CMLL FMLL @ Guadalajara (03/05/2011)

Traumas vs Cats

Recapped: 03/13-14/2011

taped @ Monumental Plaza de Toros, Guadalajara, 03/05/11

recap: here

Dr. Cerebro, Trauma I, Trauma II vs Puma King, Tiger Kid, Virus: First fall was fascinating for Virus deciding Trauma II was going to get nothing and like it. The idea is not to be real, but to make people believe what you’re doing is real, and there were large sections of that exchange that I believed. The rest of the match was kind of just a match, a good one, but not a super memorable one.

Oro II vs Fantasma de la Opera in a mask vs match match (part 1, part 2, part 3, part 4): Oro II would’ve been better off being Plata. Not here, just always. He was more interesting as an aggrieved unmasked tecnico than he had been for his last CMLL run, with the botched spots.

CMLL, Valiente & Dragon Rojo, ECLL

CMLL (TUE) 03/22/2011 Arena Mexico [Record]
1) Bronco & Inquisidor b Metatrón & Trueno
2) Demus 3:16, Pequeño Warrior, Pierrothito b Astral, Eléctrico, Mascarita Dorada
Demus returned to the mini division with a win.

4) Misterioso Jr., Pólvora, Vangelis b Metro, Sagrado, Stuka Jr.
5) Atlantis, Héctor Garza, Volador Jr. DQ La Máscara, La Sombra, Máximo
Garza replaced Averno. Atlantis fouled Sombra for the win.

Valiente retained the Mexican welterweight title over Dragon Rojo Monday in Sinolra. Valiente landed his double springboard Valiente Special moonsault in the third fall, and Dragon Rojo was unable to make it back in by 20. CMLL’s back there on May 1st, with the Guadalajara Truenos defending their tag belts.

CMLL (TUE) 03/22/2011 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Fuego en el Ring]
1) Thunder Boy b Templario
2) Black Metal & Magnum b Camorra & Drago
3) Guerrero Maya Jr. & Starman b León Blanco & Ráfaga
4) Ángel de Oro, Ángel de Plata, Valiente b Dragón Rojo Jr., Shigeo Okumura, Virus
Corrected result. Virus defeated Angel de Plata in the second fall with a hold he called Motovirus. Valiente pinned Dragon Rojo. Dragon Rojo demanded another title shot, but Valiente pointed out he lost.
5) Felino & Mr. Niebla b Hijo del Fantasma & Máscara Dorada
Zacaraias was with Peste Negra, and seems to have headscissors Fantasma during the match. Rudos won the first, rudos won the second and the third.

Talking to Fuego en el Ring, Averno tells Mascara Dorada to “shut up already”, that Sombra still has a long way to go, and Black Warrior is messing with the wrong guy.

Maximo feels pride in his hair loss, because he fought at his father’s side and they gave 100%.

The Columbia School of Journalism has a set of articles about lucha in New York. The most in depth article is about the formation and ultimate failure of East Coast Lucha Libre, the promotion that was on Cosmotron last fall. The promoter says he thinks he lost $28K to $30K over the three shows he’s run, but he wants to try again running in New Jersey. You can probably make people smile for a lot less.
