1) El Pollo Asesino & Imposible b Alan Extreme & Saruman
Google translate combines the rudos into one name, “Impossible Chicken”. Someone needs to use that. Alan Extreme turned on Saruman (extremely) after the match, so he may be a rudo again.
2) Explosivo, Freelance, Golden Magic NC Carta Brava Jr., Comando Negro, Fresero Jr.
Fresero Jr. took Pollo’s spot here.
3) Eterno, Multifacético, Trauma I b Black Terry, Cerebro Negro, Dr. Cerebro
Trauma I defeated Black Terry to lead the youngsters over the vets.
4) Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro DQ Bestia 666, Damián 666, X-Fly and Monster Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown [#1 Contenders, IWRG IC TRIOS]
Perros continue to wear makeup in the style of the Psycho Circus’ masks. Ultimo Gladiador & Silver King interfered in the match. Psycho Circus were first out, then Damian fouled one of the Oficials and was caught for DQ. That should mean the Oficials are getting the show, but they instead all agreed upon a four way cage match on April 24th, with the masks of the Oficials & Psycho Circus, the hair of Los Perros, and the trios titles of Maniacos & Joe Lider are all on the line.

Tonight’s Arena Mexico show is the final of the Gran Alternativa.

Escorpion seems far more ready to be in a higher spot than Metal Blanco; there’s no reason he couldn’t have already been doing what Polvora is doing. Escorpion is also different enough from the other rudos, while CMLL is overloaded with guys like Metal Blanco at his position. However, Dr. Lucha, on his latest podcast, mentioned CMLL sees Mascara Dorada as it’s Mistico replacement, and I could definitely see him winning this tournament more to give him another big win rather than anything to do with either rookie. I’m leaning towards Dorada.

Mascara Dorada notes he wins these tag team tournaments all the time. Metal Blanco says he was exhausted by last week’s final. CMLL Gaceta rates Ultimo Guerrero as 100% in technique, experience and power.

Universo 2000 wants to start up a box y lucha libre commission in Lagos de Moreno, because the disreputable people are training wrestlers and putting on shows. This is a great plan, except other people claim there is actually commission headed by the local boxers, with no mention of luchadors. The local director of sports, who should be overseeing this, says he knows of the conmission but has no idea how well they’re doing.

Konnan says anyone who betrays La Sociedad will meet the same fate as Billy el Malo. I’m guessing he doesn’t mean “completely fine, just doing jobs for another group.” Konnan says it’s not time for Park to be champion and Cibernetico is just stirring trouble up.

Lineups

CMLL (TUE) 04/12/2011 Arena Mexico
1) Astro Boy & Bengala vs Disturbio & Zayco
2) Metálico, Starman, Super Halcon Jr. vs Bobby Zavala, Bronco, Nitro
3) Ángel de Oro vs Escorpion [Forjando un Idolo]
4) Palacio Negro vs Rey Cometa [Forjando un Idolo]
5) Hijo del Fantasma, Sangre Azteca, Super Porky vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto
6) Dragón Rojo Jr. & Último Guerrero vs La Máscara & La Sombra [CMLL TAG]

Title match could be good. Palacio Negro vs Rey Cometa may be the CMLL equivalent of a dunk contest.

CMLL (TUE) 04/12/2011 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Leo vs Metalik
2) Ángel Azteca & Guerrero Maya Jr. vs Malefico & Semental
3) Metal Blanco & Palacio Negro vs Puma King & Tiger Kid
4) Delta, Gallo, Stuka Jr. vs Shigeo Okumura, Vangelis, Virus
5) Máximo & Rush vs Héctor Garza & Volador Jr.

Metal Blanco has not missed a Tuesday show in Guadalajara since leaving Guadalajara. Not complaining.

Forjando a un Idolo tournament, other press conference notes

CMLL.com posted details this morning. The “Forjando a un Idolo” tournament teams:

Group Alpha (Negro Casas): Hijo del Signo, Hombre Bala Jr., Puma King, Diamante
Group Bravo (Ultimo Guerrero): Palacio Negro, Angel de Oro, Escorpion, Rey Cometa
Group Charly (Shocker): Guerrero Maya, Metal Blanco, Delta, Dragon Lee
Group Delta (Blue Panther): Angel de Plata, Magnus, Polvora, Fuego

I’d say Ultimo Guerrero > Negro Casas > Shocker > Blue Panther.

That’s thirteen of the rookies from about to conclude Gran Alternativa tournament
Out: Mortiz, Tiger Kid, Lestat
In: Angel de Oro, Delta, Polvora

Tournament is league format, with luchadors getting 3 points for a win and 1 in the highly unlikely situation of a draw. All matches will be one fall with a fifteen minute time limit. Judging from Puebla’s announced matches (Signo vs Bala & Diamante & Puma), the matches will be intra-group, rather than group vs group. The top 2 from each group advance to the playoffs

The tournament runs from April 11 to May 20th. There’s no breakdown of what happens where, so guessing

Block matches: April 11 to May 8 (2 matches on Mondays, Fridays and Sundays)
Quarterfinals: May 9 & 10 (Puebla & Tue Mexico)
Semfinals: May 16 (Arena Coliseo)
Final: May 20 (Arena Mexico)

No mention of what the winner receives.

CMLL’s press release has Marcela, Amapola, Mima Shimoda and Zeuxis as the women going over to Japan in May. Those first three will be traveling from May 5th to May 9th, but Zeuxis will be leaving April 18 and staying until July to train with the promotion.

Also leaving for a while: Mascara Dorada. He’s not just going to Japan for the upcoming title shot against Lyger, but for a three week stint. NJPW hasn’t announced lineups for it’s next tour (04/16 to 05/01), but he’s presumably on that. If Metal Blanco wins tonight, his vet probably won’t be around to team with him next week.

04/09-10 lucha times

chart. This week is going to be less helpful than usual.

AAA-US: Part 1 of Rey de Reyes, which is – I dunno, no one watched the TV the last two weeks after the PPV already made the internet. Hoping the title match airs. If you were disappointed about that TNA match with Sting and Jeff Hardy not last more than a minute and wanted to what a physically broken down guy versus a man who does not appear in a condition to work would look like, Charly Manson vs Zorro may be the match for you.

52MX: Los Rayo Tapatio call in the calvary: Apocalipsis, Escorpion, Semental step up to take on Gen11’s Dragon Lee, Hijo del Signo and Hombre Bala. Come to think of it, Escorpion being in that feud (and it not going well) may foretell something about the Gran Alternativa final. Main event is Invasors vs Sombra, Strong Man and Super Porky, a supernatural tecnico team.

LATV: I’m going with reruns.

Teleformula: swing match is Black Metal & Palacio Negro vs Hooligan & Skandalo. Please. Matches more likely are Sangre/Stuka/Valiente vs Bucanero/Okumura/Great Yoshashi and Doble T/Volador vs Fantasma/Dorada/Sombra.

————-

CMLL: Not sure. Two weeks on Dos Leyendas means the next week is the first GA Block + Black Warrior’s first return match. They also could ‘catch up’ to the 8 day delay they were on before and skip to week 2 of the GA Block. No hint on last week’s show.

AAA: Leon taping, but again, not sure which matches. At least one of Wagner/Mesias vs Damian/Park, Tiger/Jack vs Maniacos for the AAA Tag or Bizarros vs Lider/Parka/Espiritu.

CMLL-FOX: Dr. Lucha’s match of the year, Rush vs Rey Bucanero. Also Delta/Sangre/Stuka vs Ephesto/Misterioso/Polvora.

CMLL-C3: Two title matches, and the Panther/Mascara/Sombra vs Atlantis/Dragon/UG

CMLL-MEGA6: swing match is Angels/Sense vs Arkangel/Dr. X/Hooligan

Puebla: Week 2 of Niebla/UG

Monterrey: Possibly Ultimo Guerrero vs Espartaco and Dorada/Silencio/Stuka vs Pesta Navarro (thanks Alan)

Perro: a rerun

IWRG: trios three way

CMLL-TFN: a rerun?
