Sombra & Strongman were drawn in to Block B. The other eight in the group are Hirooki Goto, Hiroyoshi Tenzan, Wataru Inoue, Karl Anderson, Shinsuke Nakamura, Minoru Suzuki, and MVP. Of the 20 guys, 18 have a match each day and the two others sit out; La Sombra (and Inoue) has a bye on the final day, and people with byes on the final day are usually irrelevant to the final outcome. The first ever Strong Man vs Sombra match will be 08/05 in Tokyo. Nakamura faces Strong Man and Sombra on back to back days (7th and the 8th), and Sombra’s final match is versus ex-WWE-er MVP on the 13th. All shows are taped for one TV station or another.

CMLL confirmed NJPW’s Tanahashi would be returning to Mexico on August 28 and it “would not be strange to see him part of the CMLL Anniversary show.”

NOAH announced it’s schedule for it’s Junior Heavyweight Tag league a few days ago. Aerostar and Jack Evans have a couple days of non-tournament matches before kicking off their first league match on July 19th, versus KENTA & Kanemura. I presume they are the favorites – someone clue me in if I’m off – which means Team AAA gets a early opportunity for an important win. The size of this tournament is a lot smaller than the G1, so there’s no more than 2 matches a day until the final league day, July 28th, where Jack & Aero face the Michinoku Pro representatives. The night prior, Team AAA faces Team ROH (Eddie Edwards and Delirious) in a non-tournament tag match.

  1. That was some HQ cell phone video. Maybe AAA should use it for it’s tv tapings so they can get back on galavison. I can see Nicho in TNA with Hernandez group. But you have to wonder if people in the USA remember him without the mask.
