Silueta unmasked, Guapos vs Metrosexuals

CMLL (SUN) 07/18 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Fuego en el Ring]

2) Mr. Trueno & Rey TruenoGallo & Neutrón
3) Shigeo Okumura & YoshihashiDelta & Rush
4) Seuxis DQ Silueta [mask]
5) Hijo del Fantasma, La Sombra, Volador Jr.Felino, Negro Casas, Rey Bucanero

The team challenging for the trios titles lost to one-third of the champions.

Silueta had chances to beat Seuxis, did not. Seuxis tossed her mask Silueta, ref caught the tecnicas with her, and that’s how she lost her mask. That’s a really bad finish for a mask match. Silueta is Joana Guadalupe Jiménez Hernández, 24 years old, 4 years a wrestler, and the only picture I’ve seen is the one in the link with Sexuis midway pulling the mask off her face. Seuxis is looking for matches with Marcela or Lluvia next.

5) Bobby Lee Jr., Scorpio Jr., VenenoBilly Boy, Decnnis, El Brazo

No Panteras. Bobby Lee Jr. replaced Sr. in the main event, part of an IWRG team to actually beat an AAA team. It’s far more interesting as a Guapos vs Metrosexuals battle.

Two years ago at TripleMania, the Guapos (then Scorpio, Zumbido, Decnnis and Guapito) introduced their newest member, El Brazo. Shortly after, Scorpio, Decnnis and Guapito made a surprise run in IWRG, saying they had left AAA (with the same complaints as the rest of the natives who’ve left the last few years), and saying Zumbido was coming with them. Within a couple of days, Decnnis declared he was staying in AAA, and Scorpio said Decnnis was too leave the promotion he’d been in all his life. Guapito also said he was going back to AAA, but mysteriously turned up with Scorpio the following week. Guapito didn’t talk much to anyone at that show, and it turned out he was only there to fulfill the appearance he had agreed to before going back to AAA full time. (Zumbido eventaully turned up, out of AAA.) Scorpio and the AAA Guapos argued in the press over who owned the name, until El Brazo declared he liked the name Metrosexual better all along. This was the first match since, and Scorpio got a measure of revenge. He fouled Brazo, threw Guapito on top when he tried to break it up, and got the win. They teased a Scorpio/Guaptio friendship after the match.

Semimain was a confusing double pin finish where Pierroth might have his shoulders down, but got credit for the win, but it’s yet another Pierroth son and I can’t be bothered to care.

SuperLuchas has a preview of the Puebla show that’s probably half over by the time you read this, so no poll. The question is really not “Will Centella or Loco Max lose?”, it’s “Will Loco Max lose his hair now, or sometime else in the next two months?”

Masked Warrior’s debut show got a 0.16 rating (warning, PWInsider), which is said to be average for that network.

Lucha Libre AAA has a new, public Facebook page. Over on Twitter, Dorian Roldan is teasing bringing in Carlitos Colon.

Mask Mania has photos and results from the Ultimo Dragon produced Lucha Fiesta show in Japan. Luchas 2000 has a video interview with Espectrito about this show, and about the sentence given to his brother’s murders.

Luchas 2000 #530 has the winners and losers from Monday. Note they’re not even teasing Wagner going to CMLL, just AAA or the indies. Luchas 2000 would know as well as any.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update.

  1. When’s the last time someone/some newspaper/some website has covered a show with a mask match on it and NOT published a photo of the loser? Very odd.

  2. It seems like Lucha attendance is down everywhere. From Naucalpan to Los Angeles(well Pico Rivera), there are lots of empty seats in the photos.

Pico Rivera had a big lineup. Looks like a few hundred at most.

Maybe John G will have good news from the Dallas Univision show with Santo.
