Ephesto retains, Mistico challenges, Garza/Shocker, Terry/Navarro (by proxy), Record

CMLL (TUE) 06/15 Arena Mexico [@cmllmagazine]

2) Bam Bam, Eléctrico, Fantasy DQ Demus 3:16, Pequeño Nitro, Pequeño Violencia
3) Diamante, Sagrado, ValienteArkangel de la Muerte, Nosferatu, Virus
4) Brazo de Plata, Delta, MísticoAverno, Mephisto, Pólvora
5) EphestoRey Bucanero [CMLL LH]

Bucanero took the first, Ephesto the second. Ephesto managed to kick out after taking the Buca Storm and rolled up Bucanero with the Ephesto Cradle for the win. Awwww.

Mistico and Averno were left alone at the end of the semimain, and you know how that goes. To complete the return to 2005, Mistico challenged Averno to a shot at Averno’s [name redacted] World Middleweight Championship championship. All time, Mistico is 14-4 versus Averno in singles matches. In Averno’s defense, his last two wins were beating Mistico for this same title (in 2007) and retaining this title over Mistico (in 2008). This would be Averno’s first defense of the year. Probably his last.

Tecnicos minis won in straight falls, Demus being DQed for fouling Bam Bam in the second. Feels like we’ve got another match between those two coming up.

Metatron replaced Metalico.

Garza faked a foul to draw a DQ. This sets up a Shocker/Garza singles match next week.

Trainee show. Centella, Imposible, Luguer, Silver Boy, Smoke, Surdo and Aztlan are Negro Navarro trainees, the rest are from Black Terry’s class. Eterno beat Centella to win the trophy.

ESTO introduces Goya Kong, who says she just accompanied her sister to trainee with El Apache and ended up being a wrestler herself. Meanwhile, her sister was introduced on Ras de Lona months ago and still hasn’t debuted in CMLL.

CMLL Magazine says there’s a press conference today. Liger & Yoshihashi coming in figures to be a topic, as probably will Sombra’s BOSJ tour (his match versus Lyger is up now), the Father’s Day show, and maybe this Mistico/Averno title match. I’ll have a post on it later.

Record Luchas magazine has it’s latest edition up for free on their website in three parts: Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3. From reading the boards, it appears this is free because the magazine has been canceled and this issues wasn’t going to the printers. Record had a really good magazine (and it’s worth picking up if you stumble across old issues), focusing more on interviews and non-time specific articles since it came out monthly, but it’s a tough time for magazines.

Lucha Va Voom is in Chicago tonight for two shows at 7 and 10 Just like last time, I’ve ended up having other stuff to do on the same night and would be a couple hours late for the late show (so, no post about the AAA taping until late either), but if you’re not doing anything, it’s always worth checking out.

Jack Evans is learning Brazilian Luta Livre.

SuperLuchas has the new PWR Women’s Champion.

R de Rudo interviews El Italiana, who’s the daughter of a wrestler and says she’s the god daughter of Abismo Negro. She doesn’t have a driver’s license, which would seem to make it hard to work shows.

Lineup

CMLL (MON) 06/21 Arena Puebla

Going to be tough for Negro Casas to get his title rematch if he’s teaming with Lyger the whole time.

Tzuki! It’s about five months to the day since Tzuki was either fired or put on Mr. Niebla suspension after he appeared in no condition to perform (but tried anyway) in a Puebla match. Hope he’s better, more for his sake, but also because that  looks like a pretty great match. Whatever they’re setting up with Bam Bam and Demus may be affect things.

Super Porky is listed under the Rotoporky name, for whatever reason.

  1. “Bam Bam, Mascarita Dorada, Tzuki vs Demus 3:16, Pequeño Warrior, Pierrothito” What?!?!? Tzuki?? This must happen.

  2. Five months? How does that work? Tzuki’s “incident” occured on August 10, 2009 at Arena Puebla. He seemed to get the boot after that but had to make it up to the local promoter so he worked the October 12, 2009 show (no TV but he was in the photos) and then was listed in a few matches for CMLL in January but never showed up for any of them.

It’ll be amazing if he comes back but I’m already worried they’re just gonna change it to Bam Bam vs Peq Damian since they have the tecnicos side made up of two mini tecnicos who rarely show these days.

  3. @Rob: Somehow, I had him back in CMLL in January. Those must be results from 2009 that I have sorted wrong.

I would hope they would announce the change at the press conference if they were going to make it…

@Joe Lider: It’s a Brazilian martial arts; wikipedia tells me it’s an umbrella which includes jujitsu, which is probably what exactly he’s doing
