CMLL vs Invasors press conference, links

CMLL held another press conference today, to promote the 07/12 CMLL/Invasors card in Nuevo Laredo. That card, once again:

CMLL Gutierrez (MON) 07/12 Plaza de Toros Lauro Luis Longoria
1) Mini Alebrije, Mini Cibernetico, Mini Oriental vs Astral, Mascarita Dorada, Shockercito
2) ?, Rossy Moreno, Sexy Flor vs Lady Apache, Lluvia, Marcela
3) El Hijo del Solitario, Hijo de LA Park, Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr. vs La Máscara, Máscara Dorada, Valiente
4) Ephesto, Mephisto, Rey Bucanero vs Charly Manson, Juventud Guerrera, Mr. Águila
5) Héctor Garza, Terrible, Texano vs Jushin Lyger, Shigeo Okumura, Yoshihashi
6) Atlantis & Olímpico vs Averno & Último Guerrero and Místico & Oriental and El Alebrije & Volador Jr. and Histeria & La Sombra [ruleta de la muerte]

Just about everyone on the lineup showed up to talk about their match.

As with the previous shows in Nuevo Laredo, there was heavy focus on the possible Oriental vs Mistico match. It’s the only pair of the five they’re really teased. Olimpico or Histeria losing their masks can not be ruled out but the emphasis is on Mistico/Oriental.

Hector Garza has now decided he’s 100% with CMLL, but he also thinks Tirantes is a swell guy.

People listed here are only mentioned as working this show. Being on this show opens a door for Charlie or Juvi to the main CMLL cards, but this is no guarantee they’re showing up more than this.

Last time we saw Hijo de LA Park was in the middle of the ring at TripleMania, helping his father celebrate his victory. I do not think Hijo de Park working here precludes him from soon after showing up in AAA (same thing for Wagner), but there are only so many spots to go around.

The Invadors mystery woman in the segunda remains a mystery. Best guesses are Estrellita and Medussa.

Mini Cibernetico on an CMLL show is weird.

Alex Koslov & Aerostar talked about their Mixed Tag title match on 07/02 in a press release AAA was sending everywhere. Well, almost everywhere.. Someone should tell Aerostar that it’s okay to lie and tell people he actually knows the person he’s facing, to try and make it sound like a big deal. I do like how the quote makes it sound like Alex might have an appointment book and a page on it that reads “seduce Christina Von Eerie” and, much farther down, “talk about match.”

We might not see the newest Nemesis for a bit; Espaladas Planas said the IWRG wrestler had his ear almost ripped off in a collision with the barrier. It took 33 stitches to reattach the ear.

The Gladiatores has a good biography of Bobby Bonales (except for the unfortunate typo in the page title.)

In Morelia, Obituary Jr. took Posion’s mask this past Sunday.

CurrentTV has a video story on Tijuana exotico Rubi Gardenia. (This is a two year link that randomly turned up; don’t think I linked to it before.)

WagnerMania notes Dr. Wagner reached five years of holding the UWA World Heavyweight Championship for five years. It’s been a least a year since we’ve seen it.

DJ Spectro posts Luchas2000 articles on Medico Asesino’s 50th anniversary, part 7 of it’s interview with el Halcon, the new CMLL minis, and Arena Peravillo Cozumel,  as well as the box y lucha interviews with Oriental & Mistico. More pages from Lucha2000 here, including Charly Manson saying he’s left Los Perros (not going back to AAA) and sounds very willing to be an Invasor if offered and if it doesn’t conflict with the Lucha Libre USA stuff.

Kcidis has Mr. Niebla‘s return.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update and video of La Sombra & Davey Richards vs Jushin Lyger & Yoshihashi.

  1. I have to say, that is a monster lineup for Nuevo Laredo. Not surprising in the slightest. And I’m not sure if CMLL is on in that market. Galavision Mexico does not have a Nuevo Laredo affiliate. A local indy Televisa station might air AAA, but no CMLL.

  2. Gutierrez has been doing a helluva job promoting Nuevo Laredo for the past few months as no one was challenging Cantu for a while.

  3. @KrisZ: You’re right. I think Cubs and Superluchas have linked to some handhelds and newspaper articles from cancha de futbol rapido showing sellouts. Even more interesting is the fact that CMLL may not be on free television in the market–only cable/satellite subs can see their television.

Amazing how after all these years, Monday has held up as the day to see Lucha in N. Laredo.
