Oficials/Clowns/Perros, Mexico preview

Dinastia Navarro by Black Terry Jr.

1) Lucky Boy b Imperial
Straight fall win.
2) Carta Brava Jr., Comando Negro, Imposible b Alan Extreme, Eterno, Explosivo
Rudos were made at Eterno for having teamed with the tecnicos. He’s been back and forth between both sides this month, and I have no idea what’s meant to be happening.
3) Negro Navarro, Trauma I, Trauma II b Barba Roja, Hijo de Pirata Morgan, Pirata Morgan
4) Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro L Monster Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown and Bestia 666, Damián 666, Halloween [cage]
First out were Monster, Halloween, Fierro, Murder Clown, 911. That left AK47, Psycho, Bestia and Damian. Psycho laid out Bestia with a big move, then dropped AK47 with a martinete. Halloween and Murder Clown both came back into help, and Monster Clown planched everyone. Clowns escaped. Perros escaped next, with AK47 still out from the martinete. The Oficials challenged Psycho to matches after the fact, and Psycho argued with his uncle El Brazo.

Tonight is the second block of the National Tournament. Everyone pegged returning champions Atlantis & Mascara Dorada as the favorites not just because of last year’s success, but because they are each long time rivals of first block winners Blue Panther & Dragon Rojo. We’re also watching to see Hijo del Fantasma and Mephisto fail to get along as a team, and to see if it leads anywhere. One of the other interesting teams is internet favs Valiente & Psicosis. It was just two weeks ago where Psicosis told Arena Puebla press that Puebla was his home and he’d always represent it, but CMLL only counts four ‘schools’ and he and fellow Puebla native Valiente are slotted as Mexico City reps in this tournament. This would be a nice time for CMLL to change their rules in mid stream.

SuperLuchas agrees with Atlantis/Dorada as the favorites. La Presna thinks the biggest match tonight is the women’s trios.

On this past week’s AAA TV (still haven’t gotten to) Cibernetico was shown to have a mole in the Milicia. Who could it be? Perhaps the guy who was questioning things and making secret phone calls last fall? The other important thing here is Konnan has moved the goal line on LA Park, telling him that beating Mesias wasn’t quite enough to get a title shot yet (so he’s not in the title match at Rey de Reyes.)

Also, Laredo Kid not being on TV is apparently a mystery. He hasn’t been on TV since late November, but there hasn’t been many TV tapings since late November.

CMLL public service campaign of the moment: Non-Violence Mexico. Rey Bucanero, Zeuxis and Polvora spoke out for solving conflicts through communication and knowledge. It’s a good cause, but an odd fit for a lucha libre promotion.

Super Crazy is headlining Insane Tour, three shows in early March on the exterior of Mexico City, featuring the usual XLAW crew, including a couple of Chileans. A big year for Chile!

  1. I half-attentedly follow AAA, so sorry if this question is really obvious, but what group is Konnan now affiliated with? I thought he helped bring the Perros in, and LA Park was with the Perros? Also, how can Konnan make title matches?

  2. Argh, confused cities.

@New Talking Wall: Konnan is leader of La Sociedad, which is the umbrella group containing all the rudo groups (Perros, Milicia, Manaicos, Legion if there were still foreign guys) and the other rudos who aren’t really part of a small group. They need an organizational chart!

Dorian is the one who brought in Park, who’s been part of the Perros at time, and other times seemed more like an agent for himself.

Dorian has some unclear power in the AAA structure, and Konnan has that same power, at least as long as they’re friends.

  3. @Alfredo: I think it is the same group. They are probably soliciting baseball stadiums in Texas. Might be the same group who ran the baseball stadium in Laredo with CMLL last year.
