CMLL Guadalajara on Teleformula #24 (12/05/2010)

Arena Coliseo Guadalajara, 11/09/2010

mad bull on the loose

GDL got better once they started putting guys like Demus, Escorpion and Semental in the semimain. That wasn’t a break out match, but it was pretty sound match considering their skill levels. Escorpion’s quebrada still isn’t working for him.

They tried in the main event, but they tried to do the usual match. It was nice they didn’t walk thru it.

1) Alan Extreme & Carta Brava Jr. b Centurión & Jack
2) Eterno & Hammer b Dinamic Black & Eragon
3) el Ángel, Pantera, Tony Rivera DQ Avisman, El Hijo del Diablo, Gringo Loco
4) Billy Boy, Decnnis, Tigre Cota DQ Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro
5) Chris Stone, Hernandez, Silver King b Dr. Wagner Jr., Electroshock, Máscara Año 2000 Jr.

Main event was light tube brawl between Silver and Electro. According to thegladiatores tweets, both guys hit fans with objects during the match. Silver snuck in a foul on Electro for the win.

Tiger Cota faked a foul in the second fall of the semimain, so AK47 unmasked himself and tossed it to Cota to draw the DQ in the third. Militia want a title match.

Hijo del Diablo fouled Tony Rivera, again.

Tonight is the second part of the Copa Junior, to find out who faces Dragon Rojo on Christmas. Mistico, being Mistico and having a pre-existing issue with Dragon, is the heavy favorite. Mistico is so much of a favorite, CMLL’s own preview (sent out to the websites) expects Mistico to win. That’s a red flag.

I like the idea of Misterioso winning to face his old teammate, but I still don’t believe CMLL has that much interest in an extended Poder Mexica break up story. How about Hijo del Fantasma? He hasn’t gotten much all year, but would work as an opponent to Dragon in a final. The rudo side is heavy with people capable of beating Mistico every now and then (Negro Casas, Hector Garza and Averno), so maybe there’s an upset coming.

The other thing to look for is Tirantes. As in, does he still exist? He hasn’t been on a show since being kicked out of the Rey Bucanero/Mr. Aguila match. Tirantes was also the promoter of the CMLL show in Veracruz scheduled for this week, which was quietly canceled. If there’s no mention of the Invasors referee tonight in a Invasors main event, we can assume he’s gone.

Charly Manson said his biggest achievement in CMLL was gaining the acceptance of the people. Hair match win is the second. Sounds like he’s facing Ultimo Gladiador on the DTU show.
