No new IWRG. AAA Lucha Mania may be history, but I’ve got a few matches left I’ve finally got off the TiVo. These all did not air in the US.

  • 04/11 AAA Mexico TV Match 1 – 03/25/07 opener features locals whose names I’m not sure of
  • 04/17 AAA Mexico TV Match 3 – 04/20/07 Laredo Kid, Pegasso, Rey Cometa, Súper Fly vs Gran Apache, Policeman, Super Calo, Toxico AAA (who now has a different name)
  • 04/24 AAA Mexico TV Match 1 – 04/24/07 Jerrito Estrada & Mini Histeria vs Mini Crazy Boy & Mini Joe Lider (presumbably now DTU workers under different names)

IIRC, I found a couple more of these previously but I can’t recall if they made it up the blog. I may track them down.

Next week: Maybe 100% Lucha (which is back on again, plus I still had episodes from March). I’m warning you ahead of time that it’s, uh, interesting wrestling and of the four episodes I’ve taped, one is missing the first eight or so minutes, and two are missing the final eight minutes (including the one with the end of the league tournament.) Didn’t have time to get them done for this week.

  1. @Rob: I actually did it this time!

    2010-05-30
    Hator b Gran Alebrije
    2010-05-23
Chessman & LA Park b Black Warrior & Electroshock

  2. Plus a 10 minute LA Park interview. Park/Chessman vs Warrior/Shock is a real fun brawl.

  3. Hi there. I’m sorry if this is an obvious question but are there specific times of the year or dates for the tournaments “Torneo Cibernetico” and “Torneo Gran Alternativa” to be held?

  4. @noob: Hi! Hope you can find this answer later, you’ve picked an old entry for it.

There are no specific times of the year for each of those matches.

Torneo Cibernetico is not a specific tournament, it’s a match type – it’s really just an elimination match with slightly different rules. CHIKARA does their big Cibernetico as an annual event but, in Mexico, it’s just another type of match that turns up from time to time – maybe because they’re using it to set up another match, maybe because they have more guys on the card than they can fit in their normal matches, maybe just to be random.

Torneo Gran Alternativa is (almost) only held once a year in CMLL, but it floats around based on where it’ll help the other stories it wants to tell.
