IWRG, Puebla, CMLL lineups changes

IWRG (SUN) 05/09 Arena Naucalpan [Black Terry Jr. (Flickr), The Gladiatores]
1) Dinamic Black b Comando Negro
2) Daga & Tonatiuh DCO Alan Extreme & Eterno
3) Bombero Infernal, Maldito Jr., Samot b Black Terry, Cerebro Negro, Jack
4) Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro b Avisman, El Hijo del Diablo, Gringo Loco
5) Fuerza Guerrera, Hijo de Pirata Morgan, Pirata Morgan DQ Dr. Cerebro, Rayo de Jalisco Jr., Scorpio Jr.

In the third fall, Hijo de Pirata Morgan socked Scorpio (not captain) with a weapon to pin him. Rayo saw it happen, grabbed the weapon, socked Pirata, and got caught for the DQ.

911 pinned Diablo clean to set up a title match this Sunday.

Bombero pinned Jack with his feet on the ropes. Black Terry argued with the referee, and got backcrackered by Samot. (Of course that was the move.) This sets up Jack vs Bombero this Sunday.

Daga & Eterno are feuding. Still!

CMLL (MON) 05/10 Arena Puebla [Fuego en el Ring]
1) Asturiano, Centella de Oro, Milenium b Centauro de Fuego, Fuerza Chicana, Toro Bill Sr.
2) Durango Kid, Puma King, Tiger Kid b Astro Boy, Leono, Metálico
3) Delta, Diamante, Sensei b Loco Max, Nitro, Skándalo
4) Hijo del Fantasma DQ Psicosis
5) Hiroshi Tanahashi, Místico, Taichi b La Máscara, Negro Casas, Volador Jr. [Relevos Increíbles]

Hijo del Fantasma took the second fall and seemed about to win the third, but Universo 2000 and Mascara Ano 2000 rushed in to attack. Fantasma was destroyed and his mask was ripped off. Mascara, Volador and Negro Casas pulled Fantasma from the ring and wanted to fight Psicosis and Los Dinamitas, but Tanahashi, Taichi and Mistico attacked them to kick start the main event.

In the third fall of that match, Negro took out Mistico with a silla, Volador did a dive on to them both, and Tanahashi dived on them all. Mascara and Taichi, left alone in the ring, battled out to a finish. Mascara accidently kicked the referee, and Taichi yanked his mask and rolled him up for them.

Even though Astro Boy and Leono took out Durango and Tiger with kids, Puma King still pinned Metalico clean with a casita.

Lineup Changes: CMLL juggled their lineups for Tuesday and Friday. Hector Garza takes Sombra’s place in the main event, so he STILL hasn’t actually joined the rudo side and that match is doomed. Texano replaces Mephisto in the semimain. On Friday, the new semimain is Tanahashi, Taichi, and Okumura versus La Mascara, Mascara Dorada and Sombra, and Hijo de Fantasma takes Dorada’s place in the lightning match against Averno. (Terrible does not appear to get a makeup booking this week.) Seems like there was a change in plans about who’s getting the first shot (and probable win) at the new trios champs.

Previews of tonight’s card: Ovaciones and ESTO. Today is a Mother’s Day show; maybe that’s why they wanted Garza on this show? Fabian and Dr. X match up in the tercera.

Trios Titles: Okumura says his team would’ve won the trios titles no matter how Garza acted in the match, and they’re ready for all challengers. Fantasma says they must wins the CMLL belts back from NJPW to restore national pride. In that interview with Fuego en el Ring, Fantasma says he, Mascara, the Angels and Metro will have to discuss the future of the group. In another interview with Record, Fantasma says Mistico has offered to take Garza’s place. Of course he did. Go ask Volador how that one works out. Fantasma also suggests Shocker and Strong Man.

Tanahashi’s match for Saturday was canceled, so SuperLuchas gave him tickets to the WWE Raw show that night. Fans repeatedly mistook him for Yoshi Tatsu.

Super Porky’s jaw injury came at the hands of Histeria. Hope this doesn’t screw everything up.

Valiente & Mascara Dorada’s missing luggage showed up midnight after their show in Japan, and included matching half masks they were going to wear. CMLL needs to team them up so we can see those.

Perros del Mal will have a 3 hour radio show on the Gladiadores’ website this Wednesday, from 4-7.

R de Rudo has an interview with Lola Gonzalez.

Rossy Moreno celebrated the 1st anniversary of her restaurant with a lucha show, of course.

Cronicas Y Leyendas writes about the career of Groon.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update.

  1. I’m going to my last lucha show in Mexico tonight, and taking my 15 month old daughter for the first time. Also looking forward to the 1 peso ticket for my wife. I’ll try to post results and thoughts when I get back, but I’m not really sure how much I’ll get out of a show while entertaining my daughter.

  2. @LLL: If an adorable little girl in a lucha tshirt doesn’t get us fan of the week then nothing will.

  3. OK, I’m not sure I got all of these results right since I was distracted by my daughter (who loved the show) for most of the night. The crowd was OK. They have started tarping off even parts of the lower level for the Tuesday night shows. And this was with the discounted rates for Moms. If you are going to set up for that small of a crowd, why not just actually move things back to Coliseo on Tuesdays?

    1) Disturbio & Mortiz beat Bengala & Trueno-Fun opener. Trueno hit a nice dive to the floor on Mortiz in the first fall.
    2) Guerrero Maya Jr., Molotov, Starman beat Bronco, Hooligan, Inquisidor-Not a bad match, but sad to see Hooligan lose in my last trip to Arena Mexico.
    3) Dr. X, Euforia, Nosferatu beat Fabián el Gitano, Pegasso, Rey Cometa–Pegasso/Cometa vs Euforia/Nosferatu would make a great match if the rudos were still a tag team. Dr. X vs Fabian? Not so much. Some good dive sequences here in the third fall, but nothing good from the two guys this match was built around. The other four were just there to take each other out.
    4) Blue Panther, Toscano, Valiente beat Ephesto, Texano, Pólvora-Polvora gets to work a match with Blue Panther. This should be roughly the equivalent to Dorada working with Virus and Felino right? Valiente is always great to see, and this match was fine other than Toscano.
    5) Atlantis, Averno, Rey Bucanero beat Hectar Garza, Máscara Dorada, Volador Jr.-As a fan of the Garza rudo turn, I wish they would just start booking him with the rudos. You get what you expect here with him playing the part well, but it all feeling completely unnecessary since he already turned on his partners. He worked opposite Atlantis a little, but wasn’t in the ring much at all. He pulled Volador’s mask to give the rudo’s the win. Poor Volador should know better than to team with someone who is on his way to the rudo side.

  4. @Alan: why not move back to Coliseo? Television. Not only does ArMex look better on tv, but it’s setup with all those ringside/ramp signs which generate money for them.

so what other opinions did you have of Naucalpan? did you take metro to last stop and then take micro?

  5. @LLL: I loved Naucalpan. I happened to be there on a night with a larger than normal crowd (I assume the AAA invasion helped) so that probably made a difference, but it had a great feel. It is also such a unique building. I wish I had started going earlier and gone more often in hindsight. I took a taxi out since I had no idea how to get there otherwise. Very fast trip and only took 15-20 minutes to get home after the show.

I understand that C3 is the reason they are holding Tuesdays at ArMex, I just find it annoying. Coliseo would be way more fun if they drew the same size crowd, whereas ArMex just feel empty when you are there live. Tarping it off is helping some at least. Maybe they can sell ads on the tarps since they clearly aren’t making money at those ticket prices with the crowds they are drawing.
