Averno outsmarts his opposition, Angel de Oro is un Idolo

these trophies keep getting smaller!/CMLL

CMLL (FRI) 05/27/2011 Arena Mexico [CesarCMLLRecord (4)]
1) Starman & Tigre BlancoDisturbio & Mortiz
1/3 for team old man tecnico
2) Dark Angel, Goya Kong, MarcelaAmapola, Estrellita, Princesa Sugheit
1/3 for the tecnicas. In the closing sequence, Amapola took out Goya with a dive, and Goya’s right leg got caught underneath her. She was stretchered out and taken to the hospital for observation.
3) El Alebrije, Histeria, OlímpicoHijo del Fantasma, Sagrado, Valiente
1/3 for the Invasors. Fantamsa took the swinging gate bomb in the third, and was pinned by everyone for the loss. Finally the Invasors have found the one guy they can beat!
4) Ángel de OroPólvora [Forjando un Idolo, final]
Switched around to the fourth match, so it will air on Televisa. First two falls were quick, Polvora using the nudo lagunero and Angel de Oro using a tapatia variant. Long third fall, Angel de Oro getting the win with a UG style front superplex. Sounded like a really good match, Polvora’s best ever.
5) Héctor Garza, Mr. Niebla, Último GuerreroBlue Panther, Strong Man, Super Porky
Rudos take 1/3, capitalizing on some tecnico miscommunication. Niebla & Garza double suplexed Porky for the win.
6) Averno, Terrible, TexanoLa Máscara, La Sombra, Máximo
Straight falls for the rudos, Averno specifically. Averno shoved La Mascara off of him into Tirantes, and Tirantes called the DQ on La Mascara in the first. In the second, Tirantes slow counted Mascara on a casita, Mascara turned to punch him, and Averno fouled Mascara and inside cradled him for the quick three.

Ras de Lona mentioned Naito is headed back again. Over in NJPW, Yujiro turned on him a couple of days and Naito was kicked out of the group, so he’s probably getting some time here before returning as a face there.

A lot of focus on Averno & La Mascara, thought I suspect more in the next couple of weeks. The post contract signing fight came off well, and Averno had a getaway driver when he stormed out.

Texano had a TRT shirt, so eventually Bucanero won’t look so goofy wearing a Doble T one. (Though Terrible & Bucanero were standing there in the same bit wearing the old shirt, so it may take some time.)

Things sure are busy for Guerrero Maya, who’s got a Sunday feud, a Tuesday title tournament (introduced all the guys in the tournament on Ras de Lona and doing a fine job) and is involved in Forjando un Idolo on Fridays. Is SuperLuchas sure they got the correct Guerrero who joined the programming department? (Kidding.)

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s update.

Lineup

CMLL (FRI) 06/03/2011 Arena Mexico
1) Camaleón & Metálico vs Apocalipsis & Inquisidor
2) Dalys la Caribeña, Lluvia, Marcela vs Amapola, Estrellita, La Comandante
3) Astral vs Pequeño Nitro [lightning]
4) Diamante, Hijo del Signo, Negro Casas vs Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr., Shocker
5) Ángel de Oro, Rey Escorpion, Último Guerrero vs Blue Panther, Fuego, Pólvora
6) Shinsuke Nakamura, Terrible, Texano vs La Máscara, La Sombra, Strong Man

Fourth and fifth matches are playing off Forjando un Idolo, with the vets teaming with their top two finishers. That means the return of Shocker, just about 8 days after they stripped him of his title for not wrestling. It was inactive for five months, why didn’t they wait a week more?

No Averno, though I’m sure he’ll impact this card some way.

  1. I got a tour to Mexico from June 9 to June 18, So Im going to see the Mask vs Mask match. I can’t wait to see this.

  2. ihatecmll.com, huh? How about “imafraidofrevealingwhoiam.com”?

CMLL TV appears to be the two Forjando semi-finals, La Mascara vs Averno and the main event from 5/20. Which leaves Fox Sports w/ the women & TRT jobbing.

  3. Maybe Shocked is far enough along to stand in the apron and some simple spots, but isn’t ready for singles, so they stripped him before the Universal Tournament, where he would have to work singles…

  4. This was posted in the f4w online daily report.

–There are rumors going around that it will be announced tomorrow morning of a new WWE signing. It is not a major name star as far as someone a lot of people would know, but it’s fairly significant for a number of reasons.

Anybody think this can be another CMLL name?

  5. @Sammy: I don’t think there’s anyone in CMLL that they’d have a press conference for signing.

  6. @Sammy: If this “major name star” is from CMLL, the first name that came to mind was Hijo del Fantasma.

  7. It’s very likely Averno will finish the big match with a kick to the ballsack. He and Hijo del Perro have that nasty habit and I don’t think it would be different this time.

  8. 52MX has

    2) Guerrero Maya Jr., Hombre Bala Jr., Super Halcon Jr. DQ Puma King, Rayo Tapatío I, Rayo Tapatío II
    5) Héctor Garza, Mr. Niebla, Volador Jr. b La Máscara, Máximo, Super Porky

Between and La Mascara/Averno on Gala, points for switching things to get the matches airing where they ought to be.

  9. AFTER jobbing TRT to a random tecnico trio of midcarders and Porky they decide to hype them as a new unbeatable team. *thumbs up*

  10. Okay now I understand. La Mascara vs Averno IS the main event. So the actual main event must have aired on Fox with the ladies.

  11. I don’t understand why Inquisidor pretended to be Averno so Averno could sneak attack La Mascara. Doesn’t Averno belong to a stable with Efesto and Mephisto?

  12. @thecubsfan: Granted. But Inquisidor came out wearing the cloak and hood that Averno uses. Porky could have pulled it off if had a mask to wear.

  13. (Reality: CMLL either didn’t plan ahead and just realized the night of the show they wanted to do this but Mephisto/Efesto weren’t booked and thus weren’t at the building.)

  14. @Rob: Yea, this actually falls into the same category as “why don’t people always have their family members/partners second them in title matches”

  15. I’m sure Cubs will address it in another update, but it sounds like Meltzer is reporting that Averno has signed with Vince.

  16. C3 just sent shoutouts to anyone watching on LATV in California!

I might have also heard Toronto just get mentioned? Audio is kinda odd tonight.

  17. I think they think latv is just a la station; definitely got that impression last week. Much more coverage than that

  18. Two Semental matches make tv in one day? Nice

When did the Escropion/Metro feud start? Poor Metro had his face exposed twice in front of the camera.

  19. The people in charge of CMLL clearly don’t watch any matches with Semental or they’d realize they already have their future star. He’d make a good 4th for the Averno, Mephisto, Efesto group.

  20. What ever happened to Teddy Hart? He finished up with AAA and has been inactive for a 1 1/2.

  21. Wow the crowd HATES Magnus. He is the only one getting boo’ed in this match and they cheered when he slipped on his dive.

  22. This match is epic. PHANTOM DROPKICK NEARFALL! I cannot wait for Cubs to recap this.

  23. Oh that finish totally wasn’t a piledriver at all. I’m sure Cubs will clearly explain this in his recap.

  24. The main on GDL was pretty fun. Mr. Niebla is awesome at crowd interaction. Black Warrior should really be a rudo though.

  25. Is there even any evidence that Averno has signed with WWE? Or are people assuming based on him putting his mask on the line?

  26. He did have a tryout for WWE back in October I think and was in the Sin Cara vignette’s that aired on WWE tv. Plus, he’s in the states tonight at some show Cubs is at it seems. It would make sense if he signed.

  27. I can definitively say Averno did not come to the US to sign a contract today. (Though it would’ve been nice to talk to him.) I can also promise I will elaborate on this story sometime soon, but it will not be tonight. Let’s see what tomorrow brings…

  28. We will have a chat tomorrow night for the Perros del Mal show. Gladiatores radio is plenty good enough to do it.

  29. Why do I get the feeling the Perros chat tomorrow is just a decoy chat topic? Clearly Cubs wants to discuss the final setup for the Gen11 vs Rayos Tapatios upcoming match.

BTW – TVC Deportes will be airing the Perros show tomorrow but I’m not sure how it works. The show starts at 16:00 but the TVC broadcast starts at 18:00 I believe. They hyped only the top two airing so I’m not sure if they are going to make sure to get the semi-main in the ring at exactly TV start time or if they are airing the show on a somewhat delay (which would mean radio would spoil us while watching). Just food for thought. No guarantee the stream is up anyhow.

  30. Thinking we start the chat at the scheduled tvc deportes tv start time. None of the undercard means anything, might as well wait until we can see it.

Terecra Caida’s last tweet about the show made it sound as though the stream will be up, hope so.

  31. ACM has Lobo Rojo, Rey Demonio, Simbolo, Babe Fox, Golden Boy, Silencio in a ladder match, I think.

  32. That can’t be right, because there are people in this match who aren’t in that match. It’s definitely from the 05/17 show, because arenacoliseo.com has pictures that match this match. Pedro Navajas & Pee Wee vs Black Spider & Rey Demonio was listed for that show, but we never got results and Silencio for sure is in this match.
