New IWRG tag champs, Samurai keeps his hair, CMLL/NJPW show in January

IWRG (SUN) 11/14 Arena Naucalpan [Al Filo del Ring]
1) Héros Guerrero 2000
2) Dinamic Black & EragonCarta Brava Jr. & Hammer
3) Ángel Mortal, Espectro, GallegoBlack Terry, Cerebro Negro, Dr. Cerebro
4) Biba Kasai, Mascarita Sagrada 2007, Miss GaviotaJennifer Blake, Mini Histeria, Pasion Kristal
5) Hijo de Pirata Morgan & Pirata MorganHijo del Cien Caras & Máscara Año 2000 Jr. [IWRG IC TAG]

The finish is here. Pirata Morgan got the win for his team after a Fuerza punt, a 2 count pinfall, and the Nagata Lock submission he’s been using. That’s clean, I think. Dinamitias attacked the champion during their post match interview.

Tercera was the best match of the night. Imagine that. Gallego was eliminated, but came back in to sneak foul Black Terry. That seems like a rematch to me.

CMLL (SUN) 11/14 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Fuego en el Ring]
1) Black Metal & VirgoDrago & Malefico
2) Goya Kong, Lluvia, Luna MágicaAmapola, La Comandante, Mima Shimoda
3) SamuraiEvola [hair]
4) Averno, Olímpico, Texano Jr.Rush, Sagrado, Stuka Jr.
5) Atlantis, Dragón Rojo Jr., Último GuerreroBlue Panther, La Máscara, Shocker

La Mascara has Atlantis all set up for the campana, but Atlantis stole his mask and wrapped up him up. Atlantis traded the mask for a shot the Mexican Light Heavyweight title, next Sunday.

Samurai keeps his hair over Evola, who’s lost twice this year. Olimpico was the Terrible replacement here. Goya replaced Dalis and squashed her opponent.

NJPW announced an upcoming co-promotion with CMLL. Their January 22 & 23rd Korakuen Hall shows will be called “NJPW Presents CMLL Fantastica Mania 2011.” Mistico, Mascara Dorada, and La Sombra are announced for the shows, with an unspecified number of other CMLL luchadors and NJPW talent. On his site, Stuart says the CMLL side may include guys unfamiliar to the NJPW fans. It’s good to see all those La Mascara/La Sombra ads for promoters to call CMLL have finally paid off!

Without knowing how many people are coming, this is all really open ended and tough to guess. There will surely be a CMLL press conference soon that’ll explain this move – whenever they announce the December main event! – but I think we can reason it’ll probably be 8-12 names. Dragon Gate USA usually brings 8 guys over for it’s shows, and I can’t imagine CMLL doing a lot more than that. Plane tickets are expensive! The rest of the show padded out primarily with NJPW wrestlers who’ve spent some time in CMLL over the last couple years: Taichi, Lyger, No Limit, Yoshihashi.

My guess at who works the show (not specifically who I want, but who CMLL might send): Mistico, La Mascara, Sombra, Hijo del Fantasma, Ultimo Guerrero, Dragon Rojo Jr., Negro Casas and Volador Jr.. If they go to 12, I’d add Maximo, Super Porky, Rey Bucanero and Felino. (And maybe we can sneak Perico in the luggage compartment.) 22/23 is a Saturday, Sunday, and doesn’t especially leave a lot behind for a Friday night show, but January isn’t the biggest month here.

Box Y Luchas posts the 3000th cover with the story of how the publication came to be.

DTU, tag title feud in Neza, Arena Mexico, Santo

DTU (SAT) 11/13 Arena Lopez Mateos [Mi Lucha Libre]
1) Ciclope b Electroboy
2) Chika Tormenta, Ludark Shaitan, Sexy Lady b Ashley, Lolita,Megan
3) Bestia 666 & Dinamic Black b Tacubo & Zumbi
4) Drastik Boy & Flamita b Eterno & Hormiga [Alto Rendimiento]
5) Octagoncito & Paranoiko b Mini Chessman & Sick Boy
6) Dance Boy & Violento Jack b Erck Snake & Extreme Dragon
7) Aero Boy, Crazy Boy, Joe Lider b Damián 666, Kaientai, Lord Byron

Aero beat Kaientai, so DTU got the win back over NGX on ‘home turf’. Octagoncito & Mini Chessman were surprise participants (and I may have screwed up the teams there.) Joe Lider and Zumbi are still running into each other’s matches and may soon have one of their own. Drastik Boy & Flamita move on to the tournament final next DTU show, while Eterno & Hormiga have an apuesta match on that show. Eterno has been turning up in the ‘upper level’ indy groups this year, continually feuding with Daga, but he’s got no hair and Hormiga has a mask, so…

CMLL (SAT) 11/13 Arena Neza [The Gladiatores]
1) Puma King & Tiger KidSensei & Starman
2) Bam Bam, Eléctrico, Último DragoncitoPequeño Olímpico, Pequeño Warrior, Pierrothito
3) Coco Blanco, Hombre Bala Jr., Neza Kid b Carta Brava, Dralion, Hermano Muerte III
4) Ángel de Oro, Ángel de Plata, DeltaDr. X, Loco Max, Skándalo
5) Felino, Negro Casas, Rey BucaneroCharly Manson, El Alebrije, Histeria
6) Mr. Águila, Olímpico, PsicosisAtlantis, Dragón Rojo Jr., Último Guerrero

Notable because Olimpico & Psicosis beat Dragon Rojo & Ultimo Guerrero in the main event, then appeared to set up a tag title match for 11/28 here. Also, Loco Max got the Tuareg involved in the ongoing Neza Kid/Muerte III feud with a post match attack, then took Angel de Oro’s mask after their loss in the tercera. Sounds like another multiman match.

CMLL (SUN) 11/14 Arena Mexico [CMLL, Cesar]
1) Bengala, Leono, Tigre BlancoApocalipsis, Artillero, Súper Comando
2) Arkángel de la Muerte, Nitro, SkándaloÁngel Azteca Jr., Ángel de Plata, Fabián el Gitano
3) Euforia, Sangre Azteca, Shigeo OkumuraDelta, Diamante, Fuego
4) Ephesto, Felino, Negro CasasHijo del Fantasma, Toscano, Valiente
5) Héctor Garza, Taichi, Volador Jr.Brazo de Plata, Máximo, Místico

I don’t think anything of note happened here. Sangre won in his return. Hijo del Fantasma went from possibly being in a title match to losing to Negro Casas via surprise casita. Garza & Taichi pinned Porky & Maximo clean in the main event.

Electroshock is not joining La Sociedad. And I think the Maniacos are split?

Rob write about CMLL weekend TV and  has his take on Why The Invasors Failed. I’m still sticking with “everyone lost when it counted, except if Tirantes was ref, which told the CMLL fans that they Invasors were bad.”

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update, Negro Navarro vs Mango Guerrero from LA, and a report on the MPW show.

The Gladaitores has luchadors talking about Eddie Guerrero, five years after his passing.

Lineups

IWL (SUN) 11/21 Deportivo Jose Maria Morelos, Pavon, Colonia Pensil, Mexico
1) Golden vs Ojo Diabólico Jr.
2) Dance Boy, Lobo Metálico, Low Rider vs Black Fire, Naruto, Tribal
3) Fantasma de la Ópera vs Cerebro Negro
4) Fishman Jr. & Hijo del Médico Asesino vs Pesadilla & Ragde
5) Daga vs Eterno [IWL INTERNET]
6) Heddi Karaoui & Villano III vs Durango Kid & Histeria II

Durango Kid & Histeria is a team up of brothers who never get to team up – I don’t have a tag match with them in the database, but they surely must’ve in the Pista Arena Revolucion days – but CMLL’s beeen pretty regularly pulling their guys from these shows, which make me wonder why IWL even tried.

CMLL (SUN) 11/21 Arena Coliseo
1) Rayo Tapatío I & Rayo Tapatío II vs Cholo & Semental
2) Leono, Metálico, Trueno vs Demus 3:16, Escorpion, Puma King
3) Ángel Azteca Jr., Rey Cometa, Starman vs Durango Kid, Hooligan, Nitro
4) Fuego, Máximo, Toscano vs Pólvora, Shigeo Okumura, Yoshihashi
5) La Sombra, Máscara Dorada, Místico vs Dragón Rojo Jr., Último Guerrero, Volador Jr.

Also, Durango Kid is booked over here too. Demus being in the segunda and Yoshihashi in the semimain is blatant trolling.

IWRG (SUN) 11/21 Arena Naucalpan
1) Dinamic Black & Jack vs Carta Brava Jr. & King Drako
2) Brazo Metalico, Eragon, Gran Master vs Comando Negro, Guerrero Negro, Magia Negra
3) Dr. Cerebro, El Hijo de Aníbal, Veneno vs El Hijo del Diablo, Fuerza Guerrera, Hijo de Pierroth (IWRG)

Main event still to be announced, and I have no idea who the Gran Master is. Let’s just ignore that I posted this.

IWRG, Bucanero/Aguila, Perro, CMLL/NJPW, lineups

IWRG (THU) 11/11 Arena Naucalpan

5) Dr. Cerebro, La Parka Jr., Veneno DQ Billy Boy, Decnnis, Hijo de Pierroth (IWRG)

Billy fouled Parka in the main event.

Arlequins get a win! I guess they’re got to still lose their hair.

Amo de Lucha Libre has various clips, including hype for the next trainee show.

Stuka/CMLL

CMLL (FRI) 11/12 Arena Mexico [SuperLuchas, CMLL, Cesar]
1) Molotov & StarmanEscorpion & Mortiz
2) Astral, Eléctrico, Pequeno MaximoPequeño Universo 2000, Pequeño Warrior, Pierrothito
3) Dalys la Caribeña, Dark Angel, MarcelaEstrellita, Seuxis, Tiffany
4) Stuka Jr.Raziel [lightning]
5) Felino, Negro Casas, Rey Bucanero DQ Héctor Garza, Mr. Águila, Taichi
6) Blue Panther, Místico, ShockerAtlantis, Dragón Rojo Jr., Último Guerrero

Shocker (Atlantis) and Mistico (Dragon) got the pinfalls in the main event. More Mistico/Dragon Rojo challenges.

Bucanero was about to make Mr. Aguila, so Tirantes waved to the back and Olimpico, Alebrije and Charly Manson ran. Invasors beat up Peste Negra AND Perico. What fiends. Aguila challenged Bucanero to a hair match, and that seems to be the direction they’re going. (How weird/bad will be if if CMLL backed off doing Mistico/Psicosis because they didn’t feel like it’d draw, then ended up doing Aguila/Bucanero?)

Seuxis had a new black outfit to match her teammates. Still lost to Dark angel.

Electrico won the first fall of the minis match when Pequeno Warrior pulled off his mask, Electrico got Warrior with a tapatia in the second to win the match, and Warrior took that mask too.

CMLL in NJPW
11/13 [Super J Block B]: Prince Devitt & Taguchi b Sombra & Mascara Dorada [Taguchi rolling reverse cradle Dorada]
The loss eliminated team CMLL, and they finished 3rd in their block. Jado & Gedo won the whole thing.

In post match interviews, Dorada mentioned he’d like a shot at Liger’s (CMLL) title.

CMLL’s press release says Tirantes was in the right to call the Canadian Destroyer a piledriver. We’ll see if that ever gets called that again.

If you want to spend 13 minutes of your Saturday listening to Perro Aguayo Jr., Damian, X-Fly and Bestia about how they’re totally on top of things and everything is going fine, this is the YouTube for you. I verbally submitted after 12 minutes.

Lineups

CMLL (FRI) 11/19 Deportivo Agustin Millan
1) Principe vs Estrunedo, Destroyer, Canelo Casas, Emperador, Bengala, Flecha, Damian el Inmortal [mask, hair]
2) Dark Angel vs Marcela, Estrellita, Mima Shimoda, Tiffany, Rosa Negra, Amapola, Princesa Blanca [mask, hair]
3) Místico vs Misterioso II, Felino, Último Guerrero, Sagrado, Toscano, Scorpio Jr., Shigeo Okumura [mask, hair]

Three apuesta matches on the same show. Rosa Negra returns just in time to be really obvious. At least the main event has three possible losers.

CMLL (FRI) 11/19 Arena Mexico
1) Astro Boy & Robin vs Inquisidor & Tiger Kid
2) Ángel de Plata, Guerrero Maya Jr., Tigre Blanco vs Arkángel de la Muerte, Dr. X, Skándalo
3) Bam Bam, Eléctrico, Último Dragoncito vs Pequeño Nitro, Pequeño Warrior, Pierrothito
4) Rush vs Pólvora [lightning]
5) Averno, Mephisto, Taichi vs Blue Panther, La Sombra, Máscara Dorada
6) Negro Casas, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero vs Charly Manson, El Alebrije, Mr. Águila

That lighting match will be a struggle.

Sombra/Dorada back from Japan, more Aguila/Bucanero – maybe others get pulled in.

CMLL Guerreros del Ring on 52MX #259 (11/06/2010)

Arena Coliseo, 10/31/2010

first kick slightly stronger than the second

Bam Bam, Eléctrico, Último Dragoncito vs Pequeño Olímpico, Pequeño Warrior, Pierrothito: This one had Bam Bam instead of Dorada – Electrico is better than Astral, but not enough to make up THAT difference – so it wasn’t going to be quite as good but it was still a nice fun encounter. Ending the match with Warrior giving up to a hold Electrico can’t even figure out how to finish was not so good, but that’s probably more on Electrico.

Máximo, Toscano, Valiente vs Shigeo Okumura, Taichi, Yoshihashi: though it took a fall to get there, Okumura/Taichi/Yoshihashi turned into a nice little team. I think they should stay that way, if only to prevent them from branching out into other matches. Yoshihashi stayed away from doing anything that’d get a dirty look from Virus, so it was a fine night for him. They really built Taichi/Maximo strong, but I can’t imagine them doing it a second time in under six months. (I can imagine Taichi spending a lot of time in Mexico, since it seems like NJPW doesn’t really have much for him.)

Not enough Valiente. Never enough Valiente.

CMLL Guadalajara on Teleformula #20 (11/07/2010)

taped Arena Coliseo Guadalajara, 10/12/2010

.7 CIMA

I don’t know what awards you vote it. I don’t if you vote in any awards. I just know Felino must win an awards for his outstanding portrayal of “Felino” this year. I’d take 10th place in the WON best announcers awards, if we all feel like coming together to cause trouble.

This show was one of the more fun fan appreciation shows. Minis match here was better than the equivalent minis match over on 52MX (aired a day apart, taped a month apart.) We never give Ultimo Dragoncito enough credit for being really good, because he’s usually standing next to Mascarita Dorada, who’s absolutely insane. Everyone was really good here (though it didn’t feel like there was a lot of Astral) and while it’s not a MOTYC, it’s a minis match worth watching. Main event felt professionally done. Ultimo Guerrero and Rey Bucanero can still do their teamwork spots in their sleep, and it doesn’t really matter if it’s Atlantis or Toscano or you or me in there with them. Still, if the Guerreros are going to be a ‘grrrrr’ team and Peste Negra are going to be a ‘hahaha’ team, I’d rather Bucanero goes with the guys who are more open to him spinning dizzily around after a headscissors. Your mileage may vary.
