CMLL (FRI) 03/18/2011 Arena Mexico [Record (5), MT, CMLL, Cesar]
***Dos Leyendas: Angel Blanco & Salvador Lutteroth***
1) Astral, Eléctrico, Último Dragoncito CO Pequeño Nitro, Pequeño Violencia, Pierrothito
Astral replaced Bam Bam. Rudos took the first. Tecnicos took the last two, winning the third via dives. Astral looked bad in the clip on radiocmll.com.
2) Diamante, Metro, Stuka Jr. DQ Euforia, Raziel, Shigeo Okumura
Tecnicos took the first, Euforia ripped off Stuka’s mask for the straight fall loss. Tecnicos brought a Fabian el Gitano shirt to the ring and pointed to the sky. Luchadors filled the ring for a moment of applause for Fabina el Gitano after the match.
3) Atlantis, Dragón Rojo Jr., Último Guerrero b Ángel de Oro, Blue Panther, Valiente
Rudos took the first, tecnicos took the second, rudos took the third – while Valiente dove on UG, the other two tecnicos ran straight into Atlantidas. Angel Blanco’s family was honored after the match. Horuz unveiled a new mask, resembling his grandfather’s mask. It appears he’ll be sticking with the Horuz name.
4) Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas b La Sombra, Rush, Toscano
Toscano was wearing a “Fabian” armband. Tecnicos took the first, rudos the second, Niebla legdropped Monito in the third, Sombra hit a big tope, minis brawled, and the rudos took it.
5) Averno b Máscara Dorada [NWA MIDDLE]
Dorada’s fireman’s carry powerbomb in the first, Devil’s Wings in the second. Long third fall, with Mephisto tripping Dorada up and Averno sneaking in a foul for the win. Black Warrior, reintroduced to the crowd before the match, attacked Averno and unmasked him after this match.
6) Terrible & Texano b Máximo & Super Porky [hair]
tecnicos won the first fall in seconds, rudos won the second, though only after nearly being beat by a Porky splash. Two different dive sequences in the third fall. Maximo eliminated Terrible and Texano eliminated Porky at the same time. Texano escaped the kiss cradle (thanks to Terrible distracting the ref) and dropped Maximo with Tornado Texano for the win. Maximo and Porky got shaved in the ring, with many of their CMLL family members (Robin, Goya, Brazo de Oro, La Mascara I think) standing with them.
No confirmed attendance number (for either show). Guess is around 10,000 here, which would be higher than the Manson/Negro and Bucanero/Aguila, but about 6,000 less than last year’s show.
Zumbido lost his hair to Hijo del Solitario, to the surprise of none. Exchange of fouls in the third, Solitario coming out on top. Black Terry has photos of that show.
Halcon 78 Jr., Mascara Sagrada Jr. and Gallo Tapado Jr. won a 12 team trios tournament to become the first juniors champions. They defeated a Queretaro team (Galaxi, Zarpe de Tigre, Sangre de Dragon) in the final, after getting beat for most of the semifinal against the Brazos (Brazo Jr., Brazo Celestial, Brazo de Plata Jr.) but winning when the Brazos decided to unmask them.
Record has photos from Fabian el Gitano’s wake, including his casket. Rey Bucanero, Brazo de Oro, Solar, Brazo de Platino, Amapola, Robin, Shocker, Tony Rivera, Rafael Maya, Franco Colombo, Leono, Sangre Azteca, José Luis Feliciano, Súper Brazo, Disturbio are those listed as being there, though that’s probably only a small portion. Many on last night’s show sounded affected by his passing. Hoy Veracruz, reprinting a Universal story, has quotes from Bucanero (he and Fabian were very close), Camorra and Rafael Maya.
That article claims Fabian died of “hemorrhagic pancreatitis”, not of murder or suicide. I don’t understand how we can get so many very different causes of death. It really doesn’t matter and it’s not hard to figure why a tamer story is being told here, but it’s doesn’t really help. Leading causes of that kind of death are overdrinking and steroid use; it probably wasn’t a scorpion bite.
Ras de Lona notes
- JCR interrogated both the vets and Draogn Lee from last week’s cibernetico. Vets thought that finish was all fair.
- Both Ultimo Guerrero and La Mascara pushed the idea the tecnico would get a Heavyweight title shot at some point soon. Mascara insisted he would not have trouble gaining weight to move up in divisions. He’s got the genes to gain weight.
- Virus and Sad Demus talked about their match, Demus still planning to get a return match.
- Mascara Dorada noticed the same thing about the Avernos losing their belts, so it’s an actual plot point. Wonder if we might be headed somewhere with Mephisto and Averno cheating blatantly to help their partner win matches; Mephisto seconded Averno last night despite not being on the card, which almost never happens.
- Alvarado family picture, which seems to happen every six months. There were Brazos I didn’t recognize (another Robin), and Muneca de Plata is MIA. No Psycho Clown or El Brazo, of course.
- Texano Jr.’s Wife discusses how she feels about her husband losing her hair. She’s not a fan of the idea.
- big hype video for the match, the day after it airs. I hoped this aired on the regular show.
- just a short video for Fabian el Gitano during the Friday results; happened after they had taped most of the show.
There’s been no mention from CMLL of tonight’s show in Laredo, so it’d be very surprising to see any titles switch hands. Should still be a good show.
LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update and Slammin’ Stan with Judo Gene LeBell.
CMLL on Juarez TV (5) airs at 3pm today.

CMLL is sending it’s lineups out like normal – I got this one from their ticketmaster site – they’re just not posting them on their website. Perhaps the big IE9 push is leading to a new website, and the focus is on that rather than maintaining the old? I have no idea.
Demus returns to have awesome minis matches. Not much of anything else going on.

CMLL (FRI) 03/25/2011 Arena Mexico
1) Rey Cometa & Toscano vs Magnus & Super Porky and Hijo del Signo & Mr. Niebla and Atlantis & Fuego and Escorpion & Último Guerrero and Diamante & La Sombra and Ángel de Plata & Blue Panther and Mortiz & Terrible [Gran Alternativa, semifinal]
2) Black Warrior, Máscara Dorada, Rush vs Héctor Garza, Hirooki Goto, Texano Jr.
CMLL did upload a video to it’s website to promote the Gran Alternativa. That one includes Dragon Lee with most of the guys in this block (no Diamante, Plata, or Scorpion). He’ll surely be in this tournament at some point.
Ras de Lona spelled Goto’s name “Gotho”, which really should take one second to look up and correct.
