recap: here

file: http://www.multiupload.com/U7X2DUYEJY – Teleformula never put this up, so this is the TV version. You didn’t miss much. Both are pretty eh typical GDL matches, there’s better stuff for everyone elsewhere. The Mistico/Mephisto three week program starts with Mistico cleanly beating Mephisto in the center of the ring, fine planning going on.

Mr. Trueno keeps his belt, Pegasso, Perros/Oficials, Santo

I’ll be Unregular Radio’s Riley Matthews show this Friday at 8pm EST, talking AAA and the Royal Rumble. You can catch the show thru the website, plus send in questions for me to answer, and then listen to me repeatedly stammer thru answers. It should be a fun time!

CMLL (TUE) 01/25/2011 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Fuego en el Ring]
1) Nube Roja b In Memoriam
2) Astro Boy & Magnum b Ángel del Mal & Semental
3) Dark Angel, Goya Kong, Silueta b La Seductora, Princesa Sujei, Zeuxis
4) Mr. Trueno b Puma King [OCCIDENTE MIDDLE]
title retained! Trueno even pinned Puma with a casita. Puma demanded a rematch for next week, Trueno declined.
5) Hijo del Fantasma, La Máscara, Máximo b Terrible, Texano, Volador Jr.
Maximo KOed Texano with a kiss for the win.

Boxer Saul Canelo Alvarez was in the crowd. The boxing card here on Saturday is being run by “Canelo Promotions”, so he’s surely got some tie in.

Mr. Trueno credits Satanico’s rudo teachings for the win (though he insists he did it cleanly) and notes that Puma shouldn’t get any more shots since he’s Mr. Trueno has now beat him three straight weeks.

Pegasso has been found! CMLL.com reports he underwent surgery Wednesday night on his right knee. He originally suffered his knee injury on October 29th, rested it a month, and immediately hurt it again in his first week back (11/29 Arena Puebla) on a dive. They’ve been getting medical opinions since. (This doesn’t begin to explain why he was on all those lineups – maybe they were hoping more rest would be enough.) Pegasso is expected back in around 20 days, which means this a relatively mild rehab for something that’s taken him out of action for so long.

Talking to Mi Lucha Libre, the Perros del Mal point out that if they can end the undefeated the streak of the Psycho Circus, they stand a pretty good shot against the Oficials (who clearly didn’t not beat the Clowns.) That actually makes a lot of sense.

El Hijo del Santo was no less than 10 minutes from my house, and I didn’t know about the show. Of course, it was directly against the Bears game and I probably wouldn’t have gone. Also around here, GALLI is running a title tournament on 02/12, and I vow to make a lucha show for the first time in months (unless I have to go to a birthday party, and it looks like I might, uh oh.)

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update.

Metatron’s around a lot this week. Think they’re doing a UG/Psicosis feud here, and next week is probably the fan appreciation show.

AAA on Televisa #971 (01/01/2011)

taped in Auditorio Benito Juarez, Zapopan, Jalisco, 12/05/2010

You want Mesias? You've got Mesias.

Espíritu, Extreme Tiger, Jack Evans, La Parka Jr. vs Cibernético, Escoria, Nygma, Taboo (and part 2): the layout of this match only makes sense in Cibernetico’s mind (Cibernetico gets hurt, leaves during the beatdown, Amadeus takes his spot with no one complaining, Cibernetico comes back after the comeback?) but it was fine at the end. Not fine at other places.

Monster Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown vs Damián 666, Halloween, X-Fly in a cage match: They did the match they needed to do with these six. Psycho’s dive was next. The end of the streak was a bit anti-climatic. Clowns have been complaining about being screwed here, but it feels like the match was designed to end the streak without the Clowns still being pinned or submitted. I’m not exactly sure how you do that without indirectly pointing out how dumb cage match escape rules are, but it would seem to be an important part.

(We’re ignoring Perros del Mal shows, because everyone one else. Pack mentality!)

El Mesías vs LA Park (and part 2): LA Park was a man possessed here, and there’s still few better in the world than a motivated LA Park. Brawling, not the lame Silver King time killing brawling no one believes in, but the kind of punches that sends the crowd running. They had the right finish and just kept going for a less interesting one, but there’s tons of stuff here before it to make this must worth watching.
