CMLL (FRI) 06/24/2011 Arena Mexico [CesarCMLLRecord (1-4, 6)Record (5)]
1) Molotov & Super Halcon Jr.Artillero & Súper Comando
Tecnicos win falls 1/3.
2) Dark Angel, Goya Kong, MarcelaAmapola, Estrellita, Princesa Sugheit
Tecnicas took 1/3, with Estrellita and Amapola arguing after mistakes cost them the match. Amapola is good, but I don’t know if she’s that good.
3) Misterioso Jr., Shigeo Okumura, VirusMetro, Sagrado, Stuka Jr.
Rudos take fall 1/3, Virus finishing off Sagrado.
4) PólvoraValiente [lightning]
Polvora wins in 8:46 with a counter dropkick.
5) Atlantis, Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr.Diamante, Hijo del Signo, Negro Casas [Forjando un Idolo]
Guerrero Maya took out Negro to win the first fall, Negro & Signo won the second, but Diamante was hurt, removed from the match, and later found to have fractured toes. Delta & Atlantis got in their finishes to take the match and the tournament.
6) La Máscara, Máximo, Super Porky DQ Averno, Dragón Rojo Jr., Último Guerrero
Straight falls for the tecnicos, Averno stripping Mascara’s mask for the DQ.

Zacarias appears to have a new black outfit, but I couldn’t find a good shot of it. Atlantis wins Forjando un Idolo the same week Rey Bucanero wins the NWA LH title, what an amazing coincidence all Ultimo Guerrero’s partners (and ex-partners) are doing so well right now.

The Averno/Mascara show also visited Arena Aficion on Thursday, another case of an arena being run on a non-regular day. This makes sense if they’re hurrying to get this shows in before Averno splits town, but that means everyone booking these shows knows he’s going soon.

Ras de Lona announced Arkangel would celebrate his 25th anniversary on the 07/16 Arena Coliseo show. Matches include a Tuareg vs Cancerbero cibernetico (!), and a main event of Atlantis, Negro Casas, Arkangel vs Mr. Cacao, La Mascara, La Sombra. Also, Niato says he’s in until the end of July, and hopes to win a championship and/or a Mexican woman.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update, this week’s Ras de Lona, and Alfredo’s weekly ramblings.

  1. Went to a local lucha show last night here in el paso and they’re supposedly bringing in la mascara and averno next saturday night, hopefully that goes through!

  2. Women in CMLL seems to get better so far to be the worse as some people say, i think they prefer to see mickie james and dummies like lolita and the apaches for so long

  3. @Infermas: Well if you mean in terms of who is prettier? Then yes, I’ll take Lolita, the Apaches and Mickie James over Goya Kong, Luna Magica, Dalys, Estrellita and Tiffany any day. If you mean in terms of better wrestlers inside the ring? I’ll still take Lolita, the Apaches and Mickie James over Goya Kong, Luna Magica, Dalys, Estrellita and Tiffany any day. But I get what you’re saying: ‘AAA SUX CMLL RULZ’.

  4. Rained out tennis no less. Or at least that’s what it looks like.

C3 will be top 4. There’s my man Rey Cometa in the SEGUNDA! Exactly where he belongs while Delta main events. *sarcasm off*

So with Diamante injured and off the Tuesday semi-main – what does CMLL do with 72 hours notice? Insert Rey Cometa into his spot? Perhaps Guerrero Maya Jr. gets a reward for winning the tournament with Atlantis/Delta? Maybe Hijo Del Fantasma gets inserted to get his win back over Olimpico? Hahahahahaha yeah right. Mr. Aguila or Alebrije will fill-in!

  5. @Tim: Good point. Magnus or Dragon Lee will fill-in while Valiente keeps jobbing to Polvora.

Man I remember when Angel Azteca Jr. used to be one of the rising stars in CMLL. That promotion has just killed his will to even try. You can just see it when he wrestles and does the bare minimum to get by. What a waste.

  6. @Rob: Thats right i wonder why u dont mention amapola marcela mima shimoda princesa sugeith u talk about the worse female division in all companies and u dont have a point to say AAA ones are better, when all i see there is just a freak show of how two sisters fight with each other then they love each other then they hate their dad and stuff like that, i think ur a big fan of wwe stories

  7. @Infermas: You got me. I’m exposed. I can’t wait to see what happens to John Cena next. I just post here and other lucha forums so nobody catches onto the fact that I’m a HUGE WWE fan.

  8. @Infermas: I like what I’ve seen from recent CMLL women’s matches. The difference is that Sexy Star or Faby Apache on the card means something at the box office. No female in CMLL can say the same.

  9. I think CMLL would be better if they had an AAA 8 person division with occasional foreign guest stars, but I don’t think they and I would agree on who those 8 people would be. At least the people benefiting most from family connections tend to be the best wrestlers in AAA.

Also, I kind of have this hope that Silueta and Zeuxis might come back from Japan being actually good, because I was hoping that was the general idea of them wrestling every week. This is a crazy, misplaced hope and I’ll be very sad when it’s crushed.

(Of course, if improvement is the actual plan to do the Reina talent sharing deal – why are they sending La Comadante? Why are they not sending Lluvia, who really needs to get better?)

ACM is a rerun from 10/17/10.

  10. These commercial breaks on Galavision have to be a record this week. Seems like only about 5 minutes of the match has aired in 30.

  11. @Tim: Yep…First 40 minutes of the show felt like it was 5 minutes of the match. I gave up watching and just recorded the show when Cecilia told me the show aired in Mexico in a 1-hour slot. I realized right away that it being listed for 2 hours (turned out it only lasted 90 minutes) meant lots and lots of commercials. Watched a netflix movie instead.

  12. Just Saw that Time warner added AYM sports, and teleformula. saw that AYM sports airs a show called sobre el ring, and also noticed there’s lucha listed on that channel called lucha libre revolution freestyle, and there’s also lucha libre for next saturday. Can anyone help with what lucha shows usually air on that channel? thanks.

  13. Forgot to add…is there any other Lucha that airs on teleformula, besides the CMLL show listed for sundays?

  14. @Albert: what city? Time Warner is available in many cities and I don’t know where you’re from so I have to ask.

  15. @Albert: The AYM listings are always wrong. Those lucha shows used to be on there, but haven’t been on there for over a year (maybe 2 by now) and the on screen guide is just never updated.

Sobre el Ring is an interview show with Jaiver Llanes. I think it’s actually on Saturday mornings, but is kind of boring.

CMLL is the only lucha on Teleforumla.

  16. @LLL: I live
    in el paso.

@thecubsfan: Oh ok, i see, sucks cause i added that channel just cause it had lucha libre listed, well, ain’t all bad, extra hour of CMLL to watch on sundays will be good.

  17. @thecubsfan: Thanks for the Info, appreciate it, yeah, i’ll also keep an eye out for the sobre de ring, caught a bit of it yesterday, they had ultimo guerrero & Angel de Oro on.

  18. @thecubsfan: Fox Sports México had the Forjando un Idolo Semifinals from 06/17’s Juicio Final. So the event has partially been aired: these two matches and Semifinal’s highlights in Acción.

  19. @conjuarez: Also the always awesome Tercera Caida TV show had clips of every match except the opener. Their footage was from the (eventual) TV broadcast too, not just shot themselves from far away.

  20. AAA TV hypes the rest of the matches from Naucalpan as well as exclusive footage from Triplemania.

  21. @Calabcd44: I think it’s just a bunch of clips instead of a full match. But they did show Aero Star’s entrance from the show in the preview clips so maybe it’ll have some of the wild dives shown.

  22. TM highlights are just what aired on the PPV. But very well put together and including the spots they missed on the live show.

  23. @Arakas: How is it to hard for you look up the names yourself? You had time to comment twice (which was unnecessary since I had already posted it), you could’ve looked it in that time.

This comment does not need a follow up! If you follow up, without anything but “I’m sorry for being lazy.”, I will just delete it. So you know.
