Lineup via Dos de Tres.

On the poster, they bill the main event as revenge for Verano de Escandalo.

Guaranteed blood in the semimain.

I think the Air Force is getting on TV a lot because there needs to be someone for the Militia to (occasionally) beat. Your new IWRG Trios feud? (Probably not.)

Jennifer and Cinthia are listed as seconds to the title match. Order restored?

Minis! An easy match for them to cut.

Pierrothito or Demus?

Had the sneaking suspicion I forgot to write about something, and then SuperLuchas went ahead and wrote about it first.

[poll id=”69″]

After today, either Pierrothito or Demus 3:16 is going to be part of the main division. Demus is the easy favorite, based on his relative height (5′ 3″ vs 5′ 1″, though mini heights are as worked anything.) Both are fun wrestlers to watch. Demus has done everything he can do in the minis division – he’s won the title, he’s beat Bam Bam for his hair multiple times. Pierrothito’s more of a pure mini rudo where his best matches are against tecnicos who are smaller than him, while Demus is about the same against anyone.

The strongest point in Pierrothito’s favor is if he wasn’t going to win, why is he in this match? Bam Bam vs Demus, even with Demus moving on, is much more likely to be a good match, a much bigger match and a lot better story. Unless Bam Bam had something urgent to do today, there’s no good reason for him not to be in this match.

If Pierrothito wins, I presume this moves his Mexican national lightweight championship into the main division.

Brazo keeps Guapito, ratings, big show in Guadalajara

Guitterrez (SAT) 08/21 Veterans Field, Laredo, Texas [Estrellas del Ring]
1) Tigre Universitario b Karla Maria
2) La Diabólica, Sexy Flor, Tiffany b Cinthia Moreno, Esther Moreno, Rossy Moreno
3) Corazón de Barrio, Hijo de LA Park, Olímpico, Skam 13 b Angel Blanco Jr., Hator, Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr., Super Parka
4) Charly Manson, Mr. Águila, Oriental vs Gran Alebrije, Histeria II, Psicosis III
5) Intocable, Latin Lover, Marco Corleone b Hijo del Lizmark, LA Park, Pirata Morgan

Looks like a pretty good turnout.

IWRG (SUN) 08/22 Arena Naucalpan [The Gladiatores, Al Filo del Ring]
1) Epidemia b Alan Extreme
2) Freelance, Guerrero 2000, Jack b Carta Brava Jr., Comando Negro, Imposible
3) Avisman & El Hijo del Diablo DQ Oficial 911 & Oficial Fierro
4) Black Terry, Cerebro Negro, Chico Che, Veneno b Máscara Año 2000 Jr., Mr. Power, Oficial AK47, Oficial Marshal [lumberjack strap]
5) El Brazo b Scorpio Jr. [Guapito, cage]

Al Filo del Ring, who only made it to the show in time for the main event, says this show had poor attendance. Like him, many people were over at the DTU show.

Guapito turned on Scorpio, preventing him from leaving the cage. Scorpio is not convinced this is over and wants a hair match.

In the third match, Los Gringos appeared to be winning until the other Oficials ran in. Their opposition for the semimain followed, and they moved directly into the next match (won clean by Veneno over Mascara Ano 2000 Jr.) There was a Guadalajara Mr. Power who was part of the Guapos U bit in 02/03, hung around until ’05 and hasn’t been seen much since, not sure if it’s this is that guy.

Today in Ovaciones, it’s Alebrije‘s turn to say he’s not losing the cage match.

Rayo de Jalisco now says he wants to be in the cage match. Rayo vs Atlantis is on again for this Sunday. I think we’re not going to know if Rayo is in the cage match until after that, but it seems really odd to wait until five days before the match to announce if Rayo’s going to be in it.

Ratings

  • CMLL 4.1 (same as last week; first time recorded consecutive weeks over 4, though there’s missing weeks where it could’ve happened)
  • AAA 4.8 (up .3 for the second straight week)

The running chart is here.

Gran Apache actually DID challenge the Navarros to Traumas/Negro vs Gran/Fabi/Mari! I can never totally write DTU off when they do things like this.

Dos de Tres suggests Heavy Metal vs Electroshock will end in a hair match. I like Electro’s chances in that one.

The Gladiatores has a video interview with Black Terry.

Christina Von Eerie is in TNA for a tryout.

El Hijo del Santo is in Toronto on Saturday.

Kcidis says the challenge of the cage match might be finding room to move. Kcidis is also on twitter @kcidis.

Rubber Guard Radio will have Rain & Kevin Kleinrock on tomorrow.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update.

Lineups

IWL (THU) 08/26 Arena Lopez Mateos
1) Sara del Rey vs Annie Social [IWL WOMEN, tournament]
2) Rossy Moreno vs La Diabólica [IWL WOMEN, tournament]
3) Trauma I & Truama I vs Chucho el Roto & Iron Love [IWL TAG, eightfinal]
4) Villano III vs Scorpio Sky [IWL CHAMP, eightfinal]
5) Blue Demon Jr. vs Generico [IWL CHAMP, eightfinal]

such a weird match. Scorpio Sky vs Generico seems like it would be a much better match and this promotion just seems like (weird) dream matches for a very small audience, but the matchups all seem drawn from a hat.

CMLL (SUN) 09/05 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Astro Boy, Metálico, Starman vs Bronco, Disturbio, Escorpion
2) Dalys la Caribeña, Luna Mágica, Marcela vs Princesa Blanca, Princesa Sujei, Tiffany
3) Hijo del Fantasma, La Sombra, Máscara Dorada vs El Alebrije, Histeria, Psicosis
4) Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas vs Blue Panther, Rayo de Jalisco Jr., Rotoporky
5) Místico vs Volador Jr. [MEX LH]

This goes up against a Santo/Demon show the same day (a charity show!) and includes a pre-show autograph session so you don’t think of going crosstown. Though this show does not appear to be televised, maybe we’ll find out if the last really awful Mistico/Volador was simply a bad day.

Of the people suspected of losing their mask on 09/03, Niebla & the Vipers are making their first post cage match appearance here. Olimpico & Ephesto are not, but may be in DF.

This would be Tiffany’s first match officially in CMLL. They’ve spelled her name with one F on the card, which might be a typo or might be the usual slight name change they’ve done with Charlie Manson. This would also be Escorpion’s first match in CMLL since last December; the word then was he didn’t need the job and wasn’t happy with his spot (which he appears to be right back in.)
