1) Artillero & Súper ComandoBengala & Trueno
rudos took 1/3
2) Dragon Lee, Guerrero Maya Jr., Hombre Bala DQ Apocalipsis, Hooligan, Rayo Tapatío I
Metatron took Maya’s spot, out of action due to Negro’s attack on Friday. Dragon Lee, back in this feud, took Enrique Vera’s spot. Tecnicos took the last two matches, the last when Rayo I stole Bala’s mask.
3) Euforia, Skándalo, YoshihashiFuego, Pegasso, Sensei
Rudos took 1/3.
4) Dragón Rojo Jr., Naito, Volador Jr.Blue Panther, Hijo del Fantasma, Sagrado
Rudos took the last two, giving a backcracker to Panther for the win.
5) Atlantis, Averno, Último GuerreroLa Máscara, La Sombra, Máscara Dorada
Averno tossed La Mascara into the post, causing him to be stretchered out a day before their title match. Guerreros took care of the other two in Atlantidas.

IWL (SUN) 07/03/2011 Deportivo Tlalli, Tlalnepantla, Estado De Mexico
1) VenenoEmo Extreme
Stream went out during the match, but Veneno is said to have won.
2) Cerebro Maligno, Epitafio, Fantasma de la Ópera, SepulcroEpidemia, Infernal Jr., Niño de Fuego, Quimico Jr.
Match was listed as Epidemia, Heavy Boy vs Centinela, Quimico Jr. When the stream returned, the tecnicos here were being beat up by the rudos. The rudos were all part of a new Fantamsa led faction, ATM, fighting management (as rudos, I think.) Rudos had Trolli with them and won this match. Like all the rest of the matches on this show, this was one fall. Infernal Jr. sure looked looked and wrestled like a masked Mad Man Pondo, though that never came into play.
3) DagaHeavy Boy
Daga, in street clothes with his title match, was out talking about the three way next and wanting to be in bigger matches. Fantasma de la Opera brought out new ATM member Heavy Boy to challenge him. Daga won the impromptu match.
4) Mike SeguraNarutoPesadilla [IWL INTERNET, #1 Contenders]
Naruto was a replacement for Low Rider. Elimination match, with Pesdailla going out first and Naruto taking a superbomb thru a table for…a two count, then being immediately pinned again for a three count.
5) Cerebro Negro, Cyborg, Peligro Freelance, Hammer, Tribal
Peligro replaced Veneno, while Hammer filled in for Eterno (who might have been in IWRG instead.) Best and probably longest match of the show, with everyone but Hammer looking good (and he looked good when he was getting hit.) Rudos took it.
6) Heddi KaraouiJorge Macias [brazilian shoot fight]
Jorge Macias replaced Zumbi, out with a bronchitis. Macias looked like they dragged him off the street, didn’t even have gloves, and this was an umimpressive looking worked MMA battle full of pulled shots and each guy getting finishing submissions regularly. Heddi got the submission in the third of three minute rounds.
7) Fantasma de la Ópera, Mad Man Pondo, ZumbidoÁngel o Demonio, Super Crazy, Tony Rivera
Destroyer (Hilario) was helping Pondo thru the match. A crazy brawl. Pondo’s team was bout to win, Los Porros ran in with barbed wire bats, ATM ran out to help Pondo’s team, and Pondo put Angel o Demonio thru a table that was slightly on fire for the win. Post match antics included more light tubes broken, ligther fluid poured in eyes, and Tony and Zumbido trying to stir up interest for a hair match.

This was the iPPV show. I think we had about 6 people in the chat who had bought the show, and I saw one (1) more mention on Twitter of someone else who also bought it, so that’s 7 whole buys.

I don’t know that there was a lot of more people who probably bought this, but they missed out on getting multiple shoutouts. Building looked less than half full from the shots we saw (which wasn’t the whole building.) The was one major outage during that most of the first match (including the finish) and lasted into match #2, and a shorter outage later. There were the camera choice issues you’d expect for a first time out issue (plus one of the hand cams was frequently on the fritz), but things generally went okay for this level of production and the announcers were knowledgeable and on target.

No mention of a date for the next show, or mention if it’d also be on iPPV. For $10 on a debut effort, it was a fair value, but I think I might have gotten bored with it if I wasn’t chatting with a bunch of other people who were also watching the show. I don’t think there’s enough money in iPPVs to make a big difference for a promotion and IWL has always appeared to be a promotion spending a lot more money than it’s taking n it. I don’t necessarily count on another one of these, I guess, but I’d consider it if happened.

CMLL in Japan

Strong Man and La Sombra were announced for NJPW’s G1 heavyweight singles tournament. Strong Man is the strongest man in the world, so there’s no real need for discussion there, but Sombra’s gotten a lot of extra attention because he’s a lucha libre junior heavyweight who’s going to work with Japanese and US heavyweights. It’s going to be a challenge, there is no doubt of that, but Sombra is the best guy in the promotion, and he’s the guy right now I most trust to work well and get over in any situation. I know that’s a crazy statement to say when people like Negro Casas and Blue Panther are still in the ring, but Sombra’s done some incredible things. It was just yesterday when the footage of him having a great match with Dragon Rojo; if Sombra can pull of that trick, I believe he can do anything. No worries.

That tournament runs the first couple of weeks of August, which means Sombra would be unavailable for any CMLL Universal tournament then. That means it’d have to start next Friday, but since there’s been no indication of that (no mention at the press conference, no hint Lyger’s on his way in, they still don’t have 16 champions), I believe plans have changed and it’s not happening any time soon. Maybe it’ll be a post Anniversary thing.

Other News

No full results, but it sounds like Atlantis & Ultimo Guerrero lost the UWE tag title belts to the Villanos in Arena Lopez Mateos, while Konnan turned on Rayo de Jalisco in IWRG’s festival of mask show.

Cesar’s blog is back, at a new address. Everything before June has been deleted. Post we’ve missed include Charly Manson allegedly being detained again for a few days in relation to his cop beating incident, talk about people who want back in CMLL, and discussion of why  international wrestlers are a failed idea (no mention of TripleMania here.) I hope he’s right about Lady Apache and Hiroka being welcomed back soon, CMLL could use them.

Zorro, promoting the Lucha Libre Expo,  says he does not know how fans will react to him. They are fair to boo him, he says, because he’s done much wrong. Zorro feels his only trusted ally at the moment is god.

SuperLuchas #420 has a Sin Cara poster

Luchas 2000 #577 has various mask vs mask challenges. Think CMLL might be headed to a cage match again.
