07/10-11 Lucha Times

box

AAA-US: watch the last hour for the cruiserweight match and LA Park/La Parka. Viewer discretion advised for the first hour. The Big News: the Saturday night/Sunday morning airing has returned! Anything to have one less program to record on a weekday afternoon.

52MX: Tuareg vs Air Force/Fabian + Ephesto/Texano/Vangelis vs Fantasma/Metro/Toscano

LATV: rerun!

GDL: Maximo vs Ultimo Guerrero in a singles match.

——–

CMLL: figure on the fourth match dropped, because the law requires Mascarita Dorada vs Pierrothito to air at all times. Also, Pesta Negra vs Lyger/Averno/Mephisto and Mascara/Sombra/Volador vs Garza/Aguila/Olimpico.

AAA-MEX: they taped six matches, and they’ve been cutting matches off the five match shows. I’d guess the joshi girls flew to Mexico to have their match not air. Sect vs Stones seems a really obvious cut as well. In a match that will probably air, Parka/Park fight again, this time in trios.

CMLL-FOX: Angels vs Invasors in the only match airing this week that actually builds up the Infierno en el Ring cage match. Also, Pokry, Mistico, Shocker vs Liger, Mephisto, Niebla.

C3: Demus vs Bam Bam, Guerreros vs Fantasma, Dorada, Mistico.

Perros/Puebla: Unclear. Puebla’s definitely not on Sunday – TVCDeportes is dedicating six hours to the World Cup Final, running a one hour show, then reairing the final. There’s no schedule for Monday on their website. Tercera Caida say they’re back on Wednesday so I presume these shows will be as well, but we can revisit later. Not sure which matches are left to air for Los Perros anyway.

ACM: impossible to find out if they’re airing or not, but I’m guessing not because it’s the World Cup Final eve. By the way, it’s not just the Tuesday shows which are MIA here, but there’s no lineup for Sunday’s show either. A bit concerning.

CMLL-TFN: possibly unaired match of the week: Dorada/Maximo/Valietne vs Misterioso/Okumura/Virus. Also, Mascara/Ephesto and Mistico/Shocker/Volador vs Niebla/Negro/UG

4) Extreme Tiger, Joe Lider, Nicho el Millionario vs Alex Koslov, Damián 666, Halloween

2010 AAA TV Charrt
Projected Air Date (#949)
Mexico: 08/08
US: 08/21

Things are always changing. Just a few hours ago, the Wrestling Observer reported the main event of this show was supposed to be Silver King vs Vampiro with the winner getting the title shot at Verano de Escandalo. No sign of Vampiro now. Perhaps that will now happen at the Lucha Libre Expo (which WON lists with a similar Wagner/Silver tag match with Octagon & UG in the other spots; their lineup is not complete and AAA has not posted it.)

Semimain is a possible preview of a Verano. Instead of the straight tag match they’ve been teasing, WON says it’ll be a trios with Perro Jr. & the returning Mesias.

Tercera is probably more problems with the Air Force, based on what they did at the last taipng.

Segunda is definitely people being kicked in the head.

Relampago continues to wrestle as a tecnico. Maybe they’ll do something with him and Tiger on this show.

AAA lists 08/06 in Puebla as the next taping.

07/18 Arena Mexico Lineup (Infierno en el Ring)

CMLL (SUN) 07/18 Arena Mexico
***Infierno en el Ring, 2010***
1) Metatrón & Tigre Blanco vs Cholo & Inquisidor
2) Lady Apache, Luna Mágica, Marcela vs Mima Shimoda, Princesa Blanca, Princesa Sujei
3) Fuego, Stuka Jr., Valiente vs Euforia, Misterioso II, Virus
4) Brazo de Plata, Místico, Shocker vs Atlantis, Héctor Garza, Jushin Lyger
5) Ángel de Oro vs Ángel de Plata, Ángel Azteca Jr., Diamante, Fabián el Gitano, Sensei, Histeria, Hooligan, Monsther, Puma King, Tiger Kid, Dr. X [cage, mask]

Both @cmllmagazine and Box y Lucha have the lineup. Tickets run from 200MPto 30 ($15.50 to 2.33USD).

11 of 12! I feel pretty good. The only miss is Hooligan (who had be feuding with Diamante in one of those bits they seemed to have forgotten) in place of Maniaco or Oriental. Histeria takes the other spot, which would seem to indicate a positive finish to his mask match on Monday. (Or card subject to change.)

This has largely been about Fabian vs Dr. X and I still think that’s the most likely way this ends. Monsther is the oldest guy who looks certain to lose but probably won’t. Hooligan & Sensei are the older guys who’ve been around forever and could possibly finally meet their end (like Tigre Blanco last year.) Histeria is the other possibility, depending on how their court case is going (and they were very eager to talk about it when nothing was going on, so you’d think we’d hear more if there was a positive outcome.)

The rest of the card is usually undercard for a big show – names, no other big matches. Shocker must not be in too much trouble if they left him on the card here. Tercera tecnico trio all has belts, so they could actually set up a feud if they wanted. Nice touch to include Tigre Blanco on this card.

Cage match and tercera will air on Fox Sports on 07/25, Mistico/Lyger trios and women’s trios will air on 52MX on 07/24.

Puebla, Guadalajara, Demus wins, ratings, lineups

CMLL’s news page says they’re announcing the lineup for Inferno en el Ring today, but nothing is up as I write this. Separate post later.

CMLL (MON) 07/05 Arena Puebla [Luchas2000, R de Rudo]
1) King Jaguar & Tigre Rojo b Fuerza Chicana & Toro Bill Sr.
2) Apocalipsis, Inquisidor, Loco Max b Astro Boy, Centella de Oro, Starman
3) Dark Angel, Goya Kong, Luna Mágica b Mima Shimoda, Princesa Blanca, Princesa Sujei
4) Blue Panther, Brazo de Plata, Máximo b Jushin Lyger, Shigeo Okumura, Yoshihashi
5) Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas b La Máscara, La Sombra, Máscara Dorada

After picking up the win here, Mr. Niebla wants a trios title shot. That actually makes sense!

Astro Boy was hurt in the second match. While one ref was distracted by that, Loco Max pinned Centella de Oro with his feet on the ropes for the win.

Fuerza Chicana replaced Policeman.

CMLL (TUE) 07/06 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Fuego en el Ring]
1) Thunder Boy b Relampago Azul
2) Acertijo & Infierno b Astaroth & Virgo
3) Metal Blanco & Palacio Negro b Ángel del Mal & Malefico
4) Ángel de Oro, Ángel de Plata, Stuka Jr. b Cancerbero, Shigeo Okumura, Yoshihashi
5) Máximo & Sagrado DQ Héctor Garza & Texano

via @cmllmagazine
via @cmllmagazine

Garza fouled Maximo for the DQ. CMLL hasn’t been doing near as much with Yoshihashi as they did with No Limit & Taichi. Though I guess they’re doing it with Lyger to make it with it, but it’s Lyger (and it’s Lyger getting repeatedly kissed by Maximo), so it’s cool.

CMLL (TUE) 07/06 Arena Mexico [SuperLuchas]
1) Metálico & Trueno b Cholo & Semental
2) Euforia, Pólvora, Virus b Ángel Azteca, Fuego, Guerrero Maya Jr.
3) Demus 3:16 b Bam Bam [hair]
4) Blue Panther, Super Porky, Toscano DQ El Alebrije, Histeria, Psicosis
5) Hijo del Fantasma, Máscara Dorada, Místico b Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero

Demus wins! He took the first with a valagueza. Demus went for another in the second fall, but Bam Bam escaped into a rana for the pin. Demus killed him Bam Bam with his double underhook piledriver to take the hair. This should set up a title match soon, though they didn’t strongly indicate that direction after the match.

Alebrije fouled Super Porky for the DQ in semimain. Brazo de Plata was replacing Shocker, who may face some severe repercussions if this was an unexcused absence. I believe Dr. Lucha will be explaining this later on his biweekly Figure Four interview.

Fantasma & Dorada got the pins on Bucanero & Atlantis.

Ratings for this past weekend

CMLL: 2.9 (up 0.6)
AAA: 4.7 (down 1.5)
SD!: 6.5 (down 0.1)

AAA & CMLL were not going against futbol this weekend, and those are two of the lower numbers they’ve gotten in the last five months. SmackDown remains way down from where it was just a month ago.

AAA’s show was the first post-TripleMania show. Dropping down that far doesn’t indicate a lot of interest in the Perros del Mal invasion.

The World Cup final is this Sunday, so AAA & CMLL will get hit hard one more time.

In this thread on LMdLL, Rey Misterio Senior’s paralyzing injury from a while back is said to be from being thrown from a horse, which then fell on him (and caused him to walk with a cane), and then falling down stairs. Later on in the thread, Nicho & Extreme Tiger are mentioned as saying Misterio is doing better.

Octagon was a surprise for a Make a Wish kid.

El Pancracio interviews Ringo Mendoza (wants to come back for one last tour), Mascara Ano 2000 (notes the fans toda are bored by seeing the same thing week after week, then talks about his feud with Rayo going again), Alto Voltage and Escorpion II.

Chico Che talks about his feud with Los Perros. Chico Che is doing better against Damian and friends than AAA can manage.

SuperLuchas suggests 22 names for the impending CMLL 12 man cage match. Dick Vitale would be proud of that post.

R de Rudo has a video interview with Hija de Karonte

Perros del Mal are hyping up today’s podcast with Joe Lider & Nicho, which is a bit odd if you actually think about it.

Segunda Caida has three more Black Terry matches.

Lineups

CMLL (SUN) 07/11 Arena Coliseo
1) Camaleón & Principe vs Disturbio & Mortiz
2) Dalys la Caribeña, Lluvia, Luna Mágica vs La Comandante, Princesa Sujei, Yeska
3) Ángel de Oro, Ángel de Plata, Fabián el Gitano vs Maniaco, Monsther, Oriental
4) Blue Panther, Shocker, Super Porky vs Atlantis, Negro Casas, Rey Bucanero
5) La Máscara, La Sombra, Volador Jr. vs Héctor Garza, Texano Jr., Último Guerrero
6) Místico vs Mr. Niebla

Lineup keep changing. This time, it’s matches 4 and 5. Volador has not been back in Mexico City since the relevos matches where he was partners with Avenro. Elsewhere, he’s stuck as a tecnico. This same tecnico unit is together on Friday, and they’ve gone thru an extra bit of effort to match them up for two straight shows. I think Sombra’s about to be asked to make a choice.

CMLL (MON) 07/12 Arena Puebla
1) Blue Center & Crazy Black vs Ares & Toro Bill Sr.
2) Bam Bam, Eléctrico, Pequeno Maximo vs Demus 3:16, Pequeño Black Warrior, Pequeño Nitro
3) Centella de Oro, Rush, Stuka Jr. vs Cancerbero, Loco Max, Raziel
4) Hijo del Fantasma, Sagrado, Toscano vs Dragón Rojo Jr., Misterioso II, Vangelis
5) Blue Panther, Shocker, Super Porky vs Felino, Negro Casas, Ray Mendoza Jr.

We forgot about Ray Mendoza! Disappointing about that. Also, Dragon Rojo seems to be healthy already.
