AAA-US: Best of, part 1

52MX: Finals of the trois tournament and the Starman/Dr. X feud. One may be more compelling the other.

LATV: a rerun! I’ve added the full list of the 6 times this is airing the same rerun episode.

CMLL-Teleformula: future champs? Oro/Diamante/Rush just happen to team up before the tournament against Polvora, Okumura and Yoshihasi. Plus, Mistico beating Mephisto completely clean last week was apparently the start of a short program, as the two team rematch.

CMLL

CMLL (TUE) 01/04 Arena Mexico [CMLL]
1) Astro Boy & Höruz b Apocalipsis & Semental
2) Arkángel de la Muerte, Bobby Zavala, Skándalo b Dragon Lee, Fabián el Gitano, Starman
3) Amapola, Princesa Blanca, Zeuxis b Goya Kong, Lluvia, Marcela
4) Ángel de Oro, Metro, Sagrado b Misterioso II, Pólvora, Sangre Azteca
5) El Alebrije, Olímpico, Psicosis b La Máscara, Máximo, Místico

Psicosis got away with a foul on La Mascara to win the main event, relieved La Mascara of his mask after the match, then challenged him to a title match.

Back to normal for Sangre Azteca: he accidentally leveled Polvora with a clothesline, and both Misterioso and Polvora turned on him. Straight fall loss.

Rudas won their match clean. They’ve been pretty dominate lately.

I would’ve bet Rush’s brother would beat the Arkangel trainee in their debut. I would’ve bet wrong!

CMLL (TUE) 01/04 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [CMLL]
1) Thunder Boy b Templario
2) Exterminador & Malefico b Magnum & Metatrón
3) Aereo, Pequeño Halcón, Último Dragoncito b Mercurio, Pequeño Olímpico, Pequeño Universo 2000
4) Shigeo Okumura, Vangelis, Yoshihashi b Delta, Fuego, Stuka Jr.
5) Felino, Negro Casas, Rey Bucanero b Blue Panther, Rotoporky, Toscano

Rey Bucanero beat Porky with a suplex. CMLL reports the crowd was too shocked to react. Crowd doesn’t appear to be a sellout, by the way.

Fabiruchis made another appearance before the semimain, but Pato Soria ran him off. Okumura beat Stuka with a reverse DDT to win. This appears to be the first time Yoshihashi has won a match since November 8th!

Metatron replaced the double booked Horus.

Mascara Sagrada Jr., who lost his mask as Mascara Jr. just six weeks ago, was back in the same outfit and mask on a Martha Villalobos show.

Fan appreciation show. Main event is not a title match.

Second match debuts continue with Hombre Bala Jr. Guerrero Maya Jr. returns from his illness – happy everything seems to have turned out well.

01/06 & 01/09 IWRG lineups

This seems like a day where I do eight hundred posts. These still deserve their own posts.

IWRG (THU) 01/06 Arena Naucalpan
1) Héros vs Alan Extreme
2) Dinamic Black & Magia Negra vs Carta Brava Jr. & Eterno
3) La Parkita (AAA) & Mascarita Divina vs Mini Histeria & Mini Psicosis
4) Black Terry, Cerebro Negro, Dr. Cerebro vs Avisman, El Hijo del Diablo, Gringo Loco
5) Pantera, Tony Rivera, Veneno vs Amadeus, Nygma, Tabú

Gringos vs Cerebros! That ought to be the main event, but perhaps this keeps everyone happy.

IWRG (SUN) 01/09 Arena Naucalpan
1) Centurión vs Epidemia
2) Dinamic Black & Eragon vs Alan Extreme & Hammer
3) Bugambilia, El Pollo, Multifacetico IV vs Carta Brava Jr., Comando Negro, Eterno
4) Black Terry & Negro Navarro vs Gran Apache & Rocky Santana
5) Máscara Año 2000 Jr., Tinieblas Jr., Trauma I vs ?, Damián 666, Silver King

Wow. I just assumed at most we’d get Terry vs Santana at some point, but that’s quite  a tag match.

Presume the main event is not the a big surprise, but just a guy from AAA they haven’t decided on yet.

A new Multifacetico! This would be the fourth – the previous is now Guerrero Maya Jr.

2011 AAA TV Chart
Projected Air Date (#973, #974)
Mexico: 01/23, 01/30
US: 02/05, 02/12

Note this before but should do it again: unless they can manage a one day turnaround (which is more like 15 hours by the time this show ends), this show won’t air until the following Sunday, and AAA will have aired one full month of repeat material. CMLL looks to be doing at least three weeks of that themselves, and I don’t think either is a good idea. Six matches also means two tapings usually, so this might be the only taping in January.

AAA last ran TV here in September, and they also opened 2010 in Ecatepec.

Main event is a rematch of Bizarros/AAA from Guerra de Titantes, now with Charly instead of Taboo. I’m not entirely sure AAA recalls they have a cruiserweight champion, but I’d much rather see Jack vs anyone of these guys rather than the Parka/Cibernetico match they seem to be setting up. Yes, even Jack vs Cibernetico, that’d be fascinating.

Both the 4th and 5th matches are more or less rematches from Guerra de Titanes as well. Elegido subs in for Lareod Kid and there’s no cage, but the same ideas.

There’s nothing much storyline going on with the other three matches. Milicia/Dark Family is a match they’ve basically done before with different names and still should be good. Minis match should be good, though it’s odd how Mini Abismo has been the least visible guy in his own group. Opener should get the crowd going.

01/22 & 01/23 CMLL/NJPW @ Korakuen Hall

These are fun. Both shows will be taped for Samurai TV.

NJPW CMLL (SAT) 01/22 Korakuen Hall
1) Taichi vs Máximo
2) La Máscara & Tiger Mask IV vs Dragón Rojo Jr. & Tomohiro Ishii
3) Máscara Dorada vs Ryusuke Taguchi [CMLL WELTER]
4) Jushin Liger vs La Sombra [CMLL MIDDLE]
5) Gigante Bernard & Karl Anderson vs Atlantis & Shigeo Okumura [IWGP TAG]
6) Hiroshi Tanahashi, Místico, Prince Devitt vs Averno, Shinsuke Nakamura, Tetsuya Naito

The big Taichi vs Maximo rematch…in the opener!

Taguchi only got one title match while in Mexico – bizarrely, for the national trios titles he wasn’t actually eligible for – but he’s progressed since leaving.

There are five total title matches between these two shows. Four of them involve CMLL luchadors, and this is the one I’m least sure about. Liger has to be coming back for the Universal tournament next year, so he needs a title, but Sombra’s been coming on strong.

I’m afraid Atlantis & Okumura will not win the IWGP Tag Team Champions. Note to champions: please don’t break the Atlantis, we need him around longer. Odd that the guy who speaks Japanese and Spanish is working with the Americans.

These shows are called Fantastica Mania. I believe the main event tecnicos are bringing the Fantastic and the rudos are bringing the Mania. The main event is a Black Cat Memorial match.

NJPW CMLL (SUN) 01/23 Korakuen Hall
***Fantastica Mania, 2011***
1) Danshoku Dino & Máximo vs Gedo & Jado
2) Gigante Bernard, Jushin Liger, Karl Anderson vs Atlantis, Dragón Rojo Jr., Taichi
3) La Máscara, La Sombra, Máscara Dorada vs Shigeo Okumura, Tetsuya Naito, Yujiro Takahashi [CMLL TRIOS]
4) Tiger Mask IV vs Tomohiro Ishii [mask, hair]
5) Místico vs Averno
6) Kenny Omega & Kota Ibushi vs Prince Devitt & Ryusuke Taguchi [IWGP JR TAG]

Dino & Maximo is a dream team.

There are weirder things than Okumura & NO LIMIT winning the CMLL Trios titles, but I wouldn’t guess on that being the plan here.

Tiger Mask IV is putting up his mask against Tomohiro Ishii’s hair.

Averno is going to be doing a lot of spinning and grabbing his arm on this tour.

The DDT pair of Omega/Ibushi are the champions. I don’t know this as well, but it seems like this is last match in this rivalry – either Devitt/Taguchi win the titles back for NJPW or Omega/Ibushi move on to new challengers. Either way, Sombra/Dorada were talking about challenging for these titles after their dome show.

NJPW CMLL (SAT) 01/22 Korakuen Hall
1) Taichi vs Máximo
2) La Máscara & Tiger Mask IV vs Dragón Rojo Jr. & Tomohiro Ishii
3) Máscara Dorada vs Ryusuke Taguchi [CMLL WELTER]
4) Jushin Liger vs La Sombra [CMLL MIDDLE]
5) Gigante Bernard & Karl Anderson vs Atlantis & Shigeo Okumura [IWGP TAG]
6) Hiroshi Tanahashi, Místico, Prince Devitt vs Averno, Shinsuke Nakamura, Tetsuya Naito
