Metal Blanco keeps his title, Diamante broken, Juvi/Super Crazy

CMLL (SUN) 06/26/2011 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Fuego en el Ring]
1) El Divino & Hierro b Ángel del Mal & In Memoriam
2) Mr. Trueno & Rey Trueno b Apocalipsis & Mortiz
Mortiz was stretchered out after a Rey Trueno powerbomb.
3) Ángel Azteca, Guerrero Maya Jr., Starman b Arkángel de la Muerte, Ráfaga, Skándalo
Guerrero Maya was the big hero for his team.
4) Metal Blanco b Tiger Kid [OCCIDENTE WELTER]
Metal Blanco took falls 1/3 to keep the title.
5) Naito, Terrible, Texano b Hijo del Fantasma, Rush, Toscano
Naito got along with his partners and beat Fantasma.

Tiger is convinced he won the match, is the uncrowned champion, and challenged Metal Blanco to a mask match. There’s no explanation of why Tiger thinks these things, but he wants a rematch in Arena Mexico and then another one here.

CMLL (MON) 06/27/2011 Arena Puebla [Cinco Radio]
3) Astral, Bam Bam, Eléctrico b Demus 3:16, Pequeño Nitro, Pierrothito
4) Ángel de Oro, Delta, Angel de Plata? Diamante b Felino, Pólvora, Rey Escorpion
Felino replaced Misterioso. Not sure what the deal is with Diamante’s replacement – Angel de Oro is listed twice.
5) La Máscara, La Sombra, Rush b Averno, Mephisto, Mr. Niebla
Mascara got Averno with a campana. Another mask vs hair challenge.

Other News

Diamante suffered a fracture of his 3 of his toes and dislocation of another on Friday night, which will leave him out of action for five to six weeks. Toe injuries are pretty rare.

Juvi explains he’s facing Super Crazy because they have unresolved issues over the Mexicools not becoming the biggest faction in all of wrestling. It’s all Super Crazy’s fault, Juvi explains. (Juvi also takes credit for opening doors for Sin Cara & Alberto del Rio being in WWE. I’ve missed Juvi.) Meanwhile, Perros del Mal are talking about taking over Super X.

Arkangel’s 7/17 anniversary show will include an Arkangel tournament (the cibernetico?) and an exhibition by his students. On his blog, Mr. Cacao thanks CMLL for allowing him to return for the trios main event with Arkangel.

CMLL hype for the Dr. X vs Fuego feud mentions Fuego was supposed to be thinking about turning rudo (to continue the team with Polvora.) Hadn’t considered that. Anyway, he’s a tecnico because Dr. X keeps messing with him.

Lineups

indy (SUN) 07/03/2011 Arena Coliseo Monterrey
1) Dangerous & Galactar vs Androide & Rey Sagitario
2) Hijo del Ninja, Humberto Garza Jr., Ninja Jr. vs Neurosis, Sky, the Beast
3) Golden Boy, Rey Demonio, Simbolo vs Angel Dorado Jr., Dralion, Máscara Púrpura

Start of a new era show, so I could be bothered to suss out the alignments and post the lineup. I hope this works for them, but I kind of wonder if the problem with this arena is there is no long term continuity of luchadors. There’s vast turnover around ever three weeks, it’s got to be hard to form a connection being gone for three month stretches.

Super X (FRI) 07/15/2011 Arena Azteca Budokan
1) Eterno vs Daga
2) Marcela vs Rossy Moreno [GPCW WOMEN, tournament]
3) Histeria II, Oriental, Zumbido vs ?, Súper Nova, Zumbi
4) Villano IV & Villano V vs Negro Navarro & Solar I
5) Juventud Guerrera vs Super Crazy [NWE CRUISER]

Not sure how the women’s tournament works or if there are any  more matches than that. The GPCW SUPER-X Monster Championship, I’m sure you recall, was part of the initial tournament for the AAA World Heavyweight Championship. Perros del Mal actually showing up would be sort of interesting with the CMLL-allied talent on the show (but then, Super Crazy is already there.)

Mutlifacetico wins again, Gen11/Tapatios

IWRG (SUN) 06/26/2011 Arena Naucalpan [Black Terry Jr. (flickr), Estrellas del Ring, Record (4), Record (5), The Gladiatores]
1) Keshin Black b Alan Extreme
Straight falls.
2) Cinthia Moreno & Ludark Shaitan b Jennifer Blake & Sexy Lady
3) Centurión, Dinamic Black, Golden Magic b Avisman, El Pollo Asesino, Imposible
4) Multifacético b Oficial 911 [WWS WELTER]
911 took fall one, Multifacetico rallied back to win the last two falls to keep the title. Pollo Asesino tried helping 911 during the match, but failed. Centurion was Multifacetico’s second.
5) Argos, Máscara Año 2000 Jr., Pantera b Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro, Silver Kain
Mascara jumped Silver, causing him to bleed and causing the other tecnicos to attack the other rudos. Silver still took advantage of a misstep to submit Mascara in the first fall. Silver just wouldn’t let go, and so ended up losing the first fall by DQ. Mascara rolled Silver up to win the second fall, and then challenged fro a title match.

Pollo appears to have been Egyptian this night. I like to imagine there’s walk in closet somewhere in Arena Naucalpan, full of discarded and never used gimmicks, and Pollo’s just stealing something from the closet every week.

CMLL in Japan
Reina 06/25:
3) Ray b Silueta (9:30)
4) Manami Toyota [O] & Hailey Hatred b Senri Kuroki [X] & Zeuxis (17:01)

CMLL.com did post the results when both women lost, so I retract my previous sarcasm.

Lineup

CMLL (SUN) 07/03/2011 Arena Coliseo
1) Bengala & Trueno vs Artillero & Súper Comando
2) Enrique Vera Jr., Guerrero Maya Jr., Hombre Bala vs Apocalipsis, Hooligan, Rayo Tapatío I
3) Fuego, Pegasso, Sensei vs Euforia, Skándalo, Yoshihashi
4) Blue Panther, Hijo del Fantasma, Sagrado vs Dragón Rojo Jr., Naito, Volador Jr.
5) La Máscara, La Sombra, Máscara Dorada vs Atlantis, Averno, Último Guerrero

Cesar had this lineup yesterday. The Gen11 vs Tapatio feud is back! I will take this, even if it means Apocalispis.

As mentioned previously, I’m under the impression Averno is due in WWE the first week of July. There’s a bit of wiggle room, since the first half of the first week is wiped up due to Indepedence day weekend, but one of these shows is the last show he’s going to work here. CMLL’s been busy doing Averno/La Mascara matches everywhere they can (including lifting the ban on Arena Aficion) at a much higher rate of speed; I’m sure they have an end date in mind too.

Averno/Mascara, Cassandro wins an NWA title, GDL

CMLL

CMLL (SUN) 06/26/2011 Arena Coliseo [Cesar, CMLL, Record]
1) Semental & ZaycoBengala & Freesbe
2) Astral, Bam Bam, EléctricoMercurio, Pequeño Universo 2000, Pequeño Violencia
Astral replaced Pequeno Halcon, who was also listed as working in La Laguna on Sunday. Mercurio’s return to action. Tecnicos took 2/3.
3) Euforia, Inquisidor, Loco MaxDragon Lee, Rey Cometa, Sensei
CMLL.com says Dragon Lee returned from an injury that almost cost him his career. Huh. I assume they mean his post-Forjando absence, and not something that happened between now and the cibernetico he was in. Rudos took first, tecnicos took second, Eufroia got Cometa with a powerbomb in the third, and Cometa was stretchered out.
4) Ephesto, Shigeo Okumura, Shinsuke Nakamura DQ Dr. X, Histeria, Psicosis
Dr. X replaced Hector Garza, so this was a bit of random rudos. Team Ephesto won the first, Team Psicosis won the second, Psicosis fouled Nakamura for the DQ.
5) Averno, Último Guerrero, Volador Jr.Black Warrior, Blue Panther, La Máscara
Rudos took 1/3. Averno got away with a mask pull on La Mascara in the third. Mascara challenged him to a mask vs hair match, but Averno refused.

Blue Demon Jr. has had a busy weekend. On the Lucha Future shows in England, he’s held a NWA championship match: Casandro defeated Dr. Cerebro for the NWA Welterweight Championship. This is the same championship Sombra holds in CMLL, though both sides are ignoring each other (and/or pretending “Historic” makes it mean something different.) I think this is basically meaningless, because it’ll get defended about as much times as the CHIKARA title Casandro holds. In an interview with SuperLuchas, Demon talks about also deciding a lightweight champion and tag team champions. Demon also boasts about using younger wrestlers in the main event on this tour (he is, but that’s also because most of the guys on the tour are young guys) and mentions a desire to go into politics after wrestling, though he implies he’s got at least a decade longer in the sport. I can see him making the transition very well.

SuperLuchas #419 also has an interview with Pato Soria, who talks about improvements at Arena Coliseo Guadalajara and would like to change the weekly schedule around a bit: start running with DF wrestlers on Friday nights, then run shows with only local wrestlers on Sundays. It’s not a definite, just an idea.

An AAA/Perros show at Arena Neza may have drawn less than 100 people on Saturday. The Mexico/USA Copa de Oro final and rain is blamed; AAA’s been drawing well here, including a full TV taping.

NOAH announced the blocks for it’s junior heavyweight tag team tournament.
A: Jack Evans &  Aerostar, KENTA & Kanemaru, Ishimori & Sabre, Kenou & Kenbai, Takaiwa & Namiguchi
B: Ricky & Rocky Marvin, Kotaro Suzuki & Aoki, Nakajima & Kajiwara, Kotoge & Harada, Eddie Edwards & Delirous

Rob writes up the entire TripleMania, and posts highlights of AAA 11/12/10 in Leon, 11/27/10 in Toluca, and 07/95.
