1) Comando Negro b Keshin Black

3) Avisman, El Hijo del Diablo, Gringo Loco b Suicida, Trauma I, Trauma II

5) CIMA, Kenzo Suzuki, Nosawa, Tozawa b Gato Eveready, Máscara Año 2000 Jr., Pantera, Veneno

Not only an all rudo night, but Mexico falls to Japan. IWRG is depressing, crushing promotion.

Previews of today’s Arena Mexico show: Notimex, Ovaciones, ESTO. No one cares about today’s Arena Mexico show; whatever they do will be build to Sunday’s show. The Ovaciones article that, thru the World Cup, CMLL will give free passes to anyone in a Team Mexico jersey.

Sombra won his match over Gedo in today’s Best of Super Junior match with what sounds like his rope flip moonsault, bringing him up to 2-1 and 4 points. NJPW’s YouTube channel has put up his last match in the tournament, versus Kota Ibushi.

La Parka Jr. just now realized he stands to gain absolutely nothing if he wins his match against LA Park. Probably should’ve figured that before signing the contract. Parka suggests, if he should lose, he’ll call himself something like “LA Parking” and just change his mask a little. It’s good no one is reading this interviews, they’re not helping.

Arturo Rivera was on a gossip show, showing footage of LA Park being slapped by Marisela Pena and throwing bottles at the crowd. Must not be a big deal if they’re showing it on other shows.

Todoluchas wonders who will be added to the AAA Hall of Fame at TripleMania. They’re adding someone to the AAA Hall of Fame at TripleMania? I haven’t seen that mentioned on the website or the TV show so far, but they didn’t add any one at Rey de Reyes so I’d believe this.

Marco Corleone promotes the first Masked Warrior taping on Sunday, says they have “the most athletic individuals in the world on our roster.” They do have Mascarita Dorada, I’m not sure I should argue this.

Dark Unicorn/Hailey Hatred has been suspended from wrestling in Monterrey for wrestling unmasked before she lost her mask. They didn’t realize this until she lost his mask?

IWRG says Dr. Wagner Jr. is coming in on Thursday.

Ultimo Guerrero signed autographs at Solar’s shop.

Nuevo Dia has an interview with local Nogales wrestler Xxtruendo.

Ras de Lona #100 has cake. I suspect tomorrow’s episode will be all 6/6 build up as well, but maybe from the Invasors side.

LuchaWorld has Slammin’ Stan #34.

  1. “The Ovaciones article that, thru the World Cup, CMLL will give free passes to anyone in a Team Mexico jersey.”

They also announced they’ll have a promotion in August where if you have two arms you can get free passes into Arena Mexico.

    Sorry Muerte Bucanero.

  2. Is CMLL expecting attendance to be as bad as it was when it went head to head with one of the most important religious celebrations in all of Mexico last December? Damn, they really should have kept Mistico a rudo. But old habits die hard.

Has anyone seen the Sombra/Ibushi match yet? Is it any good? My workplace blocks youtube, so I’ll have to wait until I get home later on tonight.

  3. Having finally seen La Sombra’s match with Ibushi, I have to say I enjoyed it for the most part. I can certainly see why Ibushi is as over with the Japanese crowd as he has been: a pretty boy babyface who can sell very well for the most part and has pretty good comebacks.

I suppose this will be as close to a rudo as we will see Sombra be for a while. He busted out some nice mat submissions early to stretch the Japanese heart throb, which was a nice change of pace from CMLL’s approach of high spot dives and a quick 2 minute fall. Here’s hoping Sombra does well in that tournament. At least, he seems to be getting better reactions than Mistico did in Japan. That should be a really good sign.

  4. @J. Corzo Cubby: I liked it too. Definitely better than anything Mistico did in Japan. I’m a huge Mistico mark but he clearly went to Japan thinking he was the shit and everything he did in Mexico would fly over there which it clearly didn’t. The stalling between every move and 10,000 ranas per match weren’t gonna cut it. Not to mention he had no interest in changing his style since his first match (vs Averno) and last match (vs Tiger Mask) showed no sign that he was learning from his mistakes. Sombra is clearly over there trying to work a different style and seems willing to learn.

Hopefully he can get a win over the man who exemplifies everything wrong with wrestling today and set himself up nicely heading into the home stretch although I doubt he’ll get the 2 points.

  5. @ Rob:

By “the man who exemplies everything wrong with wrestling today,” I presume you mean Davey Richards, right?

  6. I’m kinda neutral on the whole Davey Richards issue, which seems to be a hot button topic in ROH-land. Why exactly is he “the man who exemplifies everything wrong with wrestling today”, in your opinion?

  7. I was merely using that quote to figure out if you were referring to Davey Richards. I don’t watch much Ring of Honor and the only time I saw Davey wrestle live was at last September’s Dragon Gate USA show in the much-hyped match with Shingo. He’s good from the little I have seen of him, but I do feel that some of the internet criticism of Davey Richards is justified. I don’t visit the ROH boards because those people are creepy. Honestly, he makes for a fine rudo. But he does try to be a bit too much “fighting spirit” babyface when he should just be a prick to everyone. See Gedo vs. Jushin Liger from this year’s Super Juniors tournament for what Richards really should be.

  8. @Nikita: Simply because I’m not a fan of wrestlers who work 20+ minute matches and then do the spot where they take huge suplexes/finishers/strikes from their opponents only to pop up no-selling it. A lot of people call it “fighting spirit”. I call it what it is… no-selling.

You can save your breath trying to argue the point b/c I’ve felt that way since I started watching Puroresu so my hate for the no-selling goes far beyond Davey Richards.

If you’d like more Davey Richards-specific hate reasons…

    – Clearly has no concept of variety. Always wants to do 20+ minute epics even if his spot is 2nd on a card of 12 matches.

    – Wants to work “strong-style” no matter what crowd he is working in front of. When you’re booked in a small town in NC working in front of 70 fans, half of which are kids… you MIGHT wanna think about toning it down.
