CMLL Forjando un Idolo, Week 2

Minus the two that aired on Galavision. Everything is after the break, because I did a gif for every match. (I dunno.) Your computer may die.

Spider-Fuego (or what Virus is teaching?)

recap: here

Ángel de Plata vs Fuego, Arena Puebla, 04/18/2011: This tournament has been really good for Fuego, he’s a bigger showcase than he’s gotten in years. Plata looked good despite the loss. A well put together match.

high flying wizardy

Magnus vs Pólvora, Arena Puebla, 04/18/2011: Very basic match, not neither as complex as the other one. It’s the right strategy, it never felt like they were trying something they couldn’t pull off, but it wasn’t the most entertaining match. Pólvora always plays to the crowd in the most generic ways, and Magnus wasn’t going to improve on that.

Diamante goes flying

Diamante vs Hijo del Signo, Arena Mexico, 04/19/2011: did not have a good layout, Diamante getting offense in at the weirdest times. Came together late starting with the 450 splash, but Diamante still seems limited and Signo seemed to be playing down to his level. Disappointing.

Negro Casas has seen too many rookie matches

Puma King vs Hombre Bala Jr., Arena Mexico, 04/19/2011: the most strongly defined técnico/rudo battle I’ve seen yet. Bala completely had Puma’s a number and it took Puma to cheat to start to get control of the match. There’s too much stuff that didn’t look good to call this a good match (like both times they tried the springboard spot) and Puma’s a bit reliant on the same bits in every match, but at least he has bits.

Delta submission

Delta vs Metal Blanco, Arena Coliseo, 04/24/2011: An above average match that probably would’ve been better in front of a crowd that cared. This was not that crowd. If Delta is going to watch Eddie Guerrero matches, I hope he picks up more than just moves. This was all technically fine but kind of vanilla. Maybe it’s because they both wore white?

#epicfail

Dragon Lee vs Guerrero Maya Jr., Arena Coliseo, 04/24/2011: the amazing thing about the SSP miss is it was even possible to miss without hitting the corner or Maya. There’s not a lot of room there. Lee, who’s way too mechanical and has to think before every move, was completely panicked after that. He did land on his face, that may do it to you. Guerrero Maya has a great punch.

  1. NEW RULE: Dragon *LEE* is not allowed to wear red as long as we already have a Dragon Rojo. There are other colors, use them.
