CMLL Guadalajara on Teleformula #5 (07/31/2010)

taped Arena Coliseo Guadalajara, 07/06/2010 – well, kind of.

Los Angels

The crowd seemed a lot more full (definitely) and a lot louder (subjectively) for the main event than the opener, and I could not figure it out. Maximo and Garza are guys who are better if you don’t see them every week, but still. The way the main event, it seem to set up a rematch for the follow week either. It wasn’t until I was about to post it that I rechecked Fuego’s recap that I realized this was a combination of two tapings. Opener was 07/06, main event was actually the rematch from 07/13. (The 07/06 version of this match ended in a DQ, the recap of the 07/13 matches this finish exactly.) Not sure what that means for this upcoming week.

This was basically the Angels doing the same matches they do everywhere, and the main event guys doing the matches you’d expect. Yoshihashi seems lost at times, but not so bad to alone justify his (apparent) ban from DF. I do wonder if some of it is this Japaneses guy paying the price for the last Japanese guy not working so well, just like Taichi might have benefited from No Limit working out.

Loco Max/Rush, Vipers, CMLL/TNA, lineups

CMLL.com

Loco Max & Rush signed contracts yesterday for a hair vs hair match next Sunday. Article says it’ll be in Arena Mexico, so they’ll be running shows there back to back Sundays.

Cibernetico is offended that the current Vipers would team with his rivals – he started the Vipers, they can’t go against the founders. I’d believe someone if they told me this was the first time Cibernetico realized there were new Vipers.

Amusing story for a slow day: a teaser for a “shoot” interview with Dixie Carter mentions one of the CMLL luchadors propositioned her when they were in for the World X Cup in 2008. That team was Ultimo Guerrero, Averno, Volador and Rey Bucanero, and the preview clip shown doesn’t name any of them specifically. The post linked to wonders if maybe that’s why there’s no CMLL/TNA agreement now, but it’s worth remembering the TNA guys showed up in CMLL after the World X Cup, won the Gran Prix and challenged the CMLL Trios titles. At the time, CMLL was building towards an Alex Shelley/Ultimo Guerrero hair vs mask match, but it was said the two sides couldn’t agree on money and haven’t worked much together since (outside of Dark Angel working in both places.)

Maldito Jr. & Ninja de Fuego retained the Hidalgo Tag Team championship in Arena Aficion.

Over the weekend, Puebla futboler Gabriel Pereyra got yellow carded for putting on a Mistico mask after scoring a goal This is his move; back in 2005, Pereya was playing with Cruz Azul when he also wore a Mistico mask and a Cruz Azul mask. It started catching on, so FIFA banned it.

Estrellas del Ring has an interview with Cien Caras Jr.

The Gladiatores has video interviews with Tiffany, Hijo de Dr. Wagner, Tirantes, and Oriental.

Segunda Caida finishes the 2009 IWRG reviews.

Slammin’ Stan returns tonight.

This past weekend’s Ras de Lona is up. As it this week’s Lucha Libre USA.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update.
