Anniversary round up & video, Santo, lineup

Recaps from last night: Notimex (undercard, main event), Record, Luchas2000, Fuego en el RingMedioTiempo, ESTO (“A night full of surprises”), Cesar’s detailed recap. The Ras de Lona video is below; SuperLuchas has more video here and here.

They continued to play up Volador/Mistico strong, with Mistico diving in on Volador to start the match, fighting in the cage, and then fighting outside the cage after they both escaped. They teased going back into the cage, but the referees blocked them. There’s no re-entry in CMLL cage matches, apparently.

The El Hijo del Santo/Blue Demon Jr. charity show scheduled for Sunday in Guadalajara is now rescheduled for December 5. Sounds like ticket sales were very weak. Apolo Dantes was blaming the competition, both soccer and CMLL’s show. You’d think they’d know the soccer schedule in advance (though the national game was probably recently announced), and no one should be surprised by CMLL running a big show against other promotions whenever they come into their home areas. December 5 is another Sunday; unless it’s part of Guadalajara’s December lucha libre festival, CMLL will load up again.

El Hijo del Santo talks of touring Colombia and possibly bringing Todos x el Todos to Canada. (Europe seems out.) Santo accuses CMLL of denigrating lucha libre, and is particularly sad that Negro Casas is reduced to acting like a clown. Santo says he’s only returning to CMLL under his own conditions.

AAA has a partial lineup for DTU’s 10/03 war of the promotions show. AULL counts as a promotion! Electroshock & Silver King are listead as “M.A.L.O.” instead of Maniacos.

Mil Mascaras will celebrate his 45th anniversary on 10/11 in Japan.

Heroes del Ring bios of the day: Alan Stone, Alex Koslov.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update.

Lineups

CMLL (FRI) 09/10 Arena Mexico
1) Ángel Azteca Jr. & Guerrero Maya Jr. vs Durango Kid & Puma King
2) Diamante, Pegasso, Rey Cometa vs Cancerbero, Demus 3:16, Raziel
3) Blue Panther & Máscara Dorada vs Hijo del Fantasma & Stuka Jr. and La Sombra & Místico and Sagrado & Toscano and Brazo de Plata & Máximo and Rayo de Jalisco Jr. & Valiente and Rush & Strong Man and La Máscara & Shocker [Torneo Bicentenario]
4) Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas, Rey Bucanero vs Charly Manson, Olímpico, Psicosis

Main event sets up Bucanero/Manson. Mistico/Sombra look like definite favorites here. (Which would make Niebla/Volador favorites on Tuesday.) This is Demus’ debut in the big leagues and teaming him with the Cancerbros and against those tenicos makes sense.

  1. Hijo del santo has lose his mind or he is to narcisist ??? sayin that CMLL denigrate lucha libre??? what about AAA bookin only foreigners? and doin things like WWE ? or what has santo done in the last 5 years apart from being on tour the last i remember was the todo x el todo but after that???

  2. Can’t figure out how to record GDL TV. But it’s starting with Leo vs Rey Trueno. First fall ended at 8:01pm.:)

  3. Fun match but really short. Leo did a crazy spot onto the ramp. The women love him. Rey Trueno was fine.

    Palacio Negro trios up now.

  4. A Tzuki sighting & CMLL actually airing an opener featuring Robin & Camaleon. Either this is actually happening, or I’m still drunk & in another demension inside my head.

  5. Nothing really stood out from the opener.

GDL TV still has to work on their commercial placement. Between falls please, not during highspots.

  6. Karla de la Cuesta using the word “espectacular” toninght at CadenaTres to describe La Mascara was a great moment :D
A few seconds later, La Mascara said something in the sense that him, Mistico and Mascara Dorada are the new Sky Team.

  8. AAA TV starts w/ highlights of Decnis beating up El Brazo from Arena Naucalpan. So I assume the segunda is being cut. We start with Fuerza Aerea vs Oficiales.

  9. Well then.

They only got 6 minutes and there was one really noticeable edit early on. But the 6 minutes they did were just tremendous! Aero Star in particular was just off the charts and resembled his old-self from 2008 where every TV appearence was full of creativity and never-seen-before simple innovation. He even did a new dive at the end. Crowd was really into the match.

Of course as soon as it ended they didn’t show any replays of the amazing spots and cut right to a segment with Konnan. So the opener with the guys they want to elevate was treated as a throwaway match.

  10. Entire segment that went longer than the opening segment + match to show Konnan on the mic arguing with Joaquin w/ Parka and the jobbers getting involved. None of the Militia allowed to talk. Joaquin buried them on the mic as nobodies.
