Invasors/Angels, lineups

CMLL (SUN) 07/04 Arena Coliseo [@cmllmagazine]
1) Bengala & HorusCamorra & Cholo
2) Hooligan, Nitro, SkándaloFabián el Gitano, Pegasso, Rey Cometa
3) Ángel Azteca Jr., Ángel de Oro, Ángel de Plata DQ Histeria, Monsther, Oriental
4) Ephesto, Texano, VangelisHijo del Fantasma, Metro, Toscano
5) Brazo de Plata, Místico, ShockerJushin Liger, Mephisto, Mr. Niebla

Fabian replaced Tony Rivera, who’s been showing up on a lot of outside bookings lately. Nitro beat Fabian for the win, and probably should teach Dr. X how to accomplish that.

Not really high on the Invasors losing to the Angeles if we’re still supposed to be taking them seriously as a top threat, but it happened in a smart way. The rudos tossed Angel de Oro over the top rope in the third fall, which isn’t called a DQ any place outside of CMLL. Invasors should be claiming ignorance. It does seem like this isn’t the end of this feud.

Not a lot about the top 2. Texano got Fantasma for the deciding pinfall in the semimain. I suspect there was a Mistico/Liger challenge in the main event.

LuchaLibreAAA.com is down because they forgot to renew the domain. Someone probably stopped using whatever email address they used to sign up for it, never got a reminder notice, and didn’t know it was expiring out until it stopped working today. (I am familiar with this sequence of events happening to others.) They should be back as soon as they get the right person to answer an email – and they still have http://triplea.com.mx/ if they want to use a different domain. In theory, the domain is open to anyone to buy one it expires, but domain companies usually hold onto it for 30 days in case something like this happens. More than you wanted to know!

Prior to his singles match with Ultimo Guerrero, Psicosis was excited to prove he was as good as Ultimo Guerrero, though he’d prefer to have a fair referee like Tirantes officiate the match.

Cronicas Y Leyendas has a photo of a bloody Ray Mendoza in California.

DJ Spectro has a look back at Lou Thesz vs Canek, a match which actually occurred, Aguila del America in 1985, and posts video of some Pavillion Azteca matches.

SuperLuchas has an interview with Oaxaca’s Vuelo Especial. #371 of the magazine has an exclusive interview with Rey Misterio.

Also, in his own interview, Dr. X suggests a cage match with Sensei, Angel de Oro, Angel de Plata, Angel Azteca, Diamante, Fabian el Gitano Puma King, Tiger Kid, and los Cancerberos. That was probably about what the match – should happen sometime in August, maybe as one of the Fan Appreciation shows – was scheduled to be at the time, though Dr. X probably should’ve mentioned his Tuareg amigos (?) as possibilities. The theme is young tecnicos vs old rudo, the names are always subject to adjustment. Now, between the finish in the terecera today, and the lineup below, there may be a third group (or at least an expansion in contest of the second group.)

Lineups

IWRG (THU) 07/08 Arena Naucalpan
1) Héros vs Dark Devil
2) Eragon & Super Halcon Jr. vs Fishman Jr. & Hijo del Signo
3) Avisman, El Hijo del Diablo, Gringo Loco vs Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro
4) Jack Evans, Laredo Kid, Súper Fly vs Dr. Cerebro, Freelance, Suicida
5) Máscara Año 2000 & Veneno vs Hijo de Pirata Morgan & Pirata Morgan

Even though we might see the match, I’m entertained by the semimain match occurring at all. Main event builds off the finish this past week; Piratas have now down as many tag feuds after having the tag titles as they did while having the titles.

AAA (SAT) 07/10 Arena Neza
1) Mini Charly Manson & Octagoncito vs Mini Histeria & Mini Psicosis
2) Aerostar & Fabi Apache vs Billy Boy & Sexy Star
3) Monster Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown vs Cuervo, Escoria, Ozz
4) La Parka Jr., Octagón, Pimpinela Escarlata vs Electroshock, Silver King, Último Gladiador

AAA’s running Arena Neza. Someone should.

IWRG (SUN) 07/11 Arena Naucalpan
1) Eragon, Hijo del Pantera, Super Halcon Jr. vs Crazy Star (M), Imposible, Magia Negra
2) Bobby Lee Jr., Chico Che, Miss Gaviota vs Canek Jr., Kung Fu Jr., Trauma I
3) Centauro, Pantera, Veneno vs Fuerza Guerrera, Hijo de Pirata Morgan, Oficial Fierro
4) Extreme Tiger, Gato Eveready, La Parka Jr. vs Máscara Año 2000 Jr., Oficial 911, Pirata Morgan

Crazy Star (M) because I assume it’s not the former CMLL women. They’ve both been active in the DF indies at the same time, I wonder if one ever gets calls for the others.  Kind of odd to have the Oficials in separate matches and Pirata teaming with Mascara Jr. while he’s feuding with Mascara Sr. I’m guessing the IWRG crowd will not be big fans of Parka, but I’m not sure.

CMLL (SUN) 07/11 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) El Divino & Meteoro vs Cerveruz & Quca
2) Javier Cruz Jr. & Metatrón vs Infierno & Templario
3) Lady Apache & Silueta vs Amapola & Seuxis
4) Hijo del Fantasma, Toscano, Valiente vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto

Card subject to change. Silueta/Seuxis continue to feud.

CMLL (SUN) 07/11 Arena Coliseo
1) Camaleón & Principe vs Disturbio & Mortiz
2) Dalys la Caribeña, Lluvia, Luna Mágica vs La Comandante, Princesa Sujei, Yeska
3) Ángel de Oro, Ángel de Plata, Fabián el Gitano vs Maniaco, Monsther, Oriental
4) Blue Panther, La Sombra, Volador Jr. vs Atlantis, Felino, Negro Casas
5) Brazo de Plata, Místico, Shocker vs Héctor Garza, Texano Jr., Último Guerrero

Angels & Fabian continue to feud with the Invasors, which seems to put those rudos – and not the Canceberos or other Tuareg – in line for the cage match.

Of course, Oriental can only put his mask on the line in a cage match in August if he doesn’t lose it next Monday. They can always sub someone else in this feud for Oriental and everyone’s not always on the same page about who’s going to be available when. However, and not solely because of one result and one lineup, I’m less certain events are occurring as I thought they would. I still think Mistico is beating Oriental for his mask, and I still think it’ll happen in Nuevo Laredo. It just may not happen in July.

  1. It’s not even a general over the top rope DQ, since guys get flipped to the apron or the floor in every single match. It’s just only a DQ if they press slam someone over the top rope to the floor, which only happens when they want that DQ finish.

  2. @thecubsfan:
So basically, it’s not so much a DQ for over the top, it’s a DQ for press slamming a guy over the top and to the floor. Given this is something (never) rarely done anywhere else in the world, I can actually see why it makes sense.
