Averno vs Mephisto, Octagon attacker revealed, IWRG

CMLL (SUN) 11/28 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Fuego en el Ring]
1) Virgo b Thunder Boy
2) Meteoro, Pequeño Halcón, Último Dragoncito b Pequeño Olímpico, Pequeño Universo 2000, Pierrothito
3) Princesa Blanca, Princesa Sujei, Zeuxis b Goya Kong, Lluvia, Silueta
4) Blue Panther, Brazo de Plata, Valiente b Ephesto, Ráfaga, Texano
5) Averno & Místico b Mephisto & Shocker [Relevos Increíbles]

Special main event, and a chance for Mistico to pull rudo/horn gear out from his closet. The expectation was Averno & Mephisto would just end up turning on their partners. Instead, they fought during the match and were challenging each other to a super libre match after. Mistico’s team took it with a foul on Mephisto.

Rafaga replaced Hector Garza. Goya Kong accidentally splashed Silueta to cause the loss for her team. Halcon was feuding with Pierrothito here. Amazing he happened to already be booked for shows again even before he won the bodybuilding contest.

On this week’s AAA TV, a pre-taped vignette revealed (one of) Octagon’s attackers. Here’s the segment.

They did get it done before Guerra de Titanes. Not sure why it was a pre-tape in Arena Naucalpan and not in front of the crowd, but at least it didn’t happen at the press conference.

CMLL says the next Sunday (DF) Fan Appreciation will be on 12/12. Volador vs Sombra will likely main event.

Tickets for Sin Salida run from $52 (MEX, $4) to $478 (MEX, $38)

Amo de Lucha Libre has footage of IWRG’s main event last night, and the debut AND unmasking of Gamos last night in the semimain. Hint: someone’s back in town.

Black Terry Jr. has video of a match I can’t place but appears to be Arena Naucaplan (trainee show?), and has updated his flickr site with a ton of pictures this weekend: shots from the AAA tapings in Leon, Toluca, and Six Flags as well as shows in Arena Lopez Mateos and Gimnasio Latino America (the training gym from the AAA game.)

AAA in AJPW
11/29: Seiya Sanada, Manabu Soya, Kai b Ozz, Cuervo, Masada [Sanada pin Mazada]

  1. Two great rudo returns with Mistico and Gringo!!

Really happy Gringo Loco is back and right back in the feud with Los Terribles Cerebros.

I really want Mistico stay rudo and just team with Averno for ever!

  2. Clearly the angle was done that way to avoid having Super Fly cut a promo in front of a live crowd.

Does anyone really think Super Fly as a rudo will work? The guy can’t talk, his offense is 100% tecnico and he has negative charisma. At the very least I hope he cashes in his mask at some point in 2011 before AAA just demotes him to Mascarita De La Muerte level.

  3. @Rob: I think the angle was done this way because someone realized, perhaps from reading this site, that Super Fly is booked at GDT in a way that had to be explained on television by next Sunday by 18:00 at the latest. Doing the angle this week made more sense because you should do the angle at least a week before GDT.

  4. @LLL: Yeah but the Naucalpan taping occured before the Guerra De Titanes lineup was announced. So they knew what they were doing when they did the angle in the empty building.

  5. @Rob: I’m pretty sure they can go into Arena Naucaplan and tape this kind of angle whenever they want to. The ringside had the IWRG banners up, not all the AAA banners and sponsors(and electronic banner ad) so it was most likely not taped on the day of AAA’s taping.

I think they taped it during the week realizing it had to be a segment on this weeks television to explain the angle.

Another possibility is that this angle was supposed to be on during the week when Naucalpan did air, but that episode was cut short due to the NFL and this angle was coincidentally edited out due to time contraints. But I’m guessing someone messed up and realized that the angle needed to be put in the microwave before GDT.

  6. Looks like BTJR. is throwing up a bunch of stuff he taped in the last couple of weeks. Just put up the AAA v. IWRG trainee show and a Dos Caras/Negro Navarro v. Black Terry/Shu El Guererro and it looks like more is to come

  7. @Tim: No. “Mr. Rafaga” is the Puebla guy, “Rafaga” is the GDL one.

@LLL: If they planned far in enough advance to have Super Fly show up on the rudo team on the poster, there’s no reason they should’ve been caught off guard by having to do the rudo turn.

  8. Saddened by the Superfly turn. It has been teased for so long without it actually occurring that I was hoping that they would never follow through with it. I was really digging Superfly as Mercury in the Metal Men or Dr Zachary Smith on Lost in Space: asshole who never actually turned full heel.
