Trios champs retain, AAA/IWRG

CMLL LLA (SUN) 08/01 Arena Solidaridad [MT]
1) Gato Volador & Panthro b Potro Jr. & Tigre II
2) Mascarita Dorada & Último Dragoncito b Demus 3:16 & Pierrothito
3) Sagrado & Stuka Jr. b Misterioso II & Virus
4) Blue Panther & La Sombra DQ Terrible & Texano
5) Héctor Garza b Último Guerrero and Místico [Cinturon Azteca]

This was for – Cinturon Azteca – a title Ultimo Guerrero won here last December with Atlantis. Elimination match, with Garza beating both guys primarily by fouls.

The Tigre II in the opener turned out to be Tigre Universito, changing to the rudo side.

CMLL (TUE) 08/03 Arena Mexico [Ovaciones (PDF), SuperLuchas]
1) Horus & Trueno b Cholo & Zayco
2) Guerrero Maya Jr., Metálico, Molotov b Durango Kid, Puma King, Tiger Kid
3) Diamante, Fabián el Gitano, Rush b Cancerbero, Euforia, Raziel
4) Charly Manson, Histeria, Universo 2000 b Hijo del Fantasma, Máximo, Sagrado
5) La Máscara, La Sombra, Máscara Dorada b Héctor Garza, Terrible, Texano Jr. [CMLL TRIOS]

Rudos took the first, tecnicos took the second. Third fall was referee shenanigans. Tirantes decided La Mascara gave up to a submission when he clearly did not, then Tigre Hispano slow counted Garza’s pin on Sombra, and fast counted Sombra’s pin on Garza for the win.

Charly got the pin on Fantasma after pulling his mask. Fantasma demanded a singles match. Charly asked the fans if they wanted to see it. They did! Next week.

CMLL (TUE) 08/03 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Fuego en el Ring]
1) In Memoriam & Nube Roja b Meteoro & Nocturno
2) Silueta b Princesa Maya
3) Exterminador & Máscara Mágica b Hierro & Leo
4) Delta & Valiente b Shigeo Okumura & Yoshihashi
5) Jushin Liger, Mephisto, Negro Casas b Místico, Rotoporky, Shocker

Liger pinned Mistico clean with a brainbuster, and then talked about being better in Spanish (recap: “the words were not properly delivered”, but people understood what he meant.)

AAA will be taping on August 19 (corrected), in Arena Naucalpan.

Mistico says CMLL or the commission must stop Tirantes and his biased referee, because people are tired off seing it and someone may attack him.

In injury updates, Dark Angel will return at the end of August, and Polvora is out 15 days but will be getting some revenge on Delta.

Gallo says he’ll need a week off to recover from his successful title defense.

In Monterrey, Insane defeated Cyber Payaso for his hair.

Vanguardia has an interview with Saltillo wrestler Red Flamer and his kids.

Cronicas Y Leyendas has posts on the new star of 1975, Cien Caras (some awful colors) and Tauro vs Ringo Mendoza.

Segunda Caida’s Black Terry reviews look strangely like a review of last week’s CMLL’s TV.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update.

Lineups

CMLL (MON) 08/09 Arena Puebla
1) Guerrero Maya Jr., Leono, Starman vs ?, Inquisidor, Puma King
2) Astral, Bam Bam, Eléctrico, Mascarita Dorada vs Pequeño Nitro, Pequeño Violencia, Pequeño Warrior, Pierrothito

Volador on the rudo side sure is interesting. No explanation.

CMLL.com actually lists the opener as 3 on 2, which seems unfair to me.

  1. I assume Tiger Kid is the ? for the Puebla opener but who knows now that Puma King got carted off on a stretcher yesterday. Hopefully he’s okay.

So weird to actually be paying attention to what is booked the 3ra slot on a Tuesday GDL show b/c it’ll air on the weekend.

That CMLL review wasn’t done by Phil or Tom. You almost had me there cubs!
