08/08-09 Lucha Times

chart

AAA-US: Billy/Tigre vs Aero/Super Fly, Alex/Christian/Jennifer vs Apaches/Pimpi, and Perros vs 187/Wagner. Also, the Park/Parka rematch.

52MX: Fabian/Dr. X continues, plus Villano V returns to team with Pesta Negra vs Fantasma, Mascara and Toscano.

LATV: Oro/Diamante/Rush vs Cancerbros, plus Porkky/Ray/Shocker vs Atlantis/UG/Bernard.

GDL: the Exterminador/Magica vs Stuka/Metal feud gets started, plus a rematch of last week’s tag match.

LLUSA: Magno/Brewer rematch, Oriental/Tinieblas vs Luji/Marco in the tag team tournament, and Dorada/PR Powers vs Neutron/Halloween/the debuting Saber Claw (maybe the guy who was listed as El Matador?)

There’s this weird thing MTV2 is doing on the Lucha Libre USA Twitter: they’re actually hyping the matches which will air on their television show this week. What a crazy concept. (Makes my life easier, too.)

—-

CMLL: Block B of the Universal tourmaent, and Sombra/Mistico/Shocker vs the Invaders.

AAA: Taping from this past week in Toluca, with a new group formed and 187 vs Alex/Damian/Halloween in the main event.

FOX: Rush vs Loco Max, Averno vs Invaders.

C3: Trios title match, Charly/Histeria

Puebla: over? not airing? maybe had their slot taken away for a group starting soon?

ACM: Canek Jr. & Fishamn Jr. vs Ejecutor & Rey Hechicero

Perros: Everyone time I see WarriorX2000 put this show up on YouTube, it’s matches from the same Tijuana taping. At some point, they may show something else, but that’s only a “may”.

—-

CMLL-TFN: Ark/Flash, Poder Mexica vs No Limit/V5, and Atlantis/UG/Niebla vs Hector Garza/Shocker/Toscano

Trios champs retain, AAA/IWRG

CMLL LLA (SUN) 08/01 Arena Solidaridad [MT]
1) Gato Volador & Panthro b Potro Jr. & Tigre II
2) Mascarita Dorada & Último Dragoncito b Demus 3:16 & Pierrothito
3) Sagrado & Stuka Jr. b Misterioso II & Virus
4) Blue Panther & La Sombra DQ Terrible & Texano
5) Héctor Garza b Último Guerrero and Místico [Cinturon Azteca]

This was for – Cinturon Azteca – a title Ultimo Guerrero won here last December with Atlantis. Elimination match, with Garza beating both guys primarily by fouls.

The Tigre II in the opener turned out to be Tigre Universito, changing to the rudo side.

CMLL (TUE) 08/03 Arena Mexico [Ovaciones (PDF), SuperLuchas]
1) Horus & Trueno b Cholo & Zayco
2) Guerrero Maya Jr., Metálico, Molotov b Durango Kid, Puma King, Tiger Kid
3) Diamante, Fabián el Gitano, Rush b Cancerbero, Euforia, Raziel
4) Charly Manson, Histeria, Universo 2000 b Hijo del Fantasma, Máximo, Sagrado
5) La Máscara, La Sombra, Máscara Dorada b Héctor Garza, Terrible, Texano Jr. [CMLL TRIOS]

Rudos took the first, tecnicos took the second. Third fall was referee shenanigans. Tirantes decided La Mascara gave up to a submission when he clearly did not, then Tigre Hispano slow counted Garza’s pin on Sombra, and fast counted Sombra’s pin on Garza for the win.

Charly got the pin on Fantasma after pulling his mask. Fantasma demanded a singles match. Charly asked the fans if they wanted to see it. They did! Next week.

CMLL (TUE) 08/03 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Fuego en el Ring]
1) In Memoriam & Nube Roja b Meteoro & Nocturno
2) Silueta b Princesa Maya
3) Exterminador & Máscara Mágica b Hierro & Leo
4) Delta & Valiente b Shigeo Okumura & Yoshihashi
5) Jushin Liger, Mephisto, Negro Casas b Místico, Rotoporky, Shocker

Liger pinned Mistico clean with a brainbuster, and then talked about being better in Spanish (recap: “the words were not properly delivered”, but people understood what he meant.)

AAA will be taping on August 19 (corrected), in Arena Naucalpan.

Mistico says CMLL or the commission must stop Tirantes and his biased referee, because people are tired off seing it and someone may attack him.

In injury updates, Dark Angel will return at the end of August, and Polvora is out 15 days but will be getting some revenge on Delta.

Gallo says he’ll need a week off to recover from his successful title defense.

In Monterrey, Insane defeated Cyber Payaso for his hair.

Vanguardia has an interview with Saltillo wrestler Red Flamer and his kids.

Cronicas Y Leyendas has posts on the new star of 1975, Cien Caras (some awful colors) and Tauro vs Ringo Mendoza.

Segunda Caida’s Black Terry reviews look strangely like a review of last week’s CMLL’s TV.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update.

Lineups

CMLL (MON) 08/09 Arena Puebla
1) Guerrero Maya Jr., Leono, Starman vs ?, Inquisidor, Puma King
2) Astral, Bam Bam, Eléctrico, Mascarita Dorada vs Pequeño Nitro, Pequeño Violencia, Pequeño Warrior, Pierrothito
3) Ángel de Oro, Stuka Jr., Valiente vs Dragón Rojo Jr., Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca
4) La Máscara, La Sombra, Rayo de Jalisco Jr. vs Atlantis, Último Guerrero, Volador Jr.
5) Místico vs Charly Manson

Volador on the rudo side sure is interesting. No explanation.

CMLL.com actually lists the opener as 3 on 2, which seems unfair to me.

top six stories of the last two weeks

  1. The Perros ran in at AAA’s TV taping, the most newsworthy show of the Lucha Libre Expo. The idea was to push the Perros/Legion union, though there appears to be some backstage issues that may not keep AAA working with Perro Jr. for long.
  2. Other news from the expo: the Perros ran their last announced show (for the moment), Blue Demon won PWR’s title, Joe Lider’s won DTU title, Silver King kept IWRG’s title and the Traumas got kicked out of DTU.
  3. Mesias returned as an AAA regular to set up the trios match with Perro Jr. for Verano de Escandalo. That card was also officially announced.
  4. After two straight weeks of feuding, Mistico vs Psicosis seems to be the most likely Anniversary main event.
  5. Sombra won the first block of the CMLL Universal Tournament.
  6. Dorian Roldan complained about Santo over Twitter. Santo is suing AAA over being on the TripleMania DVD

  • “Charlie” Manson debuted in CMLL, quickly found himself in feuds with Mistico & Hijo del Fantasma

CMLL on LATV #15 (07/31/2010)

taped Arena Mexico, 06/06/2010

Stuka Jr.

Bam Bam & Shockercito vs Demus 3:16 & Pierrothito: This was going good until Shockercito’s monkey flip headscissors to the floor went so bad, and it’s hard to think of the match besides it. I went back and forth about using Shockercito’s spot as the accompanying picture, and ultimately decided I didn’t want to see it on this page for a week. It’s ugly, seemed more ugly stuff gone bad, and I can’t believe he worked five days later in Torreon. (No, really, I can’t believe it, newspaper must’ve been wrong.)

Metro, Rush, Stuka Jr. vs Histeria, Maniaco, Monsther: and now we know why Maniaco and Chucky haven’t been around much. Maniaco & Rush went completely off the rails for a while, and Rush clearly thought it was all Maniaco’s fault and needed to get some revenge after the match was actually over. (Seems to be a pattern with him.) Chucky seemed either to not be able to see well or was afraid to actually hit/be hit. Monsther II – it’s definitely a new one, there’s no doubt – is lucky not to join them with his own misaimed performance.
