Reviews in that thread and this one are positive for the new promotion – no fouls, run-ins or other ‘Monterrey’ like goofiness. The show ran a lot quicker and smoother in general. It sounds like the changes in the third match were due to luchadors trying to work multiple shows and showing up later than they were supposed to. It was still before the match, but there was a rule that you had to be at the building at a certain time and they were not.

CMLL (SUN) 07/03/2011 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Fuego en el Ring]
1) Astaroth b In Memoriam
2) Hierro & Metálico b Gran Kenut & Inquisidor
3) Exterminador & Infierno b Ángel Azteca & Ángel de Plata
4) Estrellita, Princesa Sugheit, Tiffany b Estrella Mágica, Lluvia, Marcela
Estrella Magica replaced Luna Magica, still missing. Rudas took 2/3. Tiffany suffered was treated for a dislocated shoulder – presumably the one she’s always got braced.
5) Black Warrior, Brazo de Plata, Toscano b Rey Bucanero, Terrible, Texano Jr.
Tecnicos took 2/3, Porky splashing the rudos in the third. Recapper was very down on Toscano’s performance (or lack of any) here. Bucanero challenged Toscano for a hair match, Toscano declined and was booed.

Averno retained the NWA Historic Middleweight Championship last night in Puebla, defeating La Mascara. The Cinco Radio report hints at some help from Tirantes, but Averno still hit his move to win. This is a surprise, because Averno’s expected to be done in CMLL by this time next week, CMLL likes to do title changes in these situations, and there’s been no problem with Averno losing on the way out. They do have the rest of the week to do another title match, if they’d like, and they can always run Yet Another Tournament later.

The story about Charly Manson being back in jail got some traction on Sunday. La Razon put up a detailed story, explaining that Charly’s bail had been revoked and he was arrested at the end of Thursday’s TV taping. Cesar’s post on this made it sound as though Charly had already been release again, but this article says he’s still in jail. AAA has not commented on this situation.

The Guanajuato International Film Festival will be hosting a fast film making contest called “Camara vs Caballera”. Six different film companies will have 48 hours to use  a 10 person crew, with 2 professional actors and 1 professional AAA luchador to put together a five minute film from start to finish. Luchadors listed as participating are Octagon, Elegido, Crazy Boy, Mascarita Sagrada, Brazo, Octagoncito, Jennifer Blake, and Laredo Kid, which is eight and not six but I’m sure it all works out somewhere. The contest starts July 23rd.

WWE & OCESA officially announced their October tour over the weekend. Besides the two TV tapings Mexico City (10/15 & 10/16), the SmackDown will be in Monterrey, SLP, and Veracruz, and the RAW group will be in Monterrey, Merida, and Puebla. I’m not great with my Mexican geography, but that’s a bit of a zig zag.
