2010 AAA TV Recap
Projected Air Date (#967)
Mexico: 12/12
US: 12/25

I haven’t been on the boards today, so this may have been posted on one of those first, but I saw it on En El Ring.

With the obvious exception of the second match, everything makes sense based on the TV angles they’ve done so far. Super Fly on the rudo team is no surprise, but unless they did a backstage angle to explain it in Leon, they won’t have actually done the turn before this show happens. After all this build up, forgetting to do the actual turn is just about right.

Once Lider brought in a ladder for no reason, it was pretty obvious they were doing a multiteam ladder match soon. I’d guess Ozz & Cuervo would be in this too if they weren’t in a different country.

Mystery man is a New Bizarro. Tecnico side are the guys who the Bizarros have attacked (plus Tiger.)

First time Mesias & Park have had a singles match. That’s really the second biggest match on the show.

Cage match does NOT have hair or masks on the line. When this feud started, it seemed very likely the Perros would be the ones to finally end the streak. Not nearly as likely with X-Fly involved.

Zorro and Dr. Wagner theoretically could have title singles matches for two straight Sundays. They could be in the Lucha Libre Premier finals tomorrow and this title match on Sunday, which may tell you all you need to know about who’s actually going to be in those finals. We like Zorro, but he seems to be just a guy to get to be a challenger here and it’d be a surprise if the title changes hands.

It’s a bit surprising AAA didn’t just use up Chessman’s title match here. If they’re going to adhere to their own rules, Chessman now must cash in the title shot at Rey de Reyes. (They may not.)

CMLL Guerreros del Ring on 52MX #261 (11/20/2010)

Perico walks softly, carries a loud noisemaker

Arena Mexico, 11/14/2010. Classic bit of having no memory of anything I saw three days later. We’re in a really boring stretch of TV since the tag tournament.

Ángel Azteca Jr., Ángel de Plata, Fabián el Gitano vs Arkángel de la Muerte, Nitro, Skándalo: Fabian is programmed like he’s the fourth Angel. That’s a mix. There have been roughly five million versions of this match and at least four million were better.

Hijo del Fantasma, Toscano, Valiente vs Ephesto, Felino, Negro Casas: Too much TV. I don’t need to see the same Toscano/Felino spots every week.

Wagner III wins a mask, Sombra/Dragon Rojo, lineup

OILL (TUE) 11/23 Arena Aficion [DINO @ box y lucha, Estrellas del Ring]
1) Concord b Sable
2) Maldito Jr. & Samot b Brazo Metalico & Chico Che
3) Esther Moreno & Flor Metalica b La Chola & Rossy Moreno
4) el Ángel, Juventud Guerrera, Marco Corleone, Oriental b Espectro de Ultratumba Jr., Scorpio Jr., Super Calo, Zumbido
5) Fishman Jr. & Histeria II b Black Abyss & Canek Jr. [losers advance]
6) Black Abyss & Canek Jr. b Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr. & Mascara Sagrada Jr. [losers advance]
7) Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr. b Mascara Sagrada Jr. [mask]

Some slight changes. The third Dr. Wagner picked up his first mask. Mascara Sagrada Jr. is the former AAA guy – he might have been announced as “Mascara Jr.” and he was actually wearing his Super AAA gear, but he’s Hugo Torres, from DF, 15 years a wrestler. The Box Y Lucha recap says Mascara hurried from the ring after he lost his mask and they did not give out a name, but Estrellas del Ring’s reporter had backstage access and the photos.

CMLL (TUE) 11/23 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Fuego en el Ring]
1) Astaroth b Metalik
2) Hierro & Virgo b Infierno & León Blanco
3) Neutrón & Palacio Negro b Ángel del Mal & Malefico
4) Héctor Garza, Mr. Águila, Volador Jr. b Delta, Sagrado, Valiente
5) La Sombra, Máximo, Metro b Dragón Rojo Jr., Felino, Negro Casas

Sombra pinned Dragon Rojo to take the match, then challenged for a mask vs mask match. Dragon Rojo said “no”, but did accept a singles match next week. In another interview, Dragon says he’s trying to prove himself by taking on the top guys, and those are Mistico & Sombra, plus he’s got old school issues with Sombra.

AAA says they have a “private” show in Toluca on Saturday, but it’ll be taped for TV. My guess is it’s a special show for Teleton weekend. No lineup announced, but there will be results on Facebook.

AAA in AJPW:
11/24 [WSTL]: Ozz & Cuervo b Taru & Rene Dupree [Ozz special on Dupree ]
La Secta is 2-1, 4 points.

Update 11/28: links fixed

Arena Actopan, 10/20/2010

slap fight

Fabi Apache & Mari Apache vs Alissa Flash & Sexy Star: Alissa wins the match clean over Fabi, hasn’t appeared again. This is a minor thing, but the major show to major show undercard planning has fallen apart this year.

Argenis, Crazy Boy, Gato Eveready vs Billy Boy, Tigre Cota, Tito Santana: I liked this. Argenis is way better than he should for a guy who was legitimately awful to start and doesn’t seem to be booked on spot shows. Militia entertaining themselves is at least entertaining me, and it’s nice they found a trio they can actually get a clean win over.

Joe Lider & Nicho el Millionario vs Silver King & Último Gladiador in a handcuff match: For a random stipulation match, this was perfectly fine. Percentage of people who are shocked that Nicho knows how to pick a lock: 0.0000%. This was also the best Konnan interference ever.

Cuervo, La Parka Jr., Ozz vs Chessman, Hernandez, Zorro: New theory: AJPW asked AAA to build up Ozz & Cuervo before they came over for the tag team tournament. It’s as a good an explanation for the switch as any. Still good.

Cibernético, El Mesías, Octagón vs Damián 666, Electroshock, Halloween: Electroshock and Mesias should slap each other more often.

11/27-28 lucha times

box

AAA-US: Fun show, especially the first few matches. Ilegal debuts, Jack & Tiger return from Japan, and Zorro suddenly gets an angle.

52MX: excellent rudo trio of Demus/Escorpion/Puma. Less excellent trio of Polvora/Okumura/Yoshihashi in the main event.

LATV: They have been jumping around here. Next in line is a show with a Electrico/Warrior minis trios and a women’s trios (tecnicas vs Invasors)

TF: the 11/02 taping, which CMLL and Fuego never actually had results for. Escorpion teams with Misterioso and Sangre vs the dream team of of Fabian/Rush/Toscano + Avernos vs Sombra/Maximo/Shocker.

———–

CMLL: Build up for Bucanero vs Aguila + other people having matches.

AAA-MEX: LA Park returns, teams with Maniacos vs Mesias, Jack, Parka. Minis roulette match, lumberjack match.

AAA-LLP: Minis match and one of the quarterfinals.

CMLL-FOX: Durango/Tuareg vs Angel/Starman/*Cameleon* + Dragon/UG/Volador vs Sombra/Mistico/Shocker. That sounds really good.

CMLL-C3: Fantasma, Mascara, Msitico vs Ephesto, Taichi, Texano

CMLL-GDL: bonus match is Neutron & Palacio Negro vs Angel del Mal & Malefico, which is probably pretty solid.

ACM: they went backwards last week, so no idea. I probably should just be asking people on Twitter

IWRG: not totally sure what’s going on here, but maybe Sunday’s show? Time is correct, at least.
———–

CMLL-TFN: Last year’s Sin Piedad = No Limit vs Texano & Terrible.
