AAA TripleMania press conference, CMLL TV, Guatemala, mini

AAA press conference articles: AAA, Notimex, Record, MT (with video), SuperLuchas, Espladas Planas, Luchas2000, Estrellas del Ring. More notes:

  • They talked about having wrestlers from TNA, NOAH, AJPW and ROH (Daniels?)
  • They’re doing a electronics recycling tie-in. Random! Bring a giant CRT monitor, that’s what I always do. Did they ever build that Pena statue?
  • La Parka Jr. was not at the press conference. All the recaps note this, so I guess it’s a plot point?
  • LA Park vowed to use no holds in his match, and talked about losing weight for this match.
  • No one really decided if the Roldan’s will be in the corners for Parka/Park or not. Park wants Joaquin in Parka’s corner, so he can watch Joaquin cry when Park wins.
  • The minis match sounds like it’ll be a TLC match. Which really makes no difference.
  • The losing women’s team will be a maid for a month
  • They actually brought up the AAA Tag Title defense in NOAH – Go Shiozaki & Atsushi Aoki get a title match against Morishima & Ishimori on 05/23. It most likely doesn’t matter, but it would be a way to get out of the Ishimori travel issues.
  • Dr. Wagner, here a year, is now a defender of AAA against the vile intruder Park, and their argument/fight started when Park was ripping AAA.
  • They said Abyss, Cibernetico, Vampiro and Zorro will be on the card. That’s probably the match right there. Edit: Yep, SuperLuchas just confirmed Abyss/Cibernetico vs Vampiro/Zorro in a hardcore match. That’ll be a terrible waste of 15 minutes, hooray.

CMLL’s TV show is pushed to Sunday again this week.

CMLL says they’re going to Guatemala on 05/30, with Mistico on the tour.

Valiente says NJPW was very pleased with his and Mascara Dorada’s match and would like to bring them back for a tour, though nothing is confirmed.

Blue Demon Jr. & Hijo del Santo size up the World Cup.

A 90 cm tall wrestler has become popular in Boliva. Cresencio Choque is 20 cm (8 inches) shorter than Tzuki.

Lucha Va Voom comes to Seattle this weekend.

Cronicas Y Leyendas looks back at Super Crazy winning the ECW TV title.

LuchaWorld has Alfredo on the 05/08 CMLL LATV show, and KrisZ’s news update.

Lucha Libre USA to run first show on June 6th, air on June 19th

A poster has surfaced advertising Lucha Libre USA, which appears to be the Marco Corleone group. Some googling leads to the promotion’s website, which previously was the website promoting the AAA US tours.

The poster advertises a 06/06 in southern California casino. Tickets are $20 to $50. The website also mentions a show in noted lucha libre hotbed Springfield, Massachusetts on 06/19, where tickets are $30 to $55. (Last we heard, the first show was supposed to be in Las Vegas a week earlier, but there’s no sign of that show anywhere.) These tare expensive prices for a new and unfamiliar promotion, but maybe being on MTV2/3 will get people to take a chance.

A blog entry promoting the Springfield taping says the Lucha Libre USA show will start airing on MTV2 &3 on June 19th. I believe the show is supposed to be a half hour, so maybe they’d tape about 4 weeks of material a taping.

The talent roster is slightly different between the posters for each show and the website, which is not very unusual. Besides Marco, it looks like they had plans of using LA Park in a big role. That won’t work for the first taping (same day as TripleMania); Park is shown on that poster but not listed in the lineup. Mascarita Dorada is also involved, and we’ll have to see how/if that affects his status with CMLL. Other names you may know: Neutron (listed as a rudo; still currently working in GDL, unless it’s a new one), Oriental, Mini Halloween (Dorada’s opponent), Mentallo (masked Canadian wrestler who was training with CMLL for quite a while but only got a couple matches), Hijo de Lizmark (who seems to have remasked), Charly Manson, Octagoncito, Salsero (and Pierroth Jr.), Super Nova, Tinieblas Jr. and Magno. “Mini Dragoncito” is listed, but I believe that’s an indy wrestler and not Ultimo Dragoncito from CMLL.

2010 AAA TV Update
Projected Air Date (#940)
Mexico: 05/30
US: 06/12

The official magazine of Dos de Tres put up this poster, while saying it’s not confirmed. Why post it then? Let’s just go with it.

The Electro/Silver/Gladiador faction is being called the Maniacos. Must’ve spent a long time on that name.

They still need to set up the Cibernetico/(Abyss?) vs Zorro/Vampiro match. Maybe that’s what the tag math is for? If they’re having Park around and not facing Parka, then maybe they’ll get around to doing that Wagner match.

Hermandad teaming with Parka is going to just be odd.

Alan Stone & Elegido, actually on TV.

I’m guessing title change in the singles match. If Alex wins that, then he’s got a title and didn’t need to win the Crusierweight title (which Daniels could win.) That would just leave Chessman challenging for the Heavyweight title for the Legion clean sweep, assuming Sexi Star is actually part of the Legion.
